Ain’t no way this man just said spiderman 2 is on par to the birth of his son lmao
The way it was worded, I thought he was saying his son was a controller. Which tbf... most newborns are pretty controlling 😅 happy for him all the same though.
@@celestialkitsune haahaa thats fucking hilarious
@@celestialkitsuneThat or he was holding a controller when his son was born
He said he didn't have a son like a minute later

Honestly, doing fast travel in this game felt like the most "next gen" experience ive felt since getting a PS5.
Have you played mission 9? It blew my mind
Right! My jaw dropped how immediately it changed location.
@@stokesy2469 I've beaten the game, but if it's the mission I'm thinking of, then I agree.
which mission is that@@stokesy2469
I don't know if you knew about this, but there is an upgrade in the traversal menu that let's you see those crates with tech and rare parts on the map, it also makes those spider bots more visible and shows it to you on the mini map when you're close enough. The upgrade doesn't tell you the spider bot part though lol
That would've been very helpful to know, I was already well oversaturated with tech/rare tech parts by the time I unlocked that upgrade, so I picked the other one of the two options on that slot! (I also don't think I would've had that upgrade by the time I'd gotten all the Spider-Bots, since I just said screw it and got them all relatively early as a break from the constant recording I was doing. That one's more on me, of course!)
I will take 42 spider bots any day over 243 Riddler trophies.
I kinda liked the riddles tho
Riddler trophies actually made you think lol..
@@alejandrobagg2591 I didnt think too hard on the riddlers riddles
Same as well as taking just 42 bots over several backpacks, map towers, and annoying objectives within every district.
Ehh naw
I honestly cried after the grampa mission! It was the ‘ I know I’m fading spider man’ that got me 😓 this game is so good!
The Howard mission, man 😭😭😭
This game was very emotionally charged
😭it came out of nowhere, I was not okay
Dude im 21h in on spectacular difficulty while prioritizing side missions that are available before each story segments while never using fast travel and im around 55% done. Sometimes I’m swinging around trying to find crime and get parts for upgrades or suits. This shouldn’t be a game u speedrun on ur first go around so just take ur time and enjoy the process brodies
Fantastic review. I just got the platinum trophy on spectacular in 20 hours.
What helped me was doing everything as soon as it became available so that I could get the upgrades earlier.
2 sad side missions made me go to bed thinking about them.
It’s weird that I can relate to Miles my dad died 2 years ago just as was entering university so his story was in impactful to me.
Not weird at all , I lost my a couple years ago and even the scene of harry going to his moms grave got me emotional
My condolences to both of you.
If you think Kraven is one-note, please read the short comic story called “kraven’s last hunt”. Incredible stuff
That's like the exception that proves the rule 🤣
Won't lie kinda wasn't a fan of how tankie enemies where, but just being able to lower there health while cranking there damage to 10 felt amazing. More games need option menus like this one
The fact bro 100% the game in like 20 hours is insane. I'm 30 hours in with like 90% completion
I did it in 21
Look man. The pigeon quest has never hit me so hard.
I had no issues with the Spider Bots. Whenever I saw a purple pulse during the game I'd go right for it. By the time I finished the story, I only had 3 left. Then I'd just swing around the district until I spotted it, which I usually did quite quickly.
Gotta say though, I did NOT understand the conclusion to that quest. At all. I was just as confused as Peter and Ganke were.
You pretty much said exactly what I thought about. They trimmed the fat for most of the stuff and made nearly everything more enjoyable. Yeah small bits like the bots and missing features were there. But for the rest of the game? Everything was just great for me.
I loved doing everything here, all of the side quests and tasks were so enjoyable that I wanted more to pop up. The bases were better for me to tackle, no stupid "Do this in all of the bases to get more tokens" like the first game, smaller collectibles and just easier methods of combat.
Imho, this is MY spidey game that I've always wanted. And I so can't wait for both Wolverine and the third spidey game.
I prefer the r1 selection for the gadgets in this game as it doesn't break the flow of combat or stealth, but I really wish they treated it like the abilities where you can hot swap gadgets into the wheel, still giving you the flexibility and experimentation the wheel allowed. Fucking with gadgets like the trip wires and concussion blast were hilarious and just awesome for stealth, setting up traps. using bodies and noise to lure people, and learning how to quickly chain these together was my favourite part of the guest game
Yeah I’m still wondering why they removed those gadgets entirely. Even the suit powers are gone.
I’m glad you brought up the JJJ audio logs missing and the inability to listen to logs while swinging. It’s much more fun that way and Jonah’s lines are hilarious but were frequently cut off.
I love the way they did achievements in this game. In most games you have to go out of your way to do some obscure thing to get a rare trophy. Don’t get me wrong, I like games that do this sometimes. But spider-man 2 did it so that you can earn all of these just by naturally playing the game if that makes sense.
Definitely a spectacular time
While a small thing, what I like about 2 is the amount of settings they have for gameplay. So you aren’t just stuck under presets but are able to craft a gameplay that fits what you want from the game. More modern games need this level of gameplay settings (and more).
All this and modern games are missing are the return of cheats.
I’m about 50% of the way through the game. Where I gave the first game a 9.5 this game I’m gonna have to give a 9. Them stripping the gadgets away and it’s influence on combat and stealth really is getting to me. There’s a few story gripes so far but that isn’t really affecting my enjoyment. It really is just the combat and stealth thing.
It’s not so much as they gave up on stealth, rather they realized they aren’t Rocksteady and this isn’t Batman, and one shouldn’t necessarily be punished for failing stealth. In the first game of you failed stealth you had to restart a whole section, now if you mess up stealth, you can just move into full combat.
All the side content besides the tower bases (name changed to avoid spoilers) were very worthwhile due to the lore they provided.
To answer the question, YES!
Every single side quest after completing concludes with either a boss fights or a teaser to SM3.
The flying is amazing but i admit it's distracting me from swinging lol. It makes me want a superman game even more. Later on ( spoilers ) when there's symbiote tendrals all over the city it felt so cool weaving around the city and avoiding them in the new suit. I never felt so much like a superhero. I really do have to limit my use of them though. But do i want to....? 😈
Dat thumbnail tho
I knew from the jump what the thumbnail was gonna be, and I'm so glad photo mode let me pull it off
I just finished SM2 on Spectacular mode and I’m now going to start with the Ultimate mode.
I started out on Amazing mode and it took me longer to complete the full story because I didn’t complete the tasks to get the tech and hero points needed, so I had to do side missions to gather tech etc.
On spectacular mode I did all the side missions and crime as much as I could just to upgrade my suit and abilities. This made me complete the story faster even though it was a bit tougher.
Soon I’m going to start on Ultimate mode!
I actually really like the Spider-Bots mainly because it finally shows us how this Peter joined Spider-2099's Spider-Society in the Across the Spider-Verse film!
I completely agree with you on the spider gadget cutbacks. I was saddened I couldn’t combo the trip mines, impact web and other unique ways to mix up the gameplay. The gadgets became weakened versions of the power moves to me
I thought the spider bots could be seen on the mini map if you used the tech part visibility upgrade? Not amazing but makes it a bit easier
You're correct, somebody else tossed that out in the comments yesterday! It doesn't actually say it does that in the upgrade description, so I honestly just never used that upgrade since I was already more than overstocked on tech parts and rare tech parts.
I'm glad it's an optional upgrade for those that don't wanna use it, but making it one of the few that forces you to choose between two upgrades to equip was a choice I don't agree with. I would've turned it on if I didn't like the other upgrade more!
Money well spent I definitely found myself missing some of the old gadgets(especially those web bombs) lol and didn’t mind the spider bots too much just gave me another reason to race forward and back across the map and improve my swinging
0:50 You also have issue as well with Elgato 4K Pro MK2 (bitrate glitch).
Luckily not all the time does this.
I've just platinumed the game after no-lifeing it all weekend and I just want to restart it already.
1:00 you held a controller while your son was born?
More than a few occasions where I was listening to JJs or Danikast broadcast then swung too close to a crime scene that it interrupted their broadcast. Had to go youtube to listen to it after.
I don't agree with you about Gadgets and abilities. It isn't even the fact that people didn't use majority of them in first games, but the fact that right now Gadgets are the combo extenders (i think there is only one gadget that actually do some kind of direct damage, but all of them manipulate the positioning of the enemies, lunch them up, push them forward, pull them to one area etc.) even for this sake enemies have more health so you can do more cool stuff
So I'm really glad that they are experimenting with new combat, because it felt to much as mix of batman Arkham and Ratchet and clank
This game needs an end game. Like an activity that reoccurs that's fun and rewarding. Like the venom nests thing I enjoyed that. But it ended so fast.
City traversal isn't as smooth in SM2 as it was in Miles imo, but I'm not far into SM2. I keep landing weird, or not running up buildings, or just randomly stopping and getting stuck. Should probably try gliding more.
Edited for clarity.
It’s less assisted overall so you have to actually be precise with your movements
Wait do you mean as in when playing as miles vs peter or as in vs the miles morales game?
@@XzMattyxZ the miles game.
@@OverworkedPostalEmployee gotcha, was just checking as I know it’s 99.99% likely it’s placebo but I’ve actually found traversal with miles a bit more consistent than Peter in SM2 😂
@XzMattyxZ i think you're right. Miles seems a bit easier than peter in sm2.
The payoff for the Spider Bots was pretty cool, though. I was in open mouthed shock about what happened and how it was presented 😂
I appreciated it more when I realized the context that somebody shared from the art book - to be vague I thought I'd missed something a few months back!
Im honestly just glad someone platinumed the game faster then i did at 26 hours, ive been getting some ribbing on that one all day. (Also im glad im not the only one who want audio logs to be listened to in movement)
At the time that I'd gotten the Platinum, I looked online and saw that somebody had done it in about the same total gametime, but doing the whole 20 hours in one sitting instead of over a couple days. (Hell I took breaks more than I expected, because I had a feeling subscribers would be enough to help keep the video alive this time around, unlike with earlier late-but-early reviews where IGN etc. sap all the top search slots.)
And then I checked back earlier today and saw somebody on PSNProfiles did it in like 14 hours, so now I _definitely_ can't jokingly claim the current 100% speedrun record!
Wait that's still not a thing? 😭 I've been going through the story thinking I was gonna be able to replay them as I swinge
When i was collecting spider drones I had three different maps open, some were not showing, as I wasn't aware that the r3 had to be pushed to get the ping and had assumed it was a proximity detection. also personally hate the L3R3 being used as input except on my xbox elite controller where I have them remapped to paddles
So far, I only managed to get halfway through the game, story and side stuff, but this game honestly has me compelled in ways I didn't expect.
I knew that the crux of companionship between Peter and Miles, or Peter and Harry would entice me a bit more to care about the story, but it was honestly a significant improvement from what the first and Miles Morales would have brought me. It has me hook, line and sinker caring about every little detail that they could think of in the story, and that isn't even getting to the side stuff, which honestly.......just tugs at my heartstrings way more, and some of the stuff that these side stories tell, are heartbreaking, but beautiful.
Gameplay wise, I think that this game makes the faster paced combat more of its strength once you get the Venom powers and the new powers that both Peter and Miles get. It feels so much more satisfying. The big issue that I do feel is what you said about the gadgets because while the powers can be dynamic, we don't have that same type of freedom with the gadgets, and no chance to unlock the gadgets that we unlocked in the last few.
Collectables I feel is a bit cumbersome especially as they aren't tracked period unless you pass by them, so I am hoping that there is an update that fixes it. But otherwise, it still feels fun to collect and get a little quip regarding the bots, they're a reward in their own right.
While my time is not quite up with this game, I can feel confident that its a step in the right direction, and may usurp Spider-Man PS4 as my favourite Super-Hero game. And maybe......might be my GOTY, but I'll have to finish it first before I can fully state this.
Wait what point In the story are you right now? because if your only half way, you ain't seen nothing yet
@@UnderTheHood78 I literally just got the Symbiote.
Lol just platinumed this jumped on RUclips and saw this. Had to watch
Heck it’s too late for me, every time there is a side missing available I go straight for it and won’t move on until that side quest is finished.
bruh the gadgets one the first one were insanely fun. so many potential combos, so op. I do miss the gadgets but i get it why they removed it.
This is the only game I’ve platinum’d and now I’m working on platinuming the first 2.
I'm enjoying the game so far. It has been a bit glitchy on my end, tho. The worst was at the start where the Spider-Men(Spider-Mans?) would get stuck in their 1,2,3 combo if I attack too much. A simple restart fixed it. And the other funny one was when I was changing costumes, Peter turned into a cube, whole buildings started disappearing, I clipped threw the ground a few times until I hit a death barrier, and the game crashed on me(technically a worse glitch than the first one, but I wasn't annoyed, just thought it was funny).
Overall, good game. Would recommend.
(Also, if there are any Insomniac devs reading the comments. Hope you guys get a kick out of my crash report video where a fast-traveling flying cube crashed the game.)
My favorite bug was one where Miles wouldn't actually move forward when swinging or...fall when falling. I only ran into that one, I wanna say two crashes total (one of them related to that bug actually), and a couple where I took a photo for one of the Photoshoots during some phone dialogue/while moving so quickly that they triggered but didn't.
Like you said, when reloading a save takes barely half a second and solves the problem instantly, the bugs that do appear end up being inconsequential. It's one of my favorite lesser-discussed things about the current gen - I love seeing stupid bugs even more now, because they remind me of finding them as a kid rather than making me worry that something's permanently screwed, and it's only a moment of "ha look at that" before I move on.
I ran into so many bugs in my playthrough. From npcs clipping through the floor to getting stuck on geometry and having to restart the checkpoint. To even one of the end game cutscenes glitching out so bad. I had to abandon and restart the mission 4 times in a row because character models wouldn't load.
I caught a bug during a late game boss battle where I got stuck floating toward the sky.
I didn't mind the spider-bots and I agree with the gadget wheel. Also don't like how they limit each skill to one button, why L1+O when I want it to be L1+X?
But overall, amazing. Definitely cementing themselves in greatness on this release. And when New York changes into that kind of New York... freaking loving it
Yeah surprised there isn't button remapping, tho guess this may come a little later in either the performance or NG+ patches
You can hover over the map in each district and it I’ll tell you if you’ve got all the spider bots in that district. If not all least you know which district to search so it’s not totally flying blind when searching for them
Totally agree about the weapon wheel. I miss my web grenades and trip mines. :(
Loving everything else though!
I'm just here to say spectacular job on that amazing thumbnail 😂
If it weren't thanks to Sonic and Mario, as well as my bizarre inability to process this game was coming out very soon (I don't know why I keep forgetting it), I'd have probably picked it up now. But I still haven't played Miles Morales yet, and this game is bound to be on sale for Christmas, that I can probably wait a bit longer for it.
Otherwise, great to hear this game being as good as the last, if not more.
I got the platinum in around 30 hours but I did spend a lot of time just swinging round looking at places
The weapon wheel in Spider-Man 1 was insanely overpowered to the point that the game wasn't even fun when you used them. You could finish fights in literal seconds with just a web bomb and the force push
This is the 1st game I can say where i dont feel like i regret getting my PS5 although I had to dust it off since im always on PC. Dont forget that Insomniac did a great job on the 2 PC ports. Insomniac is the cream of the crop the only thing is when I go back to playing console after not being on it for awhile it always makes the controller feel foreign to me. I used to be one of those players that only played my PC games with a controller until I realized how comfortable games felt with Keyboard and mouse. Im 7 hours in the game so im starting to get used to the controller again
This game is honestly incredible! ❤ never played anything so polished and great
Ok I love this game but it needs a little polish. Quite a lot of bugs
Cue Spider-cube. Lol
The scene you get after collecting all the spider bots was pretty worth it to me lol
15:16 ay yo, your son needs to let you be Spiderman! This is an honest genuine unbiased review, I appreciate it sir 🫡
I've hundred percented the game earlier today. I love this game, but I'm one of those in the camp thst feels it's too short. I now have nothing to do until they release new game + or some DLC. I can appreciate the SM1 was a little bloated, and a bit of a pain from a completionists perspective, but I think this game could use some more meat on it's bones.
I want the middle eastern version of the game
Took me 30 to platinum. But prob drop couple hours just swinging ngl.
After the first couple spidy-bots, I just looked up an interactive map to find them and I honestly expected there to be way more than there were. It might’ve been because I was playing super late at night but I wasn’t feeling the “hunt”.
These insomniac spider man games are the funniest games to platinum imo.
I've already platinum it.. Started Friday finished Saturday evening. Had about 5 hours sleep.
I just wish they had new game plus, more side missions.
Needs more content after completion
I agree with the spider bots thing lol, I was getting pissed
I enjoyed the part when you have to deliver the pizzas
0:53 - you were holding a controller when your son was born?
100% gets you the most content from the game. The game went by pretty quick, I 100%ed in 19 hrs, so I’d say 100% should be done. Not too hard.
Ive had dozens of technical problems with the game, it has soft locked me three times and I’m still early into the story.
Is switching characters also a seamless experience without a black transition screen?
There are a few times where it does it as part of the story that are seamless flythroughs from one part of the city to another, but if you manually change when roaming it'll fade to black for _maybe_ half a second and then take you to the other Spidey laying in a web hammock in another part of the city, or in the middle of swinging - one time Miles was eating a bagel on the side of a building, stuff like that.
The only gadget I really missed was the impact web, and I tried my best to utilise the 4 gadgets provided, the only one I didn’t use as often was the upshot
I miss the Web Bomb but the Ricochet Web kinda makes up for it.
The spider bots weren't too bad imo, i just caught most of them as i was playing and not even actively looking out for them.
It was only at the end of the game where i had to actually look for like 4 and it took me 10 minutes
Any time i saw a crime pop up while I was free roaming or collectible hunting, I would just say to myself "Eh, Miles/Peter's got this".
yay no Screwball, huge advantage over the last game.
oh, well that's a little annoying for if you want to fill that checklist but really if you are more serious about that you can use websites that show locations of these things or search in a grid pattern, like he said ,to see every inch of the map.
pinging a button to find things just reminds me of blast shards from the first 2 Infamous games so that's not a huge deal breaker for me.
oh so it replaces the Ratchet & Clank weapon weal with the Dragon's Dogma class skills/spells system in terms of controls. that's totally fine, can't wait for DD2.
I seriously hate collectibles you have to spam a button and be within close distance for you to see. Took me a loooong time to get all the blast shards in Infamous back on the PS3, since I was stuck at 349 of 350 shards for the longest time. I ended up having to do a systematic sweep of the map, mentally checking off building clusters I already checked, which took me probably around 3 hours to do in the potgame, since Cole's vertical maneuverability is jack shit. Turns out the last shard was literally in the last section of the map I had left to check. Did a thorough tour of the whole map just for 1 shard that didn't do anything extra.
My fav game review channel 👌🏼 thank you for playing this game and giving your honest opinion. This video only heightened my excitement to download and platinum it!
I like that some of the side part is blocked off and force you to play story mode. I have ADHD and out I finish games like these more. I beat God of war/ ratchet and clank. But didn’t beat Zelda/ horizon / cyberpunk/ because there to much open world that you get burnt out.
I also 100% Spider-Man 2. That shit should be 50$ base price and 60$ for the digital deluxe edition.
The gameplay is so impressive & shows the insane abilities of the PS5. I saw that if you play in "performance mode" the game is so much more responsive & fast! Still looks great so it's worth it compared to the slow fidelity mode.
I can't wait for when wolverine comes out! A darker grittier more mature game! It's what I've been wanting ever since the sad stop of Batman games coming out... I really hope they bring the single player Batman games back! I've always loved them and i never wanted them to stop creating unique Batman games
I can't speak to Fidelity mode this time around because I saw no reason to even try it for capture purposes. Frame rate all the way for me! (I am probably gonna play my ng+ run on Fidelity though because I have a VRR monitor, so I'll get 40fps. That would've been really wonky to show/record though so I waited.)
@@TheGoldenBolt yeah performance mode is the way to go. The other mode seems like it's literally in slow motion. It's not worth it. Fast smooth gameplay is so much more important
Man, I wish spiders were real
Honestly even with how annoying getting the bots can be, i enjoy it so far, i waited a long time for it so I'm gonna enjoy it all and try not to run through it. I don't need to beat it to say i did i just want to enjoy the story and the gameplay and every little thing that comes with it.
The short answer, yes. It’s one of the easier plats out there and if you do everything you’ll get it naturally by the end of your playthrough.
What I wanted to know most was, if it were worth my attention if I hated the original game? I despised the web-swinging in the first Insomniac game, because the physics were too automated and fake; swinging never felt satisfying or rewarding. I also hated the combat; I felt there was too much of a gameplay focus on it, and that it was extremely monotonous and boring, I never felt like I wasn't in control of the situation or that I needed to think on the fly - just keep using the same button combinations and occasionally time the super-telegraphed dodge button until the damage-sponge enemies died.
I avoided Miles Morales because it just seemed like more of the same.
And from what I've seen of 2's gameplay so far, it seems to only make my feelings on the swinging worse, and only slightly improved the combat's less annoying aspects. If anybody wishes to tell me I'm wrong I'd be glad to hear, but so far, I'm just depressed that this game's title is going to make discussing the *better* Spider-Man 2 game so much harder...
I got the platinum in about 29hrs. Loved every second. 😅
Am I the only one who thinks the lighting in this game is way worse than Remastered? It’s like everything’s way too over lit, and the brightness is way too high?
I don’t think it’s “worse”, but games that have more realistic lighting tend to be brighter because it isn’t as stylized, especially sunlight.
I see that someone else had the weird glitch I had most of the game with the red glowing feet. Ultimately a minor thing overall, but it bothered the hell out of me during the course of what is overall a pretty good game. Also, is there anyone else who hated the parry mechanic. Perhaps its due to my playstyle, perhaps its due to how much emphasis that the L1 button has now with the specific abilities, or it could be due to how odd to me having a parry is in a spiderman game, but regardless of the reason, I did not like it. Spiderman is always known better for his agility so it seems strange that he now is encouraged to parry attacks that are very annoying to deal with (for me at least). Don't get me wrong, I liked this game overall as I said earlier (solid B+ to A- depending how I am feeling in that moment), it just that maybe platnuming it in 4ish days has left me noticing the problems immediately rather than upon long reflection.
The game was 10/10 for me!
Sad I’m completely done with it. It’s kinda bittersweet going back to the Resident Evil 4 remake
Additionally. The game is good in most ways but. There are aspects that i didnt like.
I just wish it had an endgame patch that had you do some fun challenging events that allowed you to build your own suit peice by peice im talking gauntlets, footwear, body suit, mask, mods for each piece.
Like for example we can build a shoe that increase poit launch distance or reduce sound for stealth etc.
Im 95% done, i just gotta find 12 spider bots
Damn the game was highly anticipated and it exceeded those expectations. I thought the game should have looked better from textures but I'm glad it was a experience. If we get DLC, I hope it goes on for months.
I'm not gonna complete it because Sony decided to remove the first of Extra, I was planning to get around to it but who knows for now.
*spoilers*
There were two things I really wish they'd done differently. One I was really hoping Vernon would be playable like in ultimate Spider-Man. Only playing 1 mission as him left a lot to be desired. Two, why can't you swap the attack asthetic between the venom look and the anti venom look? They are essentially the same attack it looks kind of silly if you keep wearing the black suits.
You used Davinci for editing?
I have 100% platinum with 34 hours on ultimate.
Thanks god they got rid of the challenges!
I unintentionally 100% spider-man 2 in like 25 hours i wasn't trying to
How did The Golden Bolt make his kids? Screws and nuts
Are we just going sit here and not talk about the thumbnail😂
I went through the game to 100% completion this weekend as well.
What’s the reward(s) you get for beating the game at 100% (I personally don’t care about spoilers)
@@ThaBotmon, so far there's no overall reward for 100%ing the game like the Undies suit from the first game. You do get a special suit for completing each series of side missions, so that's a few extra suits.
@@ericschuller908
Oh I see, thanks!
I 100%-ed and Platinumed without knowing it.
I'm 4 hours in and this game is absolutely amazing im loving it 10/10😊😊😊
Does anyone know a good way to defeat that grey, big symbiote thing that’s in crimes because its really hard to just land 4 punches on him
Parry a lot and use everything you have
