I’ve been making content since 2016. All kinds. Last about 3 years I realized I love hiking and the outdoors. I make sure I go on an adventure every week. As you film and go out on your own adventures, you’ll learn what you need and don’t. What you like and don’t. Just keep hitting that record button, bro. You’re a genuine soul. I can tell. I’m looking forward to watching. This channel will sky rocket as long as you stay the happy honest person you are. Don’t be afraid to leave a mistake or “failure” in a video. It shows you’re human and sometimes the failure is a great blooper too. Enjoy those adventures, my dude!

Hi Arthur, After watching Surviving Ringworm’s channel for years, I bought acreage 1/2 hour south of Houghton. I too had an itch to get into the deep woods and build a shelter. I got stuck deep in the Ottawa Forest and just 2 people were out that day on Atvs and I told them I had a come along and enough cable to winch out and didn’t need help. 10 minutes later a Big 4 wheel drive pickup backed up and towed me out to the main plowed road. We got talking and they said that they all look out for one another out there and to pay it forward anytime someone needs help!! I look forward to watching more of your projects on here!! John

Go with your vision of life in the outdoors. Bless you with the weight loss and your vision of a life outdoors. I am in southern Wisconsin and get up north as often as possible, which is nowhere near often enough. Can't wait to see your adventures on your new property. Who knows, maybe someday we will kayak, hike past each other 👍🏻🇺🇲

Great video! I've been camping here in East Texas (and Oklahoma) for 50 years, but never alone. Always with at least one person, but usually with a group. Everything from nothing but wrapped up in an old quilt next to the fire, to high-end glamping (lots of very expensive equipment). Recently I finally tried solo camping and it was very, very lonely. I felt like giving up on camping after that, but your last three videos have rekindled my feeling of needing to get back in the woods, so thanks very much for that! Looking forward to your next video!

Grab yourself a 20lb tank, buddy heater filter and 10ft hose. You can run that heater as much as you need for a night. Way cheaper than the little tanks!

Useful tip darling: it's safer to wear wool than cotton. When cotton gets wet it sucks the heat out of your body. Wool stays insulative even when it's sping wet. Invest in some second hand woollen sweaters. Try to go for 100% wool. It's not easy now because everyone's been going through a love affaire with polyester. Go with natural fibrres: woollen blankets. woollen socks--they don't ever stink, no matter how sweaty they get. linen in summer, cotton when there's no chance of get ting wet either by sweat or rain. Enjoy!

I don’t comment on RUclips often, but I just wanted to say… Ive watched Campin with Steve, Kent Survival, and Outdoor boys for many years, and you are a new addition… you don’t have the followers that the guys I mentioned have, but your character and personality fit right in… keep doing what you are doing and your channel will have just as many followers.
Campfire cooking is a big reason why people watch these sorts of videos, maybe a dedicated cooking dish every episode would go down well, who knows… anywho…

I used to go camping a lot as a kid, but as an adult, I pretty much stopped. I just recently got back into it a couple years ago, so watching your experiences with this has been fun as I shake off my own rust from not doing it for so long.

Great video. I love your enthusiasm, and the honesty in this video.
You mentioned getting better gear and that will definitely help keep you warmer, but until you can get that gear, a simple roll of reflectix (you can get at most hardware stores) between your sleeping pad and the ground will help a great deal.
I've been kayak camping for about 10 years now, it is always great when I see someone just starting out. Makes me remember what it was like and why I feel in love with the outdoors.
Wishing you only the best, looking forward to seeing where this adventure take you.

And I'm no better, I fumble too...!!! The benefits of getting out are immeasurable, keep it up, oh, and make your own spatula, on camera....👍

I have a similar tent i got a piece of carpet cut to fit 5he floor. Good pick on the tent not having alot of mesh on it. Also you can put a blanket on top of the tent before you put the fly on. If you have a cord door you can leave it open to vent.

On your tent at the door get you a old rug the width of your door to keep some of the outside, outside. You'll learn what you need and what you don't. Don't get discouraged, hang in there. The outdoors is my peace 👍👍

Probably mentioned somewhere, however if not, the condensation you're experiencing is from that Buddy Heater. Burning propane produces a lot of moisture. Another option would be a diesel heater. Uses less fuel and doesn't produce condensation.

You and I are going through somewhat of the same “journey” in wanting to live a much simpler but sometimes harder self supporting/survival lifestyle. I have camped all my life with family and had the best times together but I now just have this undeniable urge to connect with myself and nature and just get away from the hassles of complicated and stressful lifestyle and just get back in touch with myself and all of Gods beautiful handiwork. I wish you the best and can’t wait to see where this journey takes you.
BTW the grilled cheese looked so good I had to make one myself, however being from New Mexico, instead of the Italian seasonings, I put on a thick layer of Hatch green chile. Talk about living !
    Cheers my friend.

Hi Arthur, great content. There are several great suggestions on here, cot, rugs, wool, hand warmers. A moving blanket works great for a tent rug. Until you can get a great sleeping bag I would suggest adding a sheet inside your bag while sleeping. And toe warmers between your layered socks. Thin, warmers, thick. A beanie/touk and knit gloves for sleeping. Teton makes great bags for those of us that are larger people and have a great warranty program. Good luck Sir... oh and maybe watch some Surviving Ringworm. I believe he is in your neck of the woods.
