If you want a multicrew Crusader Ares Inferno experience, try putting an AD5B on the chin and 4 CVSA ballistic cannons on the nose (And set them to staggered fire). You get nearly the same DPS as the Inferno, but you can have a friend in the turret to help out. And you can do box missions and other stuff that needs a ship interior. The only problem is the ammo. You could also try an Ion-type setup with an M7A on the chin and you have a budget Ares Ion. As other comments have pointed out though, it's best to have a fixed size 5, simply because the 4 size 2 guns can't gimbal. Most size 5 guns have a cannon's velocity, so the 4 nose guns I run are usually cannons to match projectile velocities. Personally I like to run with an M7A and 4 CVSAs. The 4 CVSAs I have in the seond fire group and staggered, so they fire more like a single repeater than four cannons. Just use the M7A by itself until you get into a position for sustained fire and let rip with both fire groups. The DPS on the Vanguard's great. Even better with a gunner.
@Olli43 thanks for the videos, always great! I equip my Vanguard by ammo speed: 1400m/s or 700m/s. There are no S5 weapons that fire 1400m/s ammo, leaving you with MVSA and CVSA if you run a S5 on the nose.
My tip for asteroid fields is use the ping. It highlights them up to a far distance so you can judge when you will be coming up on one. And a lot of times you can find a line with no asteroids and just point that way.
Asteroid Avoidance Tip! Turn on "use boost when braking" in your settings. Hit TAB to ping your surroundings as soon as you arrive. Pick a spot of empty space revealed by the ping wave near the target marker that has no asteroids. Fly full throttle keeping your TVI (Total Velocity Indicator - the < > marker) in that spot of empty space. When you need to slow down, you can do so quickly AND ensure that you won't hit anything by holding your SPACE BRAKE button. While space braking, your TVI direction is locked, so you can pitch and yaw at will without affecting your overall direction. Use this to put your bottom thrusters so they push against your overall direction or flip around entirely for a turn-and-burn, which will use your main thrusters to slow down as quickly as possible. Space brake will always fire every possible counter thruster automatically while you hold it down. Doing this, you'll be able to navigate asteroid fields at full speed, crank out hard turns, stop on a dime and never worry about hitting anything. o7
You can also hit the boost button while braking to get the same effect. All of your tips are good though and I expect a lot of people don't know about the "use boost when braking" setting.
Blasphemy about the looks! The Vanguards are the Fighter helicopters of the Verse. They just need a button to open the door from the side. I once lost both sides of my ship and the thrusters were gone. I had to use bottom strafe to make it to Grimhex after QTing just the cockpit and the body area. I managed to crash land at the hangar door.
I like my Vanguard Warden, it is a chunky tank of a ship. The double tail reminds me of a particular WW2 plane. Some people like to take the big gimbal off to do a S5 fixed laser repeater like the CF557 Galdereen or the Lightstrike 5 laser cannon. A fun build is Lightstrike S5 laser cannon for the finisher BFG and for your quad main nose guns use ATVS distortion repeaters. They eat shields faster then disables ships systems so they crash or are unshielded sitting ducks for the cannon. If a player is attacking you in a fighter and you hit the cockpit glass it always glitches out their HUDs and target pips for a moment and the pilot gets blurry vision. You will always know if someone is using Dist weapons by their blue/purpleish colored bolts.
You said it looks ugly, so it used the shadows to hide in embarrassment! Also, it actually says in white (high contrast from the hull) paint above the door: "STAND BACK WHEN DOOR IS IN OPERATION"
Ive been running an omnisky s5 cannon on my vanguard, but for some reason it feels very underwhelming compared to the dps of a full laser repeater loadout f7c hornet. It still does a hell of a job against small and medium fighters (especially when you pair the s5 cannons with the laser cannon nose guns), but against larger ships like a valk and even against a vanguard it feels like it does less damage than it should. Probs just due to my personal expectations of what an s5 should be so yee
The problem with this is that at size 5 and above, there are no weapons with 1400m/s projectile speed. They're all 700 m/s which means if you're using repeaters in the size 2 slots, it makes it very difficult to it a fast moving target with all weapons (and just harder in general to hit nimble targets with 700m/s weapons).
@@davidnewton2518 full laser setup on the vanguard is bad because of its capacitators. They dont have enough charge. I first played with all laser cannon setup ( S5 and 4xS2 ) and then switched to AD5B gatling under the nose + 4 MVSA cannons in the nose. I think you are at a point where you really should start to dynamically manage your power triangle. If you disengage, there is no need to have full power on weapons. Use the time you are not shooting to reload your shields & booster
Power Management Tip: F5/F6/F7 keys adjust your Weapons/Thrusters/Shields, and F8 resets. Switching to full in Weapons will charge them quickly and put a few extra repeater rounds in the mag. Full to Shields bolsters them, allowing you to take more hits before they go down. Full to Thrusters recharges boost faster and expends it more slowly. Learning to swap these as needed and manage your resources will help you dish out more damage and stay in the fight longer. o7
I strongly advise against that. All laser cannons reduces the nose-guns charges to a laughable degree. What i recommend for a Vanguard is S5 gatling under nose fixed ( AD5B or how its called ) because it has 2600 rounds which lasts for ages. And 4x MVSA cannons (laser ) in the nose. With full caps on weapons then you have 44 shots each, times 4.... if you put these on staggered you basically have a laser gatling and and regular gatling and insane DPS. AD5B and laser cannons also have the same reach and velocity, thus aiming with it is super easy.
Sneezing as a pilot is very rare, and just won’t happen in high gravity turns as your body will not have enough strength to do so. If you were in a squadron you would break off slightly for a moment in order to sneeze without the risk of hitting your fellow pilots.

I run VHRTs and ERTs with it all the time. Oh haha, its got a prisoner seat on it which makes it pretty funny when picking up people that are stranded.
For the Vanguard loadout (and for any ship with size 5 hardpoints), you can either go with a s5 cannon, which is a very big improvement from the s4 variant, or all repeaters like you did. With repeaters though there isn't that big of a difference between s4 and s5 so a gimbal s4 is perfectly fine. For PvE though I recommend the cannon loadout, you can basically wipe VHRTs in one pass before they even have a chance to shoot you back; of course if you can hit your shots. For PvP though always go with repeaters: the "bullet" velocity is too slow for cannons to hit any fast moving ship so you don't have much of a choice at the moment.
Small correction: the size 5 repeater looses a lot of velocity while doing less dps than the cannons so if you want to have repeaters keep the s4, an alternative would be the ad4b wich when gimballled auto corrects the velocity difference Edit: I see you have edited your comment. That's good. It now has everything Olli needs to know

I run VHRTs and ERTs with it all the time. Oh haha, its got a prisoner seat on it which makes it pretty funny when picking up people that are stranded.
I don't know about it being a "funny" intro, but it was DEFINITELY relatable! 😂
I had to make some nachos after watching this vid! 😂😋 Thanks Olli!
Yes I also have most of those things myself. Where I log off and then log back on naked losing my gear.
Small correction: the size 5 repeater looses a lot of velocity while doing less dps than the cannons so if you want to have repeaters keep the s4, an alternative would be the ad4b wich when gimballled auto corrects the velocity difference
Edit: I see you have edited your comment. That's good. It now has everything Olli needs to know
Not many people know this but there is a hidden compartment uner the steps of the cockpit in all Vanguards. You can store a box there.
I miss having the time to actually play games like this. Like I've been getting more into star citizen but only through videos because I can't enjoy the game with my amount of free time.
i really love the vanguard
i like to run it with laser cannons all the way 4 s2 and 1 s5
if you build it with repeaters they will have different muzzle velocity and if you leave the main gun on a gimbal, the 4x S2 will not have the option for a gimbal
You just reduce the size 5 to a s4 repeater... And the bespoke guns are always fixed target, no matter what you do. That's the PvP Set up.
@@SuccessTeBestRevenge but he does pve
if you want to play pvp there are two good choices, the arrow or the gladius, they are way faster and much more maneuverable, a good light fighter pilot will win every 1on1
@@Alecks1990 I literally just start murdering people and go on like a month long rampage in my vanguard. Until I’m stopped or until I decide I want to mine or trade or do bunkers and hack it away. CS5 life; shredding lights, heavies, redeemers, manned hurricanes… occasionally you get a player hammerhead..
That ship looks like the pelican from halo when the wings are folded
You also need to try swaping 2 of the 4 nose lasers to distorsion ones, disabling ships and blasting them. really worth it.
Love your videos man! Keep them up - and even have some longer ones, love seeing the verse 👌
its funny, Vanguard's I think are the best looking of the fighters. And yeah, logging out in your ship bed is buggy.
For the rear ramp entry...i think the ship still needs its gold pass so it might improve when that happens, but maybe install a spot light that highlights on the ground where to stand to open the ramp?
Some ships are very hostile to log out in. My Connie Phoenix would try to kill me constantly....
I like logging in and being inside the star 🤣
They do have a way of showing you are not the correct distance to an interactable object its the darker colored green, they likely just don't want the UI to be too intrusive and immersion breaking.
Hey Olli, love the video, lots of fun and has me interested in this. Do you know if I can use something OTHER than a keyboard and mouse when playing this game? I am NOT a Keyboard/Mouse person and hoping there might be other options? Maybe 🙂
Probably you can. “Imagine not having controller support in 2022 🤮” lol
I too need to get the reflection DLC 😄
Easiest way to do ERTs without Torpedos: take a Connie, front Shields on 75%, Staggering and Gyro Mode On, PEWPEWPEW! Melting the HH in no Time 😎
Lol. I can’t wait until you take the eclipse out. Love the videos and your positivity
It’s the sane thing for me and my friend 😂i think you are not alone surviving this bugs 😭😂lol great video 👌🤙
hello Olli, do you use any color filters or something else, your game looks so nice!
Get rid of the gimbal and put a s5 ballistic gattling. Little harder to keep them in the crosshairs but if you can it absolutely shreds ships apart.
Olli43 - compare the Aegis Vanguard to the WW2 Lockheed P-38 Lightning, one of my favorite WW2 planes, along with P-51 Mustang and Vought F4U Corsair.
Literally happens daily since 3.17.2 began, and quite often even before that.
I would not worry too much about the dent in the mirror....being a Vampire maybe more of an issue!
That's why you sleep in your space suit ALWAYS!
Vanguard beds are scary AF!
Gotta lay down and crawl to the turret when you wake up in the warden
lol that was a proper broken mirror
Size 5 deadbolt and size 2 deadbolts. Cvsa I think. Brutal damage with half decent ammo capacity Vs fire rate. You used to be able to load the scimitar torpedoes from the Ballistas, however it looks like it has been patched in .2.
Also get size 3 laser repeaters for the turret. Or whatever suits you. The default dumb fire missiles suck
im using the Omnisky XV + 4 MSVA or Galdereen Repeater + 4 GVSR as pilot weapons on my Sentinel depending on what im doing.
YOU'RE A VAMPIRE! you have no reflection! I'm calling Van Helsing!
Little scratch?... tis not, your tail's off! (Doin' my best Monte Python there)
11:27 the exploding animation loading in as a white square field 😅
Nothing like immersion haha
I subscribed, that makes us friends now. Been playing about a week.
The original design art of the Vanguard was imho a much better looking ship.
Did u notice the security camera just above the shelf you opened, wonder if one day you will be able to view the hab area while in the cockpit?
glad its happen to you as well this is what happens weekly to us all m8
Man, get rid of that Rhino and get a MD6B on there. The 2600 rounds last much longer than you think.
Are you talking about the AD5B? It's deadly and yeah its ammo lasts a long time, but its rounds are 700m/s instead of 1400m/s which means aiming it in concert with the size 2 repeaters will be problematic.
This past weekend was the worst 2 days in a row I've had in 6 months. Game breaking bug after game breaking bug. Had to do a character reset.
Is there a handy cheat sheet for how to get the lag pip to work? My game options are set to "LAG", but the pip still won't stay on target. Also, how do you configure for launching multiple flares at once? I finally learned to use "G" for max missiles cued. How do you lock the gimbal?
Found a PDF of the keybinds. Have to test out the r-alt-J gimbal lock. - (edit grumble) r-alt-G now?
5:30 this is eventually be gone anyway as now the gold standard is having a physical button on the exterior
Size 5 "Galdereen" and set all weapons to 0 (one button firing)
Great video! Game has been incredibly buggy this past week, more than usual. Logged in and was missing $250 k (Basically my whole wallet).Seems I was hacked :(
NEW OLLIE VIDEO WOoooo
Legit quantumed inside a planet. Continued to fly to my marker. Got to my destination and put my landing gear down. Rotated as to land under a landing pad. When I touched down the ship clipped back through the ground. Rotated the ship and touch down.😦
Good flying sir.
Yep, Happened to me more than once in the last couple weeks.
What do you use for your roll and yaw? Both seem smooth enough not to be twist axis on a joystick
The glitch’s you have are 90% of what I deal with when I login I was wondering how you got it stable enough to record but I guess it is luck
Y'all should be demanding these bugs to be fixed. If not they will focus less on them.
Yes another Olli video
Oh damn since the hotfix this week the game went from annoying to unplayable. Until they drop a patch again that solves glitching, even more broken elevators and never ending game and server crashes, I am taking a brake.
I really like this game. I hope one day they will launch it on PS5

Cool Video
The start of the video is why I havent played the game since the siege of orison event. Even then it was only for a few minutes. Im not impressed with this patch and im pretty sure most people arent with the rampant "features"
Had that happen to me the day before so I feel your pain
Every time I watch you fly through asteroids I think...why don't you just fly up and above the asteroids till you get to your target and then fly down on them. It's much nicer and relaxing.
vanguard with adb5 gatling from centermass and mvsa cannons
Space go brrrrr
thats more of aPVP build, laser cannons are better for taking out NPCs
I just hope they make some servers or a server where we don't lose everything when we die . I tried to do a mission all weekend . I never completed it and lost my carrack , cutlass, arrow, prospector, m50, cyclone, greycat, and Ursa rover. That's not fun. Lost my subscriber flair and all my weapons becuse the body glitches in the air .
I want the darn pizza and coffee to be in game and not just deco 😆
Last time that happned to me it broke the stations inventory.
If you think that's powerful try the AD5B ballistic gatling gun size 5 with the stock laser cannons.. It will kill in half the time that you're experiencing
Vanguard is one of the best looking ships bc of the turbines don’t you think?
logging in clipped out or clipping into space was funny like the first 100 times now I just don't care very much about the game anymore.
Lol HOW do you have so many ships! Insanity!
Ollie leaving the blast doors open. Is triggering me.
