Fun fact: This episode isn't gigantomachia's first appearance. He was seen in season 2 for the first time when stains message was being heard. We see dabi, toga, spinner, mustard, and we see gigantomachia in the forest listening to the radio on his neck. And we also see him in the "Red Riot" episode and he was asking the school girls for directions to the hero agency and then mina intervenes.
The villain in Kirishima's flashback is not confirmed that is Gigantomachia, is something the fandom thinks because the villain looks a lot like Gigantomachia. But honestly I want it to be true.
In the opening, we can see Midoriya throws the stick to Asui, who attaches the apple to it, then throws it into the air for Sato to toss sugar into the air, with Bakugo using Explosions to heat it up in order to make it a caramel. Uraraka uses Zero Gravity on the apple and tosses it through the caramel, only for Todoroki to freeze it, setting the caramel. Kirishima breaks the ice, and (I’m assuming) Mirio catches the finished Candy Apple for Eri It's literally so sweet
Regarding Overhaul, genetically, he has a quirk, but he needs his hands to use it, so he is essentially quirkless. Bakugo can explode his sweat, but only on his hands, and Ojiro just has the tail. If it got cut off, he would be in the same situation of having the right genetics but not being able to use it.
Then again, if overhaul could find someone that can copy quirks, he could use them to restore his hands, even if its badly done, just one barely working finger would probably be enough for him to fully restore himself.
@@hoosting1998 or he could get one of those booster drugs which he probably knows how to easily get and be an actual god like being. Remember Rikiya (the guy who's quirk sucks life force to strengthen himself) needed contact to absorb life force but when he took the booster drug he was able to absorb the life force in his nearby vicinity. Imagine an Overhaul who can assemble/disassemble without even touching anything, that's pretty much AFO level.
Actually horikoshi did reveal some really important information about this issue in one of those a mha ultra analysis guidebooks, but I’m not sure if that’s considered a spoiler since this information wasn’t even revealed to us in the manga, in fact the reason why this information is not well known is because hori mentioned it in one of those mha ultra analysis guidebook. With that being said do you want me to reveal the information anyways?
Oh yes! Here it is. I mentioned this in a comment on Season 3 Episode 13 I think? The dorm contest episode, whichever that one was. Love that detail, so cute how the nickname rubs off on Kaminari.
The large figure with a radio back in Season 2, the large guy that scared Ashido and Kirishima this season. Gigantomachia. Note when he showed up earlier this Season, he was asking for the "Springer" hero agency because his "master" needed something. One of All For One's quirks was spring-like limbs.
The way Mirio is able to deflect Midoriya's heavy question because he's so solid with where he's at. The idea of passing quirks is so crazy as we saw from Deku's reaction when All Might first told him about it. It'd be so easy to get overwhelmed worrying about what exactly Deku is on about here with this "if I could give you my quirk" stuff. Mirio immediately shuts it down and tells him how it is. The voice acting for both character's was great in that scene too, you feel the hurt in Deku's voice and then Mirio is just super chill: "nah bro you're good, you were sick af dude did you see yourself?" And in that little flash of Mirio's conversation with Aizawa you get to see Mirio breaking down and Aizawa comforting him, I like how Mirio isn't this emotionless super human who somehow wasn't effected because of his ideals. Of course the loss of his quirk hits him hard, he did cry, but by the time Deku talks to him he's found his center again with it and had time to process. Very well done showing both sides of the coin there without having to dedicate a whole scene to it (even if I would've liked the whole scene with Aizawa, it wasn't necessary, the quick flashback says a thousand words).
A lot of people don't like the next arc because it's very slice of life and there's not that much action, but I personally like it a lot. It's a breather after all of the stuff that went down in the overhaul arc.
It’s really hard to weight how much people like this arc. I feel like people who don’t like it are just very vocal. There is plenty of people who love it but they are not as opinionated. Also I have a feeling when the series is over a lot of people are going to change their minds about which arcs are they like and dislike.
The Goodwin life seems to be all sorts of ridiculous. He's swam to an island carrying a girl He made acquaintances out of a Korean gang On his first day of high school, he was invited by seniors to come to a park, and do a Pokémon battle? Something like that. Annoyed some of his students by *not* assigning homework. Learned badminton and proceeded to beat the girl he was seeing who taught him. And that's just off the top of my head. Who is this man? What secrets does he hold?

This is one of my favorite endings in the show, especially when you take the time to look at all the pictures and characters. And yes, all the pictures are either characters we've seen or about to see as kids
When you see that ending with some more context, even some context of the next season, the ending becames so better, the feeling into it, makes it, for me, the best ending of the series Also, im pretty sure (not completly, and thia isnt a spoiler) that mirio wasnt sweating, i think he was crying, like he wants to be happy and smile, and i would say he is, but like any real person, he also can break down into tears thinking about the memories with sir nighteye and probably a little bit with his quirk loss, as he now dosnt have his best tool to save people
Mirio Is definatly not okay. A small shoot of him in the ending is of him crying in his bed in the dark over what happened. And I think a big reason Mirio Refused Izuku's offer so fast is that I don't think Mirio really knew what He was talking about. He, unlike nighteye, doesn't know about one for all so I think he thought Izuku meant hypothetically.
Look, I learned to love this opening over time to the point where it became one of my favorites. It takes time, but once you see more of the arc and lock yourself in a room and listen to it on repeat, then you begin to love it. Of course, this is just my own personal experience, glad you loved it on the first listen. It just took be for surprise. Also, there are two characters in this arc that became some of my favorites. Right up there with Mirio and Eri. Also, Gigantomachia was the one that nearly killed Ashido and her friends in Kirishima's flashback. The voice and him talking about his master gave it away. Another note, as the season goes on, keep looking at the pictures in the ending. You'll have much more context on some of the pictures and characters.
FINALLY THO, the tribute to the greatest age of comic books, The Silver Age. Idc if other people dont love this arc, I do because god damn it let the 15 year olds be KIDS FOR A MINUET. PS: In the ED the first 3 Photos; Young All Might, New characters (meet soon), New Character (meet eventually) - Second set of photos; Young Mirio and Tamaki with classmates, Young Fat Gum with classmates, Young Present Mic and Eraser with blue haired person in bg, - Third Set: New Character, Toga with Classmates, New Character - Fourth Set - Todoroki Family + One New Character (who has been mentioned before ;D )
A small detail in this episode with plenty of symbolism is in the meeting with Endeavor and All Might. With their first encounter during the Sports Festival Arc, All Might is the number one hero and at the top of the stairs while Endeavor is halfway down them. This time their roles are reversed with Endeavor at the top of the stairs and being number one.
Idk if you saw but with subtitles on you see Miro fought for 15 minutes the last 5 where quirk-less. Kinda disproving all might in ep.2 of you have to have a quirk to be a hero. Miro is amazing
Well, he was gonna die in that fight. He was able to keep going but by the time Deku and Nighteye get there he's on his last legs with 2 spikes impaled into him. If Mirio of all people was still losing the fight after 5 minutes, then yeah, it's looking pretty infeasible to be a (pro) hero without a quirk. There's of course examples in canon of quirkless "heroes" taking on villains with quirks outside the main series, but it's really rare and you certainly have to play dirty to stand a chance.
So much My Hero left still, and than you'll get to watch episode 6 air weekly next year! AOT weekly reactions gonna be coming up kinda soon as well, gonna be some newfound territory in the channel that I'm really looking forward too. Week long discussion inbetween episode drops are gonna be insanely fun especially with this community.
Overhaul; Has only ever used his hands to use his quirk Goodwin: He's not quirkless now is he? Idk how to tell you this buuuuut.... I also want to point out; Uraraka is going through a very common form of guilt thats felt a lot in first responders/rescuers who have had patients die "if only I'd been faster..." My mom has been in the medical field all my life so many family friends are nurses, doctors, emts, firefighters, etc. I've heard those exact words come out of a friends mouth when he did everything he could to save a man who still died and it tore him up a lot, sometimes you do your best but you still cant save everyone.
11:12 Might be a joke but as deku explained during the previous episode, he used the wind pressure to propell himself in the air by kicking it to keep him up there just like all might's new hampshire smash during the final exam arc
Note a burnt picture with the Todoroki's during the ending. And that the corner of the picture matches the background of the picture of little Todoroki and his parents.
Kirishima has as much experience as deku, doesn't he. Both were at the first season nomu attack, all for one attack, and shigaraki attack. Then deku fought stain and kirishima fought drug-enhanced-knife-guy. Both of them have had a breakthrough in the use of their quirk, deku learning how to meter his quirk and kirishima learning that having a defensive quirk doesn't make you a weak hero (and learning to become even harder, but that seems like a less important breakthrough)
Notice the little interaction between Mina and Kirishima? I have shipped it since the first reference to "Horn Buddies"... And Mirio is one of the best human beings in anime, let alone this show. :D
I died when he started wondering how toga's childhood was like. I need an ambulance. Hopefully he notices the burned picture on the ending for future reference.
Certain quirks can only be used through/with certain body parts. Like with Uraraka having to initiate a 5-point touch with the pads of her fingers, Overhaul has to use his hands to touch what he wants to dis-and-re-assemble. As far as we know, it's a limitation of their quirks to require touch like that. If it helps a bit more, Aizawa has to look at someone to erase their quirk. His eyes are the body part his quirk works through. He could touch someone, but it wouldn't erase their quirk - the energy that emits from his quirk to disable others' quirks can ONLY be emitted through his eyes and for Uraraka and Overhaul, the power that allows them to use theirs only works through their hands. ...it'd be hella cool if Uraraka could kick someone and send them weightless though.
0:41 never thought of that, now I want overhaul to come back in the future, hope he can get someone to restore his hands, but looking at his face at the end I think it is for real the end of overhaul, I hope is not, cuz I really like his character, probably he comes back with a diferent mind, trying to do the best for his people and not only for what he thinks is right
Not a spoiler, but you've seen Giganotmachia before. He was the giant man that was questioning those girls in Kirishima's flashback. When he wanted to help them but froze up and Mina Ashido helped them instead. It is more obvious in the manga than in the anime.
It is said that everything Overhaul touches can be destroyed and fixed. Just touch, not just "by hands". If only overhaul thought like Deku that he can also use his legs 😂. So yeah, basically Shigaraki just cut off his arm. But that doesn't make him quirkless (because his quirk is on his Genes, not his hands). He just made the quirk useless, for now. There's ways like Eri's quirk the can make his arm grow back(which is I don't think would be utilized for him because of what he did) or other ways because... It is My Hero Academia. So many possibilities for plot twists.
Mirio is just too pure for them to have. He rejected One for All because if he takes it Deku will be quirkless. He rather to think on others' dreams first.
I never noticed this before you mentioned them meeting on stairs... but the first time they met All Might was on a higher floor than Endeavor, but now Endeavor is on the higher floor. It shows their positions of power in metaphor ... or maybe I'm reading too much into it?
When you said red swan, did you mean red sparrow? Because yes. But also, pay attention to the opening because one of Endeavor's scenes in the opening song will make a lot more sense as time goes on (and you finally get to meet my two favourite character in the entire series!!! One who is new, and one who is.... made new) The ending song for this arc is actually the most revealing of all of them! They are indeed kid photos of relevant characters, from heroes to villains. If you pay attention you might recognise a bunch of characters you met in the Yakuza arc, while others you'll meet in this one.
When are you planning to watch the second movie? As much as I can’t wait fir you to watch it…. It came out around the time in the show you’re at now. But takes place about half way to 3/4ths through season 5. So it has some spoilers if you watch it chronologically

Also, im pretty sure (not completly, and thia isnt a spoiler) that mirio wasnt sweating, i think he was crying, like he wants to be happy and smile, and i would say he is, but like any real person, he also can break down into tears thinking about the memories with sir nighteye and probably a little bit with his quirk loss, as he now dosnt have his best tool to save people
Mirio Is definatly not okay.
Speaking of Mirio in the new opening, note the silhouette of Nighteye's glasses in that shot.
"What was toga like as a kid I wonder?" Oh boy
15:33 Yes, we call him Dadzawa
great job as always! the arc is needed so bad after the first half of season 4 really just kicks the crap outta ya.
Mirio facing every new day with a smile is so inspiring
"Is this the Red Swan of MHA? What's the truth?" Lmao don't start :D
Every SINGLE character in the ED in those pictures are existing heroes and villains in their younger years
A small detail in this episode with plenty of symbolism is in the meeting with Endeavor and All Might. With their first encounter during the Sports Festival Arc, All Might is the number one hero and at the top of the stairs while Endeavor is halfway down them. This time their roles are reversed with Endeavor at the top of the stairs and being number one.
Here it is. Next two episodes are the ones we all want to see Goodwin react to.
I am expecting at least 40 minutes of commentary and opinion
Shout out to Tokoyami!! It's his birthday!
Just one day off from Halloween.
He was so close.
Happy Birthday Tokoyami
"I know the feeling of dominating over one's enemies". Umm, what have you been up to?
Oh hey, it's my favorite MHA arc! This is gonna be a good time.
The "haven't been back here in a long time" comment about the dorm is even more so considering how long the arc took in the manga.
12:33 Oh no...that reminds me of one particular scene later on...
"Does Gran Torino even deserve to breathe?"
-Goodwin 2021
There's no way I could ever forget Doo doodoo
Overhaul's Quirk requires he use his hands, with them gone he's completely helpless
Note Tokoyami wasn't at the dorm, because he's the only one with Work Studies still.
Overhaul; Has only ever used his hands to use his quirk
Goodwin: He's not quirkless now is he?
Sad RUclips removed the overhaul fight 😢is there anywhere to watch your reaction?
Patreon
"What was Toga like a kid, I wonder" Just wait
I think if you look closely in the outro you can see that in deku's room he got the 10th anniversary poster that nighteye owned I think.
The instant Nighteye died Deku was sprinting Full Cowling to the agency to cop the 10th Anniversary poster. Not letting that one get given away.
Calm before the Storm.
I died when he started wondering how toga's childhood was like. I need an ambulance. Hopefully he notices the burned picture on the ending for future reference.
Just got off work and now Ima have a late dinner while I enjoy this video 🗿
Deku offering Mirio One for All is such a beautiful selfless moment.
Episode 14: All Might's sidekick dies from a villain
Episode 15: All Might's teacher and best friend arrest a villain
Is it bad when you said “glass?through glass?” at 6:42 I immediately thought of akito from Fb?
I will always remember doo doo doot o7
0:20 if im not wrong was overhaul's quirk work touch something with his hands, so if he loses his hands doesn't that mean he cant active it?
I realized when Hawks' picture showed up in the end credits, he hasn't even shown up yet at this point has he?
Mirio is just too pure for them to have. He rejected One for All because if he takes it Deku will be quirkless. He rather to think on others' dreams first.
i love the rest of this season :))
I never noticed this before you mentioned them meeting on stairs... but the first time they met All Might was on a higher floor than Endeavor, but now Endeavor is on the higher floor. It shows their positions of power in metaphor
... or maybe I'm reading too much into it?
14:31 she looks so sad :( I feel really bad for her
When you said red swan, did you mean red sparrow? Because yes. But also, pay attention to the opening because one of Endeavor's scenes in the opening song will make a lot more sense as time goes on (and you finally get to meet my two favourite character in the entire series!!! One who is new, and one who is.... made new)
The ending song for this arc is actually the most revealing of all of them! They are indeed kid photos of relevant characters, from heroes to villains. If you pay attention you might recognise a bunch of characters you met in the Yakuza arc, while others you'll meet in this one.
Who in their right mind would forget doo doot doo?
And so the Dadzawa continues
Happy Halloween Goodwin!!! 🎃
Overhaul cant use his quirk its like if Aizawa lost his eyes Overhauls quirk is located in his hands no hands=no quirk
Love this intro
When are you planning to watch the second movie? As much as I can’t wait fir you to watch it….
It came out around the time in the show you’re at now. But takes place about half way to 3/4ths through season 5.
So it has some spoilers if you watch it chronologically
Just waiting for ep 23 and 25 now xD. ❤️
Thumbnail making you look like you're considering going for Mirio's neck or something, lol.
YIS the arc with the best villain!
