Mitski is just the embodiment of uncontrolled emotional power. She plays hard and fast but it's simple chords and you can hear the strings buzz. She has a powerful voice but she veers off key and sometimes ends up crying her vocals more than she sings them. She's unrefined and she captures the room without any back and it's amazing to watch.
I would argue she is controlled even in her most uncontrolled moments. She is an artist, which means when she does have unrefined raw passion, it is still very purposeful. One of the greatest artists of our generation.
