Thx for the explanations! I’m a beginner and in my 60’s, so I think Western will be easier and safer for me to learn, even tho’ I think English looks elegant.

Once I tried English I knew it was for me, I couldn't go back to a western saddle. For me developing the skill it takes to ride English is what it's all about! So much more sporty, refined. And the lighter saddle has to be more comfortable for the horse.

I agree. I like the close contact with the horse and the “sporty” feel that comes with riding English.

    English, it's girth
English saddle: you can feel the horse.
Jumping has knee rolls, & a release hard on the iron.
The flat saddle is for gaited or some pleasure classes. Or dressage which is even a different cut.

A release bar on the iron ##
      Word change sucks.

Awesome video, thank you. Its annoyong when i cant find the video to answer my question! You answered it exactly. Now, can any horse be trained english, or is there a difference between english horses and western horses. Or maybe i should ask, are some horses better auited for english vs others. Say, stockier, cow, qh type.

I thought learning English is better for beginners since it's easier to go from English to Western than it is to go from Western to English. i learned Western when I was about 9, and then stopped. I want to start again, and I'm considering starting back up with English

Yes tbh you should learn on English first. Because you can’t switch to English from western you can only switch from English to western .❤
