Dude, I'm right there with you lol. After playing this game as an adult, I have no clue what I was doing when I was a kid to get absolutely nothing done for so long!
I'm the exact opposite; I had a hard time getting into A Wonderful Life but I had no issues with Magical Melody and enjoy that game far more than I did AWL. I think a lot was art style for me. I vibed a lot more with the colorful models and overall environment. It's a pain sometimes (especially with training the horse, at least for me)but overall, to me it feels like a nice little comfort game to come back to every once in a blue moon.
I get that, AWL isn't everyones cup of tea. For me, games are all about "feeling," and since AWL was my first HM game, I'm always comparing the feeling I got from AWL to every farming-esque game. I try my best to treat every game as it's own experience, but it can be tough to seperate that lol. That being said, I've really enjoyed Magical melody, and it's now a close #2 in my favorite HM games.
It's now a solid #2 on my list of favorite HM games. I agree with you that it's tough to explain why I like it so much. Maybe it's the ability to track your progress through the notes whilst still having that unique HM atmosphere? Anyways, I'm enjoying the playthrough much more than I thought I would lol
@@JackDuckGoose can’t wait to see you post more of it! It is funny something you said about games being about “feeling”, I think that really is it, especially when it comes to HM games. I played Magical Melody as my introduction to harvest moon, so I’m sure some of the magic is just that it was my first experience in a genre and series that I fell in love with.
Magical Melody was a mixed bag for me. It wasn't incredibly difficult to complete the main objective, and marriage wasn't too hard either, provided your intended spouse wasn't Jamie or someone who could leave town. But the core gameplay of growing crops, raising animals, and mining was such a PAIN. Foraging was also a chore. Items didn't stack, and it took FAR too long to go back and forth between forage areas and the shipping bin. You could waste a whole in game day doing it. And don't even get me started on scraping together building resources. But despite these complaints I did enjoy the game over all, and came back multiple times to try courting different spouses.
I agree! Magical Melody can really feel like a slog sometimes. Those pain points you mention are only exacerbated by the stamina bar and farmer condition. Some days, I felt like I worked from 6 AM to 5 AM the next day, and only got half of what I wanted to get done because I was constantly running around looking for food or for a villager to give gift to. Even with all that complaining, it still is a fun game that I think would really benefit from a remake/remaster.
Marriage was kind of a pain as a girl. When pregnant your energy is only a fraction of what it usually is, but dear husband isn’t gonna help of course.
Magical melody is still one of my faves, theres such a large and awesome cast of characters and the notes aspect made it feel like you were realling living a LIFE not just a grind. Would also love to see a remake so so good
I honestly think that Magical Melody would benefit more from a remake than AWL. There is so many potential improvements in terms of QoL that would make a MM remake so desirable!
AWL was great to really get nostalgic gamers into Story of Seasons (as many still didn't know it's the new title for the true Harvest Moon series). Magical Melody was the almost perfect HM game to me. The mini games were fun, it was cute, simple to track your progress, so many dating options. If it could add an adoption system and make everyone a potential romance option and fix the stacking item annoyance... it would be perfect. Especially if they added more musical notes to go for.
Magical Melody was actually my introduction to Harvest Moon and I love it. And this video kind of follows how I tend to play with the rush to get as much done as possible. I know the game so well, I believe I can manage to get 10 notes in the first two days. With some cheese. Start the game, stay inside, run for about 15 minutes and get the 10,000 steps. Stand still for a few seconds and get that note. Head to the diary and spam save. Four notes and time has yet to pass. Grab your fishing rod, bonfire kit, watering can, and axe. Head out, start visiting people, and at the junk shop purchase the Pot. Get another note already for having several recipes. Once you've visited every shop that's open the first day and met most of the villagers (you can skip the Doctor for now), head home, pick weeds, and toss them away. Pretty quickly you'll get the Garbage note and start the Weed note. That's six. Stay outside until you get your first weather note, foraging for food as you chop branches. You should be safe to fish and cook them on the bonfire, but I seem to have issues sometimes where I don't get my weather notes doing this, so I wait until I have that one before I make a bonfire and start fishing. You have no seeds, but you can grab your hoe and till your fields in preparation, or just alternate between fishing and cutting wood or picking weeds. You can run inside and cook your fish with the Knife Set to make Sashimi for the Cooking Note and to get started on Big Eater, or just use the bonfire since putting it out also gets you a note. Either way, I tend to stay up all night. Come morning, I get Night Owl, making for 10-12 Notes. First Steps, 10,000 Steps, Stationary, Diary, Sun, Cooking, Fire Prevention, Super Chef, Garbage, Night Owl, maybe Woodcutter and if I decided to be a bit careful, First Shipment. The game doesn't always give 2 notes in the morning, so I usually don't have the Poor Note, which is why I avoid shipping unless I want to carefully plan what I ship and buy to ensure I stay below 500 until I get that note. I've also made progress towards Weed, Expert Angler, Master Angler, and Big Eater. Day 2, if it's Sunny again, I meet everyone else (I hold off on the doctor still to save time), including going to the lake, plant my free seeds, then usually either cut wood, whistle, or plan out future crops with tilling until I pass out, meeting the Doctor and getting the Limitations note. Usually this time guarsntees me finishing the Woodcutter note. If it's Cloudy or Rainy, I forage to keep my energy up, cut wood if I don't have woodcutter, or whistle to waste the day, then after getting the note for the weather, I let myself pass out. I sometimes do that even if its still Sunny just so I can get the Whistle note or the Weed note. Assuming I didn't already have Woodcutter, that usually brings me up to 12-14. All in 2 days. And I'm set up for Poor when it comes. Extend it to the first week and I usually have Poor, Lone Wolf, Big Eater, Master Angler (100 fish), Weed, Whistle, Island (it's really fast), Destruction, Forest, and depending on my luck, Rain and Rubber Boots. If I push myself, I can also have Cultivation and be waiting on Gardening with Grass planted in preparation for when I get animals. And if you really hate yourself and love to cheese games, buy the Frying Pan instead of the Pot (or buy it after a couple of days of shipping fish and foraged items), then you can buy Bell Peppers from Liz and make Fried Veggies as well as plant a ton of Cabbages to make Fried Veggies with. Bell Peppers are bought for 135 G and Cabbage Seeds for 40 G. Fried Veggies only require a single ingredient from its recipe list, so you can use a Bell Pepper or Cabbage to cook it, but sells for 300 G. High quality cabbage sell for 340 G, so ship those as they are (you can also really push yourself and ship 50 Cabbages to unlock Strawberry seeds for year 2). Since you can't reach all 9 spots for your cabbages, you can get only 8 per seed bag, but that means that for every 40 G you spend, you can make 2,400-2,720 G, a profit of 2,360-2,680 G. The reason I say "if you really hate yourself" is because this makes it completely possible to make enough G to purchase a Chicken Coop, Barn, Cow, and Chicken in your first Spring. The Barn and Coop cost 16,000 G total plus 110 Lumber. 110 Lumber is rather reasonable to cut yourself in Spring if you push yourself, or buy it 50 G each for up to 5,500 G more. A Cow is 1,700 G. If you're smart, you'll buy an Egg for 120 G and put it in the Incubator instead of buying a Chicken for 600 G. So depending on how you do things, that's 17,820 G if you buy and Egg and chop the Lumber yourself, up to 23,800 G if you buy all of the Lumber and a Chicken instead of an Egg. That means you need to sell 60-80 Fried Veggies. If you're buying the seeds, that's 8-10 bags of seeds, another 320-400 G, which isn't a lot of money. But cabbages take 7 days to grow, more if you're unlucky with soil quality, so even if you split it up you need to do at least 3 fields of cabbages (3+3+2 or 3+3+4), which is 24 squares to till right away and 24 to water every day it doesn't rain. From experience, that's pretty well all of your stamina. Especially if you're fitting in time to get all of those other notes I mentioned. You might be able to manage 4 harvests if you're lucky with soil quality, but keep in mind you start the game Spring 2 and its a Monday, so you can't buy seeds until Spring 3. If you choose to buy Bell Peppers, that means you need 8,100-10,800 G extra to purchase enough Bell Peppers. To fully catch up, you'd need around 130-145 Bell Peppers to balance out. And with an inventory limit of 5 (10 if you want to add 4 more Bell Peppers), that is a lot of running back and forth between Spring Farm, your Kitchen, and your Shipping Bin. Whatever option you choose, it is a lot of tedious work. Which is why I say "if you really hate yourself", because you do all of that just to have a cow and a chicken in your first Spring, letting you put in more work to get the Fodder, Egg, Brushing, and maybe Milk notes ASAP. At that point you may as well go the extra mile to get the Very Rich note in your first Spring. As I know from experience, if you go for the Cabbage option for this, you can very easily have the experience for a Silver Watering Can in your first Spring. Gold if you decide to also ship 50 Cabbages to unlock Strawberries and get the Gardening note.
I'm so excited to see Magical Melody! This is easily the Harvest Moon game I've put the most time into over the years, and you clearly did your research to get as much done as possible in such a limited amount of time. If this had been blind and done with no planning, there probably would've been a lot of things you missed out on! (Glad you found the lake cave in winter, that music is by far my favourite music in Harvest Moon to this day just like this is hands down my favourite Harvest Goddess design) For the sake of the series and who you should marry, I'm honestly partial towards Gwen as a candidate! If it weren't a challenge series where you're trying to get all 100 notes and do as much as possible, I'd recommend taking the chance to marry Jamie because while it takes a lot of extra work to do, I think it's the most interesting route and it gives an actual concrete end to the game that I think everybody should see at least once. I don't think they've implemented anything like it since because Harvest Moon is usually a game that continues endlessly outside of a handful of games. It's a fun ending, but it would cut you out of playing the game unless you reloaded to before you proposed to Jamie. I like how Magical Melody does actually have consequences for not interacting with villagers often enough or shipping something that corresponds to them. There are a set few that stay in town no matter what, but your departures of Basil, Carl, and Tim were because you didn't pay enough attention to them or ship what corresponded to them! Basil can be brought back by shipping enough flowers, Carl will be brought back by shipping enough eggs, and Tim comes back with enough ore shipped, I think. Magical Melody is a game that I think would really benefit from a remaster that gives some quality of life changes like inventory management, updating to be able to marry any candidate regardless of gender, and actually making the horse faster than your running speed (and rival marriages because each bachelorette DOES have a corresponding bachelor, but I doubt they'll ever implement that again if their remaster of Friends of Mineral Town was anything to go by).
Thanks for watching! The lake cave music is super groovy. I've created a save to see the Jamie proposal and marriage scene for the next video, but I'll probably use the main save to marry another bachelorette and get the 4 music notes associated with them. I've been able to get Basil, Carl, and Tim to stay in the village for a good while. I didn't have the resources early game to keep them super happy, but as I've progressed, it's been easier to keep them around. I would definitely be interested in a remaster of this game! I think this game, more than other HM games, would really benefit from some QoL improvements and a fresh coat of paint. The notes alone make it a unique experience that I would like to see remade.
@@JackDuckGoose My fingers are definitely crossed for a remake one day! I think they could do a lot to improve upon and add depth to the experience that is Magical Melody. The number one complaint I see is always about the inventory management, and I think being able to stack items of the same type up to a certain amount would go a long way in how willing people are to give the game a try! Maybe add a little more depth to some of the villagers, too, because I remember someone I saw review the game once said the villagers felt very cookie cutter (I disagree, but I'm always for more character depth and personality!) But yeah, the notes were a fun touch and were implemented well. They give you a sense of progress, and it's kind of like earning achievements on a game system that doesn't have achievements! If you know what you're doing, it is easy to get the required amount to revive the Harvest Goddess as you've shown, and her being able to refill your stamina once a day is a nice reward! I don't recall if you get any bonus like that in other HM games. Too bad her spring is on the other side of the map and it takes a fourth of your day just to take the jog up to her. Maybe if they implemented a way for you to be able to fast travel to properties you own in a remake?
@@dwglr I agree with you on the characters. The most recent video I saw "reviewing" the game was by Peanut Butter Gamer, and he said they feel like "husks of people." To a certain extent, I understand where he's coming from. There isn't much of a reason to talk to the villagers outside of a festival. If they do remake the game, maybe giving each villagers a special item they can give you or maybe even a quest system like in stardew where you bring them requested items for money would flesh them out a little and give you a reason to interact with them. A fast travel option would be pretty neat. I know you can purchase the land up by the harvest goddess, so if you really wanted to, you could put down a house and a bunch of farm land out there and it's easier to utilize the goddess stamina boost. There is plenty of room for improvement in a remake that makes me excited for it even if it isn't confirmed lol
If you'd like a pro tip, something I always did was save some of the seeds for crops. There is an exploit where on the last day of a season, you can plant next seasons crops and they'll grow for the season. Example: On the last day of spring, plant some summer seeds you've saved and they'll grow the next day!
The fainting animation in this game is still on of the funniest things i've ever seen. The loud *THUD* when the player hits the ground is what makes it. xD
This was the one Harvest Moon game I struggled SO much with as a kid. I had no idea what I was doing, how to get supplies, get animals. I was stealing wood from wherever I could pick it up, I was broke all the time...oof. If they ever remake it I hope adult me is now capable of figuring it all out.
Lol that's almost the exact way I felt. I was just running around doing whatever my silly child brain thought would be fun. It definitely makes a lot more sense how to do stuff as an adult
This game is so nostalgic, I used to play it all the time on my family's GameCube when I was 6-7. My main memories from HMMM as a kid was petting the animals in the barn, milking the cows and making mayo and butter with the machines and collecting the chicken eggs, having Kurt as my husband, eating the poisonous mushrooms and passing out from them, and almost crying over Jamie. I miss this game so much, and I'm so glad I got to see this video for some fresh nostalgia!
Lots of fond memories seeing this game again. Played the Harvest Moon Games during a very stressful, busy time in my life and they kept me sane and gave me great vacations to a sweeter place than reality.
Really excited to see if you do another 100. I never had this game growing up because it was hard to find at my local gamestops and internet shopping was still in infancy in some places, mainly rural areas like mine lol. This has been so fun to watch !
Thanks so much for watching! I was lucky enough to live in a decently large town as a kid and was spoiled for choice with places to buy games. Now that everything is digital, it definitely makes it easier to enjoy a game you want to play, but there's something lost in not being able to hold the game you own, you know?
This game holds a special place in my heart. The first time my best friend stayed over in elementary school, she convinced my mom to rent this game for us from our small town’s Movie Gallery. There wasn’t enough space on my GameCube’s memory card to save our data, so we played as far as we could and then had to return it. It was my first HM game, and even after I got my own copy it still retained this weird sense of mystery and nostalgia. The only game I wish I could play again for the first time. Thanks for the video!
having us close our eyes in the beginning to hear that darling music just touched my heart, thank you for understanding how important this series is to so many!!!
This was such a nostalgic video! I played this game with my brother after finishing Another Wonderful Life. We were both very young and didn’t understand the progression in this game, so we didn’t get far, but I remember having a lot of fun! My favorite bachelorette in Magical Melody is Gwen, but I also like Eve, Lyla, and Nina.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing! My brothers and I only played AWL, and I'm the only one who attempted MM. I definitely didn't understand it or think I was progressing, so I gave up on day 10 or something lol
Thanks so much! I really like making the long videos! They're always fun to edit and watch back since my "style" in terms of narration and editing change so much over the course of a long edit.
Growing up I played all the entries in the Harvest Moon series other than 64, but this is the one I spent the most time in. The greeting noises everybody made, making friends with the animals in the town, the sheer amount of marriage candidates there were if you didn't mind playing through the game twice; I remember utilizing four memory cards worth of saves. Jamie being my favorite Gender and being the first special marriage candidate I ever married despite knowing it would end my game. I think part of why this game and AWL held my attention longer than some of the older ones was how long the game introduces characters and the village changes just that little bit over time. Part of that of course was me taking my sweet time to meet the requirements to have some people move in that I didn't have the ability to look up as a kid without a home computer, but the result was the same. I also liked that you had to go grab the blue feather yourself. Something about that felt like you had to really want to get married. Thanks for putting so much effort into these longer MM videos. It's hard for me without a TV to play my old copy of MM, this felt like hanging out with old friends. Very nostalgic 100/100
All of your points will always lead me back to the belief that a remake of this game, done right, would fight for the top spot of the best HM/SoS game. There bones for this game are just so good that a couple of tweaks here and there would make an all time great farming game. Thanks so much for you comment and the kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my stuff and leave your story!
I always appreciate how much time, energy, and effort you put into these videos. I can't even imagine how long it must take you to compile all of this, but it truly is a joy to watch. You naming your sheep "Cactus" now makes me wish we had some mutant, spiny-skinned sheep (or Pokemon), and as a Liz lover, that early clip was a personal attack against me. Thankful that you gave this game another shot and hope you discovered a new level of love for it that you didn't find before!
Thanks so much! Your comment means a lot. It is quite an undertaking with script writing, narration, clip compiling, editing, etc. but it's a labor of love lol. MM is now a solid #2 on my list of HM games and I'm enjoying the playthrough a lot more than I thought I would!
Really hoping this gets remade as a Story of Seasons game so I can have all my favorites on my Steam Deck! This game doesnt get enough love for mashing a ton of past characters into one game ❤
Absolutely loved to see you play this. This game was a favourite of mine growing up. I really enjoyed your video. Not only was it good to see MM. but your commentary and editing was great as well. Love to see it!
Thanks so much! Your comments mean a lot! AWL was my first HM game, so that will always be my favorite, but MM is slowly becoming my second favorite, just in front of FoTM!
I remember playing this game a lot as a kid, love the swimming game. Was looking at the marriage candidates and apparently you can marry Bob if you’re female. If you marry Jamie then the game ends, reminds me how in the old Harvest Moon games if you play as a girl and get married the game ends while if you play as the boy and get married it still continues. You did more in the game then I ever managed to do in all my life as a kid, I don’t think I ever revived the Harvest goddess. Another game that has those kinds of goals would be Sunshine island and DS cute, have both games but never got all sun stones or sprites. Watching this made me want to replay those games with getting the actual goals in mind. Also honestly thought you were planning on marrying Ellen. I say marry Ann, she’s cute.
Thanks so much for watching! I never knew that some HM games end if you play a girl and get married, seems kinda unfair lol. I definitely realized I was playing the game "wrong" as a kid after playing as an adult. Also, Ellen was just the closest to my house and liked flowers so I started working on her affection since it was time efficient lol
Iv started a Harvest Moon/ Story of seasons podcast called Mineral Town Times, and this video made me decide to absolutely play this game for the show, thanks and keep it up!
Nice! I'll have to give that a listen! If you do end up playing Magical Melody, its a pretty slow burn. The early game is super taxing with the stamina being so low, only being able to hold 5 items, and a mountain of stuff to do. It took me about 10 hours to really get into it.
@@JackDuckGoose I’ve played it one time and I just powered through the game and really didn’t do much besides water plants sleep repeat, so I’m excited to get into it
I can't remember why Ellen became the focus for gift giving so early. Maybe it's because of the proximity of the ranch to my starter home lol. Thanks for watching, Ellen!
Absolutely adore this frickin’ game. Remember first getting it at a cool vintage game store with my grandmother when I was a kid. We used to play it together and she still brings it up all the tome. I play it every now and then for that hit of nostalgia. :)
Awww that's a nice experience! I love playing older/retro games to get that chilling experience of hearing a OST for the first time in a while or just being back in a world that reminds me of a simpler time lol
Holy crap dude. Actually closing my eyes and listening to that opening theme gave me CHILLS. I haven't played since 2007 and I played it nearly every day since it released. Love this game to death, can't wait to see what the rest of the video holds!! Edit: okay now that half of my childhood has been properly relived, can you play HM Animal Parade next?!? it was my absolute favorite installment of the whole HM series!!
I watched this when it first came out, but I listened to it while I was falling asleep. Now I’ve watched it again all the way through! I’m so excited for 200 days.
Honestly glad i came across your channel. Love the wholesome videos you create. Would love to see a 100 days in stardew valley or animal crossing! Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for watching! Animal Crossing 100 days is an interesting idea. It would be kinda hard with the in-game days being tied directly to your console.
Yooo this entire video is just chock full of my entire childhood. Lost my entire mind when the chao garden music from SA2 started playing! I really wanted to get into Magical Melody when I was a kid but it was so intimidating back then- especially when I saw my brother playing well into year /4/. I’ve tried a few times to complete it but I don’t think I’ve ever made it past year 2 spring? Irregardless I actually squealed when I saw a video that was this long about it, and I’m really psyched to see if you do another 100 days!
Thanks so much for watching! There will definitely be another 100 days since I've recorded up to ~ Day 150. MM is pretty intimidating, but I found it was much more enjoyable towards the end of the first year. Also, SA2 chao garden is one of my favorite "mini games" ever of all time and I would buy a stand alone game where all you do is raise Chao's. SEGA needs to get on that plz thnks.
Since the game ends if you marry Jamie, that would leave 4 music notes that I couldn't get. I'll create a savepoint where we do marry Jamie to get the cutscene, but I'll definitely marry another bachelorette to get those notes lol Thanks for watching!
I had multiple HM games as a kid but Magical Melody is the one I spent the least of hours in as I struggled to get the hang of it. This is making me want to explore the game again.
Honestly, I was exactly the same! I don't know if it was cause I was a dumb kid and didn't understand the mechanics, but it's been so much fun to play now that I know what to do lol
@@JackDuckGoose that's good to know! honestly i grew up playing FoMT so I think MM was a bit too complex to get a head start on in comparison, and the graphics were too zoomed in and I didn't like not having a bird's view of what I was doing. Now that I'm older I'm sure it would be much easier. I like that it has an end game (collect all notes) that other HM games do not have. The ability to buy multiple plots of land was cool too.
magical melody was my first harvest moon game ever, so it's by far the most nostalgic for me. super happy to see a playthrough here and I hope we get to see more!
Thank you for this video! Magical Melody is one of my absolute favorites in the series, and I was so excited to see someone playing it again after all this time. Looking forward to days 101 through 200. ;)
Thanks so much for watching! I'm really glad I gave it a second try. It's way better than I remember it being in 2008 or whenever I first played it lol
This is a childhood favourite, so many fond memories playing alongside my sister, I sent her a screenshot of this video as soon as I saw it out of pure excitement, thank you for all your work on this ❤🎉
This brought me so much joy! This game is by far my favourite/ most played of the harvest moons/ story of season games, closely followed by animal parade I think. I hope you do continue on to show the rest of the story with your character, and this has reminded me how much I enjoyed this game and will have to look it out again soon :)
Thanks so much! I'm glad my video could bring back some nostalgia-based dopamine lol. I'm at around Day 150 right now, so there will definitely be another 100 days!
this is easily one of my favorite harvest moon/story of seasons entries! it probably hammered down a lot of the elements i seek in farming games. my whole family was obsessed with this game! my grandmother printed an entire gamefaqs guide and stuck in a three-ring binder. thanks for this trip down memory lane, so nostalgic!
Thanks so much for watching! I love all the stories I see in comments talking about your experience with a game. I get an adjacent dopamine hit knowing that a RUclips video could draw out some nice memories. Also, Grandma goes crazy with that gamefaqs guide. I don't think my grandma knew how to use the internet lol
@@JackDuckGoose gaming seems to run in my family! she and my parents were all hardcore WoW raiders and my first games were on grandma's snes, n64, gamecube, game boy color and gba. she introduced us to harvest moon, pokemon, final fantasy and other jrpgs, and zelda, which remain some of my favorite series :)
@@devilcinderella That's awesome! I guess my grandparents inadvertently introduced me to farming games as they owned a farm and my parents gave us farming games thinking we might like them since we spent a lot of time on my grandparents farm lol
I really enjoyed this playthrough! This game has such a special place in my heart. It's always been my favorite Harvest Moon game. No matter how many years pass, I always come back to this game and AWL.
Thanks so much for watching! I'll admit that MM was never my go to so I don't have the nostalgia factor when playing, but it's kinda nice to have a new experience with an older game!
I always watch your long videos in the gym doing cardio 🥰 Thank you for spending sooo much time to record and edit your videos for our entertainment 🙏🏻
Thank you for this video! This must've taken ages so appreciate the amount of effort here especially editing and keeping it so entertaining. I use to play magical melody on the wii and remember really enjoying it because of how many villagers there were! I liked being a player with all those options! Love the video though and look forward to more harvest moon installments 🤩
New SUBSCRIBERRRR. I LOVE harvest moon. I literally can hear this games music as your playing it in my head and exactly what I was doing during each day. Thank you for this ❤
I'd love to see you play Animal Parade at some point! Easily my favourite Harvest Moon game - I still really miss rival marriages as a mechanic, the newer ones all feel like they're missing something without it. Absolutely love your channel, feel we don't get enough Harvest Moon content on RUclips!
I've never actually played Animal Parade since it was a Wii exclusive. I might have to give it a try since I know a lot of people like that entry lol! Thanks so much for watching! Harvest Moon/ Story of Seasons definitely deserves more love on RUclips! I'm hoping all the reamkes coming out get people excited for any new additions Marvelous has in store!
so happy to see a new video from u omg, i've been checking back on ur channel every week or two! thank you for all the effort you put into your content
No problem! I've been moving house recently and have had 0 time for anything outside of packing, unpacking, etc. But now that I'm done, I have a lot more time for making stuff so I'm hoping to get more videos out soon!
Hopefully this is the next one on the production line for a remake lol. I know they're making new games for SoS, but I do enjoy all the recent remakes they've been dropping
I remember playing my friend's copy of MM while she was sitting next to me playing Watchdogs. It brings back memories of a very nostalgic time, even though I wasnt able to get very far in the game.
I love all of your videos! I never played this one, I always stuck with Wonderful Life as well so this is a treat! Thanks for the time and effort. Appreciate it 😊
Thanks so much! I'm write there with you on sticking with AWL lol. The art style and vibes are always too familiar and it's tough to get out of my comfort zone.
I just started playing this again too! Finally was able to get a GC emulator and have been loving reliving this game. Can't wait to see your playthrough and choices!
Thanks so much! I really like the diversity of crops in this game. I wish they had more options like the strawberry where you have to sell a certain amount of crops to unlock new ones.
You just seem like a genuinely good person 😊 Really loved your video! Also this is one of the games i spent hundreds of hours in as a kid! I recommend marrying Lyla
Thanks so much! I'm bad at accepting compliments, but I appreciate it! I think I have about 50 hours in so far, but they really fly by lol. I'll mark down your vote for Lyla!
I love this video, I know it took a lot of work but im glad you posted it :) This is my favorite Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons title, and I hope they make a remake of it someday
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. A remake for this game is now at the top of my list of anticipated titles. I think this game has an amazing premise and core mechanics, its just a little rough around the edges. Some QoL improvements and an updated art style and graphics would make it a fantastic remake
Marvelous and XSeed seem to be on a remake spree, so I'm crossing my fingers that they remake this one with some QoL improvements. I'm putting my money on 2026 for a remake!
Thank you so much for watching! Honestly, I slept on it and I'm so glad I gave it another shot. It's so much better than I remember it being and deserves a lot more praise for how unique it is.
Thanks so much! Magical Melody was always that game I had laying around that I meant to play, but never got to. I always preferred AWL or FoTM, but I'm starting to prefer this one to FoTM lol
Surprisingly HM AWL was my first game too, but I found that I played MM a lot more because of the replayability and generally there's more goals in MM that you can grind to.
Definitely. Magical Melody has really grown on me in that regard. I find that the characters are a little less "quirky," but there is a lot more to do outside of interacting with villagers and farming.
ive never played much harvest moon but you make the games look so fun! love your videos and maybe its a long shot, but id love to see you try out rune factory! i played so much of rf3 when i was a kid
I assumed that the notes the bachelors send are just Bros talking to bros about girls, but it's funny to think that they're just into you like that lol. I understand not wanting to go back into a game with so much nostalgia, I feel the same way about Legend of Zelda: Windwaker.
I lovwd this, I've been binging old Harvest Moon content and this was one of my all time favorites! I would absolutely watch to 100 notes! ♪ (i think i stopped playing at 99 because i didn't want ot to end)
Thanks so much! It's nice to be able to make stuff again. The past couple months have been spent house hunting, purchasing a house, moving, unpacking, etc. and it left 0 time for editing, script writing, or streaming. Now that most of the new house stuff is done, I can get back to playing games lol
I think Magical Melody would greatly benefit from a remake. I could really envision a Animal Crossing: New Horizons style direction that would make this game amazing lol
Would love to see you finish it! Also, my favorite harvest moon game was Animal Parade. IMO one of if not the last, great Harvest Moon game before Natsume cut ties with the original developers.
I love this game it's my favourite out of all! The art of animals and people I just can't pick another! This game is so cute! Thank you for this video ❤️
I didn’t play this Harvest Moon game and loveeee AWL so it was cool to see you cover it. And your commentary made it hilarious! Also why does the main character look like a big baby to me? The body just looks like you’re wearing a onesie and diaper 😅
Thanks so much for watching! It seems we're pretty identical in terms of our experience lol I didn't play MM too much as a kid cause I would always just play AWL if I wanted to farm. The art direction is a common sticking point for a lot of people. The characters do look like babies in adult clothes lol
Bamboo does in fact decompose, although it is difficult to do so in an accelerated fashion with home composting methods. At a composting facility, it can take anywhere from 45 to 180 days to fully decompose.
Thanks! I didn't put that in there for artistic purposes. I used those 10 seconds to break into your house and steal the batteries out of your TV remote.
I want a mod where the villagers get freaked out about you knowing their favourite stuff and things without them telling you, always knowing where they are at any given time and eventually leading up to them catching on that you don't actually exist in their world, or that your character isn't the _character_ but *_you_*
After watching this I would like to commend you for somehow beating a horse race without ever raising it's speed lol. If you build the windmill you can put corn in it for unlimited bird feed. I look forward to any future videos of this game :)
Lol Thanks! I wish the Horse actually moved faster than running speed or I would ride it a lot more and train it up. I'll have to buy a windmill and put corn in it in the next 200 days!
@@JackDuckGoose I’ve played this a few times before, but this time around i’m in Summer year 1! I have a barn with a few animals, 30 notes, and currently i’m trying to marry Alex lol. But also working on getting notes from all available bachelors/bachelorettes
@@ekennedy0099 Nice! I really started enjoying the game around summer and fall of year 1. I had some stamina power berrys unlocked and had enough money to start expanding lol
I never thought i'd see a 100 days of video for a hm game, im really happy. I wonder if this might inspire anyone else to also do it for other hm/sos titles c: i'd particularly love to see it for hero of leaf valley but thats bc its a hugely underplayed title (even compared to the gb and snes titles) Will enjoy this nostalgia trip, i was a p young teen back when i played mm.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you got a nostalgia burst and I hope a nice dopamine rush. I've never played Hero of Leaf Valley, but I'll definitely look into it! If it's like the other Harvest Moon games I haven't played, I'm sure I'll enjoy it lol
@@JackDuckGoose it has a really fun take on the mines so def would be a fun one to try c: Thanks for all your hard work though, it was a great time watching the video c:
@@chaosdestructionlove Thanks for watching! I've already watched a couple videos on HoLV and it looks pretty fun. Might try it out privately before brainstorming a video
Thanks so much for watching! That is probably the most common gripe a lot of people have with MM, myself included. The character design is super goofy lol
I feel the same way! The first two seasons were tough to get through, but once you get some money, power berries, and an expanded rucksack, it's hard to put the controller down lol
Love this game! AWL is my favorite but this game is probably number 2! Having the musical notes as a goal makes me to play magical melody differently than I do AWL so it’s a nice change of pace. The music is also so calming
I think I'm right there with you. FoMT has always been #2 for me, but I think MM has taken up that role. Like you said, the notes give you something to aspire towards, but there is still plenty of stuff to do outside of them that keeps you playing!
Magical Melody was my FAAAAAVORITE when I was younger. It (apparently) came out when I was 13 years old and I remember playing it for *waaaaay* too many hours. I wish that it'd get a proper re-release (perhaps with upscaled textures) instead of that horrible Wii monstrosity that straight up removed an entire player gender. also, you have one of the most relaxing voices i've ever heard in my entire life. time to watch ALL of your harvest moon videos i guess I GUESSSSSS
Lol thanks so much! I 100% agree that a proper remake of MM would be an amazing game. Updated graphics, a refreshed artstyle, and some QoL improvements would be an awesome edition to the franchise.
I will never forget that I got to keep a copy of this and Another Wonderful Life as a kid because the place we rented it from went out of business literally the day we finally got around to returning them. Funny that 10 year old me understood to even remember to not let people move out.
Lol I have a lot of friends who had a similar experience. These villagers moving in and out is getting on my nerves. I just want them all to stay for one day so I can get the note lol
Thanks so much for watching! I'll definitely be playing more and you should try to replay it! It's a bet of a grind early, but it gets addicting after the first couple seasons lol. Your vote for Nina has been noted lol
The speed reading and spam whistling really got me laughing, I loved this!! Are you going to do more 100 days HM games? My fav is Animal Parade so I’m biased 😅
I'm definitely thinking about it! There's a lot of stuff I'm interested in making with the AWL remake coming out and finishing up the MM playthrough, but it's wide open after that!
Hi! Could you do Harvest Moon Animal Parade or Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility? I'm loving all your videos! All these games were my childhood favorites and I feel so nostalgic and relaxed when I watch your videos. Keep it up!
@@JackDuckGoose replaying them with my nostalgia makes it hard to gauge their actual quality, but I am surprised how much I’m enjoying it. The stamina system is cumbersome and the loading screens are frequent and lengthy. Other than that, I’m having a blast.
Magical Melody is one of the VERY FEW games I completed entirely. It's my favorite Harvest Moon and no other Harvest Moon entertained me nearly as much as this game. I hope they make a remake, I'll buy it so quickly.
It took me 4 in game years when I was child to get half of all the notes lmao what a ride, this is still the HM game I'm most nostalgic for! I remember everything clearly, down to what I named my favorite cow (her name was Martina which was a very cow name to little me) and I married Alex cause i only had to gift him herbs to get him to like me. I hope we get a remake at some point now that AWL got one
I remember playing this as a kid and got 10-20 notes and just giving up lol. Maybe the mountain was too high for a very impatient version of me, but now I find that climbing the mountain is the most fun. I am also hoping for a remake! I think remade version of MM could be one of the better HM/SoS franchise entrants!
Me and my sister played this all the time but every time she got married it would corrupt the save file so never got further than that, thanks for the nostalgia great video 👍
Whenever I think of Magical Melody, all I can think of is how the farmer's character model looks like they're wearing a little diaper. Like, what was that choice about?
I never played this game, never saw anything of it, but I instantly knew when seeing Kurt that young me would have the biggest crush on that weird little chibi guy.
This guy made more progress in 10 days than I ever did through my entire childhood lmao
Dude, I'm right there with you lol. After playing this game as an adult, I have no clue what I was doing when I was a kid to get absolutely nothing done for so long!
Same!
Can't believe this game has almost been out for 20 years. Was easily a childhood favorite, glad to see you playing it!
True, that's how I know I'm getting old lol. Thanks so much for watching!
Hey, good news for you - Trio of Towns and Magical Melody have been confirmed to be next for Story of Seasons remakes.
@@francisco646 That's awesome! I never got into Trio of Towns either since it was on the 3DS and I was over handhelds by that point lol
@@francisco646 Wasn't Trio of town like really really bad tho?
@@SisterTheohild I liked trio of towns I thought it was fun because I really liked the characters
That being said, I've really enjoyed Magical melody, and it's now a close #2 in my favorite HM games.
id love to see another 100 days of this!
Definitely! There's still a good amount of stuff to accomplish even outside of getting all the notes!
This was my favorite harvest moon game of all time, can never explain why. Love this game. So nostalgic
I’m hoping that if they remake this one next, they’ll introduce some major quality of life updates
Magical melody is still one of my faves, theres such a large and awesome cast of characters and the notes aspect made it feel like you were realling living a LIFE not just a grind. Would also love to see a remake so so good
I agree! Magical Melody's characters and notes really do give you more of a reason to play. I feel like a remake would be amazing for this game
I want this to get a story of seasons remake so badly! It was always my favorite harvest moon entry along with a wonderful life.
I honestly think that Magical Melody would benefit more from a remake than AWL. There is so many potential improvements in terms of QoL that would make a MM remake so desirable!
Me too! :D
I would put this guide up on GameFAQs as the perfect starter guide lol.
I'm so excited to see Magical Melody! This is easily the Harvest Moon game I've put the most time into over the years, and you clearly did your research to get as much done as possible in such a limited amount of time. If this had been blind and done with no planning, there probably would've been a lot of things you missed out on! (Glad you found the lake cave in winter, that music is by far my favourite music in Harvest Moon to this day just like this is hands down my favourite Harvest Goddess design)
For the sake of the series and who you should marry, I'm honestly partial towards Gwen as a candidate!
Maybe add a little more depth to some of the villagers, too, because I remember someone I saw review the game once said the villagers felt very cookie cutter (I disagree, but I'm always for more character depth and personality!)
But yeah, the notes were a fun touch and were implemented well.
Ohhhh that's a great tip! Thanks so much! That exact same thing exists in AWL, but I never thought to try it in Magical Melody. I'll give it a shot!
The fainting animation in this game is still on of the funniest things i've ever seen. The loud *THUD* when the player hits the ground is what makes it. xD
Lol facts. The way he just gives up and face plants is the best.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad you got a nostalgia hit from my video! Those are always the best lol
Lots of fond memories seeing this game again. Played the Harvest Moon Games during a very stressful, busy time in my life and they kept me sane and gave me great vacations to a sweeter place than reality.
Video games are the greatest escape. Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and the Sims have been the closest thing to therapy I can afford lol
@@JackDuckGoose did you ever play Harvest Moon Animal Parade?

I can honestly say your channel is the only one that I get excited over when I see long-form videos. Thanks for all the hard work you do!
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad that you enjoy my stuff!
I feel the same way about AWL! It just feels good to fire it up and listen to the intro music, soundtrack, and be back in the world!
having us close our eyes in the beginning to hear that darling music just touched my heart, thank you for understanding how important this series is to so many!!!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you felt the same way watching it as I did making it!
I definitely didn't understand it or think I was progressing, so I gave up on day 10 or something lol
loving this so much! I want another 100 days and the “long” video format is so entertaining! keep up the great work!
I would like to pass on my free pizza and breadsticks, double it, and give it to the next person
Woohoo! That's like 4 pizzas and breadsticks I need to get!
Really hoping this gets remade as a Story of Seasons game so I can have all my favorites on my Steam Deck! This game doesnt get enough love for mashing a ton of past characters into one game ❤
I agree! Magical Melody is defintely slept on. A remake would be brilliant and I can see it being an objective 8.5/10
@@JackDuckGoose I’ve played it one time and I just powered through the game and really didn’t do much besides water plants sleep repeat, so I’m excited to get into it
I'd love to check this out, where can I listen?
It's an honour to share my name with your first max heart villager, and a tonne of the festival cutscenes! :)
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
I watched this when it first came out, but I listened to it while I was falling asleep. Now I’ve watched it again all the way through! I’m so excited for 200 days.
Same! I'm up to day 154 so halfway done with collecting footage for the next part!
Can’t wait for 200 days! I vote for marrying Jamie.
Since the game ends if you marry Jamie, that would leave 4 music notes that I couldn't get. I'll create a savepoint where we do marry Jamie to get the cutscene, but I'll definitely marry another bachelorette to get those notes lol Thanks for watching!
@@JackDuckGoose You learn something new every day
I had multiple HM games as a kid but Magical Melody is the one I spent the least of hours in as I struggled to get the hang of it.
The ability to buy multiple plots of land was cool too.
thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos. i love watching them! ive never played magical melody so its even more fun to watch
Thanks so much for watching! Hopefully, Marvelous drops a remake and you get to enjoy it with some QOL updates and a fresh coat of paint!
magical melody was my first harvest moon game ever, so it's by far the most nostalgic for me. super happy to see a playthrough here and I hope we get to see more!
Yay! I feel the same way about AWL so I'm glad I could give someone a nostaliga-induced dopamine rush lol. There will definitely be more!
Your editing is awesome! I lost it laughing when the loud knocking on the door happened.
Lol thanks! I try to not over saturate the video with memes, but some of them are bangers
This is a childhood favourite, so many fond memories playing alongside my sister, I sent her a screenshot of this video as soon as I saw it out of pure excitement, thank you for all your work on this ❤🎉
Thanks so much for watching and sharing with your sister! It means a lot!
This brought me so much joy! This game is by far my favourite/ most played of the harvest moons/ story of season games, closely followed by animal parade I think. I hope you do continue on to show the rest of the story with your character, and this has reminded me how much I enjoyed this game and will have to look it out again soon :)
Also for picking a wife I would love to see Maria or Nina as haven't actually completed their routes/ seen others do those routes.
Your commitment and beautiful editing skills are flabbergasting!!! I can’t thank you enough for your effort
Thanks so much for watching! I'm hoping to have the next part in this series out in the next week!
Exactly what I needed, never played the game, but now I might
You should definitely give it a try! It's a slow burn so it might take getting to fall to really get the most out of it.
I always watch your long videos in the gym doing cardio 🥰
Thank you for spending sooo much time to record and edit your videos for our entertainment 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for watching! I do the same thing at the gym lol. I'll just watch a long-ass video so it doesn't seem like I'm in pain
Thanks so much for watching! The amount of villagers, bachelors, and bachelorettes are great. I'm spoiled for choice and that's how I like it lol.
New SUBSCRIBERRRR. I LOVE harvest moon. I literally can hear this games music as your playing it in my head and exactly what I was doing during each day. Thank you for this ❤
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I’m ready for this remake to drop. This was the first Harvest Moon I played and I loved it!
Hopefully this is the next one on the production line for a remake lol. I know they're making new games for SoS, but I do enjoy all the recent remakes they've been dropping
I remember playing this game while my friends watched once, they even debated who was the cutest to marry.
Personally, I'm a big Eve enjoyer lol
I just stumbled across this channel. Love the videos. Just so much nostalgia
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like my stuff!
I remember playing my friend's copy of MM while she was sitting next to me playing Watchdogs. It brings back memories of a very nostalgic time, even though I wasnt able to get very far in the game.
Yeah, MM needs a lot of time and effort to do everything the game has to offer. It's worth it if you have the time lol
I love all of your videos! I never played this one, I always stuck with Wonderful Life as well so this is a treat! Thanks for the time and effort. Appreciate it 😊
I also love the small funny edits here and there. Not overdone but always genuinely make me smile or laugh. Good job!
Good luck with your playthrough! Who are you going to marry?

Im at work but i cant wait to watch this during break, magical melody was one of my favorite games as a kid
Such a good video again!! I remember writing my own farming guide as a kid for my younger sibling so we could plan out our crops better
I love this video, I know it took a lot of work but im glad you posted it :)
This is my favorite Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons title, and I hope they make a remake of it someday
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. A remake for this game is now at the top of my list of anticipated titles. I think this game has an amazing premise and core mechanics, its just a little rough around the edges. Some QoL improvements and an updated art style and graphics would make it a fantastic remake
Absolutely loved this game and I wish there was a remake for Switch!
Marvelous and XSeed seem to be on a remake spree, so I'm crossing my fingers that they remake this one with some QoL improvements. I'm putting my money on 2026 for a remake!
I LOVE magical melody and feel like it doesnt get much hype, so thank you for playing it!
Thank you so much for watching! Honestly, I slept on it and I'm so glad I gave it another shot. It's so much better than I remember it being and deserves a lot more praise for how unique it is.
Ahh! I always wondered what that harvest moon game I used to play was but could never remember the name 🥹 This is it! I’m so excited to watch!
Thanks so much! Magical Melody was always that game I had laying around that I meant to play, but never got to. I always preferred AWL or FoTM, but I'm starting to prefer this one to FoTM lol

@@JackDuckGoose no thank you dawg
LOVE this. I've been playing this again too and I might make a video like this
You should! It's a great game once you really get into it
Surprisingly HM AWL was my first game too, but I found that I played MM a lot more because of the replayability and generally there's more goals in MM that you can grind to.
I've never played RF, but isn't there a remaster coming out soon? If so, I might give that one a try!

I was obsessed with magical melody. It was my first harvest moon game, would love love love to see a remake of it
I think Magical Melody would greatly benefit from a remake. I could really envision a Animal Crossing: New Horizons style direction that would make this game amazing lol
Would love to see you finish it! Also, my favorite harvest moon game was Animal Parade. IMO one of if not the last, great Harvest Moon game before Natsume cut ties with the original developers.
I will definitely finish it with Animal Parade being my next "series" if everything pans out!
I love this game it's my favourite out of all! The art of animals and people I just can't pick another! This game is so cute! Thank you for this video ❤️
Thank you so much for watching! Everything in this game is super cutesy lol. It took my a while, but I think I'm coming around to it!
The characters do look like babies in adult clothes lol
i had this on wii growing up, i was obsessed with it. happy to see it getting some recognition
It's a super underrated title in my opinion. I think it deserves a remake since there is so much potential in it!
Bamboo does in fact decompose, although it is difficult to do so in an accelerated fashion with home composting methods. At a composting facility, it can take anywhere from 45 to 180 days to fully decompose.
Geez, I guess sending it out into the ocean isn't the worst way to do it then lol
That was a really good intro lol, I wasn’t going to close my eyes but it was worth it
Thanks! I didn't put that in there for artistic purposes. I used those 10 seconds to break into your house and steal the batteries out of your TV remote.
I want a mod where the villagers get freaked out about you knowing their favourite stuff and things without them telling you, always knowing where they are at any given time and eventually leading up to them catching on that you don't actually exist in their world, or that your character isn't the _character_ but *_you_*
Sounds like a decent horror game tbh lol
After watching this I would like to commend you for somehow beating a horse race without ever raising it's speed lol. If you build the windmill you can put corn in it for unlimited bird feed. I look forward to any future videos of this game :)
Lol Thanks! I wish the Horse actually moved faster than running speed or I would ride it a lot more and train it up. I'll have to buy a windmill and put corn in it in the next 200 days!

Thanks for the video! I really had fun watching it!
But the art made the characters look like they're big baby wearing a diaper tho hahahaha
Thanks so much for watching! That is probably the most common gripe a lot of people have with MM, myself included. The character design is super goofy lol
it's always difficult for me to stick to a magical melody playthrough but this video makes me wanna play it again!
I feel the same way! The first two seasons were tough to get through, but once you get some money, power berries, and an expanded rucksack, it's hard to put the controller down lol
I just got the harvest goddess from this game tattood on me last night! This made me want to find my game cube and see if it still works
Magical Melody Goddess is S Tier Character design so that's pretty sick lol
This makes me want to play this game so bad!! I love this game. Yes please play more! My vote is to Merry Nina. ❤

Me too! It's a lot better than I thought it would be and I'm crossing my fingers for a remake lol
It took me 4 in game years when I was child to get half of all the notes lmao what a ride, this is still the HM game I'm most nostalgic for!
