The hobby is so ruined for me sometimes..... But then theres the un-ruining of the hobby! I do that too, alot, feels like I fix stuff more than I ruin it sometimes!

The people who cry out "You're ruining the hobby" are the ones ruining the hobby. I've never in my life joined a worse network of hobbyist than FPV Drone pilots. For a hobby that doesn't require another person to participate this community loves to shit on each other as if someone else's flying affects their enjoyment.

I think we should define “ruining the hobby” because it’s a pretty broad statement. Guns are also used in war and I have no issue getting one of those in the USA. Furthermore a lot of technology we use everyday was originally developed for war. The internet itself was funded by ARPA, now DARPA
Rules are there for when theres a problem, not for all the rest of the time. So if you cause an actual problem with your drone then they will be like, 'did you follow the rules?' and you'll be like 'no' and they'll be like 'ok well here's the fine then'
I remember back in the day when Trappy first released his videos and people were talking about him ruining the hobby; that was over a decade ago... Like you said the actual regulation came when companies wanted the airspace; as soon as that happened then the real restrictive rules started.
Well, I was living in Istanbul for a few months. And at this time guy with an fpv drone made some “bloody mess” at local GoKart. And all of the pilots instantly get restricted by the government in a few ways. BUT I don’t think that this is a problem. At least, if not this guy - other guy would “ruin” everything. I'm a farmer in NZ. The current drone rules are stifling advances in technology. We should be using these drone to measure pasture several times a week and do many other jobs on farm, we have the research and tech to do it right now. But no one is going to invest more and set it up properly, unless they (the authorities) relax the drone rules. It's the same story, it doesn't matter what hobby, those that break the rules will do crazy stuff regardless of the rules and the regulations will only effect law abiding people.

No-one is going to invest more and set what up exactly? Are you really willing to pay a drone pilot several times a week? Or, why don't you buy a drone, and use it on your land yourself? Measure your pastures with it yourself, spray them too when you like with it, and you know what, maybe even use it to seed your pastures or whatever else you need to do? Who would stop you? Or would you be breaking the rules? But who would know either way?? I'd love to hear more about all of the above.

Much like the satellite images commonly used today, the down side to satellite is cloud cover. The part I’m unsure of, is how to convert a jpg photo into accurate kg DM/Ha. The solution is unlikely to be released unless drone rules are relaxed or they could been seen to be promoting breaking the law. I have an Air 3, I can use waypointmap to import a waypoint mission, then use Image Composite Editor to stich these images together (all free). Using that as a transparent underlay I can create accurate maps in AutoCAD. The part I’m missing to measure grass covers is the software to turn that image into kg DM/Ha. I use my drones on the farm weekly. One useful task is finding leaking water troughs. I got a call yesterday from a neighbour who was doing some land drainage, he asked if I could fly over and map it for him. Hypothetically if I was to do these tasks, the farm is several km across and the neighbour is 4.4km away. The difference between a successful Farmer and a failed one, is knowing which rules to break and when. I grew up in the 80’s, a few of us had RC cars, I had the Tamiya 1/12 Midnight Pumpkin Monster Truck. We’d go down to the local shopping centre and rip them around. The reactions we got were no different to drone operators today. Yes, we had some Karen’s even back then.

I fly at dozens of small local places such as schools, churches, club buildings, and parks. Everyone knows me and is fine with the quad flying. What I do first is help out each of the properties by never damaging anything, and never leaving a mess at all. In addition every other time or so I police the area with a garbage bag to help keep it clean and appealing. This has gone a long way as most of the workers at these locations would and have given me a hand retrieving quads that I have gotten stuck. Yes crashes of course, it is what I do best. Grimm the only thing I am not a fan of is some of the rules regulations, and facts that you state without seeming doing research. In this video for example, saying the FAA would introduce new rules does not seem to make sense. Congress meets and tells the FAA what they have to do. Hello FPV People, i am totally new to Drones, i Just order a Avata 2, next week i get the package! I made the buy and so happy, i keep seeying videos and soon i discover the FKN RULLES :o... I never imagine this have so manny rules... So, i am from portugal, i live in upper south of portugal, dont have Airports here, dont have military places here, nothing Of these restricted areas here! I just want to go forest, near water, surfing trees and learning To fpv far away from people and Houses... I want to regist drone and my as a pilot, and make the test... Someday when i see i really want to continue this hobby! ... I am thinking making account on dji only for now and go ride ..! one day if i want to continue this hobby and want to start flying more near to some location, more near houses i will make all the steps needed to be LeGaL :) AND I WANT THE HAM FILE TO GET FULL POWER OF THE AVATA 2 🎉🎉😅😅. I am not familiar with the laws in Portugal for drones, so I’d make sure you’re aware of them. In the USA we have a few rules we have to follow and basically some of the rules are flexible to a point. For example there are some pilots here that will fly without a visual observer, and the FAA doesn’t have the resources to realistically enforce that rule with everyone, so as long as pilots aren’t doing anything super dangerous like flying over people or along busy roads, then usually there’s no issue. But if you do a lot of very dangerous things with your drone and you post it to the internet, it’s going to make it easier for the FAA to penalize you for doing something reckless. Also even if you don’t post anything to the internet, I’d still advise against doing anything that could potentially cause harm to someone else because if an accident were to happen, you’d be in trouble. Also in the United States if you fly FPV with a DJI video system you don’t technically need a HAM license because DJI has an FCC stamp that allows for their hardware to be used without the operator having a HAM license, but I don’t know how it is in Portugal.

With category c1 we need to do drone and pilot register and do a free test online, dont get high than 120 meter and dont fly at more that 60kmh... I think is only that! With drones more than 900gr we need online test and presential test too! And maybe some more! I am new to this hobby! I dont wanna fly more than 120m high, is limit here.., i dont wanna go to restricted areas or near! And where i live is a lot of forests and some locations! I want to get far from houses and all! Maybe is better register i dont know 😝 i will see...! If no register etc only dji and Some radars can see is somthing in the air?? Or if you crash some property or car... Or some neighbor get angry! Police here is Basic,maybe dont know the drone laws too... Its a risc, but.... How can the FAA regulate something they did in Canada. We dont have regulations on sub 250g drones. Our regulations are from Transport Canada not the FAA. We can fly over people, cars, no height or VLOS restrictions. Only Class F airspace and restricted notams are the only place we cant fly. Section 901 of CARs just stats use good judgement. Which is the only must we must follow as sub 250g flyers.

I think the FAA giving you guys regulations to follow gives the hobby more relevance and an official niche for guys who are more professional in their conduct.
Question, since you have a lot of this thought through, what are thoughts chasing animals like birds or lets say deer, for example i have a couple vids focusing chasing birds. I never hit them and also consider myself ready to move out of the way if they come at me. Considering we factory farm animals and have pets, and hunt, i dont consider documenting animals reckless though i always see people telling me not to.
I dont think its thatmuch worse than scaring them away normaly maybe a little more stress. (Aslong as you dont chase them for long periods of time / get too close). I think other land animals care alot more since they prob can hear better?

Also in the United States if you fly FPV with a DJI video system you don’t technically need a HAM license because DJI has an FCC stamp that allows for their hardware to be used without the operator having a HAM license, but I don’t know how it is in Portugal.

With category c1 we need to do drone and pilot register and do a free test online, dont get high than 120 meter and dont fly at more that 60kmh... I think is only that! With drones more than 900gr we need online test and presential test too! And maybe some more! I am new to this hobby! I dont wanna fly more than 120m high, is limit here.., i dont wanna go to restricted areas or near! And where i live is a lot of forests and some locations! I want to get far from houses and all! Maybe is better register i dont know 😝 i will see...! If no register etc only dji and Some radars can see is somthing in the air?? Or if you crash some property or car... Or some neighbor get angry! Police here is Basic,maybe dont know the drone laws too... Its a risc, but.... I think the only thing ruining this hobby are thumbnails on videos that have people with their mouths wide open. Maybe that's just a pet peeve of mine, like added closed captions on shorts, or an overblown bro vibe reaction to a dive.

How can the FAA regulate something they did in Canada. We dont have regulations on sub 250g drones. Our regulations are from Transport Canada not the FAA. We can fly over people, cars, no height or VLOS restrictions. Only Class F airspace and restricted notams are the only place we cant fly. Section 901 of CARs just stats use good judgement. Which is the only must we must follow as sub 250g flyers.

I think the FAA giving you guys regulations to follow gives the hobby more relevance and an official niche for guys who are more professional in their conduct.
Question, since you have a lot of this thought through, what are thoughts chasing animals like birds or lets say deer, for example i have a couple vids focusing chasing birds. I never hit them and also consider myself ready to move out of the way if they come at me. Considering we factory farm animals and have pets, and hunt, i dont consider documenting animals reckless though i always see people telling me not to.
I think it might stress animals out and I don’t think factory farming is good, but I’m not gonna leave a comment on your video telling you what to do.
I dont think its thatmuch worse than scaring them away normaly maybe a little more stress. (Aslong as you dont chase them for long periods of time / get too close). I think other land animals care alot more since they prob can hear better?
