Fellmandave, just had some poles snap on his Vern 2 and Rowan Wild Camps had a pole snap on his Vern 1. Thinking that my 10.25mm DAC change was now a good call.
I have one of these tents but not had the chance to get out in it, but there have been a few videos on here showing the poles snapping and bending in winds about 40mph so its a bit of a concern
@@BrokenVikingOutdoors I have heard the DAC's make the best poles and have been thinking of getting some myself but it all costs again but I suppose they are worth it in the long run as the tent is great, thank you for the information as I was not sure who to contact and will look into it. Cheers from Wales 👍
I followed Nortent's advice about double polling so purchased another set of original poles. I trust if Nortent is going to ammend the poles in the near future existing customers are going to receive a replacement pair from the first batch. It's almost akin to a product recall.
@@smellyoldsock1553 after seeing what owner have shown on here 2 days ago I looked in the booklet that came with tent and it mentions about using double poles so that’s the way to go if out in windy conditions, also many of the real expensive well known brands do advise on doubling up poles so this is the norm unless we use the thicker expensive poles.
In a couple of frames it does look like the shorter center pole is going under then over, but it's just the angle, as I did start with the center pole first, passing the longer two pole over the top.
Hey Gaz , you are bang on with the accent .My accent is pretty messed up. Originally from England. Irish Dad, scouser mum. Spent a lot of my school hols in Northern Ireland. Parents sent me there, as I was probably a little shit. 🤣🤣 You a veteran too?
It was ridiculous. I found out that hundreds of planes had been diverted due to the snowstorm, then they all decided to fly overhead all hours of the morning and night.
Are you nuts? The tent are surely made for this. What will not however is if some noob pitch the tent on a storm where winds are 70 mph, wich no professional would ever do, and if so the pros would carry double poles like you also can put on a Hilleberg tent. lol. Some comments lol
Thanks for the mention - very good of you. I'm looking forward to testing one too when I can get my hands on one! ATB pal

I have a Cabela's Alaskan Guide 4 person tent, indestructible. Nice video!
They are strong looking tents. Can you use them with a woodstove?

Looks a great location mate 👌
I do miss the moors of England though. Thanks for watching.

I changed my poles out to 10.25mm DAC's. Check out Fellmandave. He is in direct contact with Nortent regarding this.

Is that the right way to position the smallest pole (over and under the long poles?)
The 2 longer poles go over the shorter pole.
Pheww. Had me worried for a aecond, that I'd messed up 😮😅. @Dartmoor_

@@BrokenVikingOutdoorsthe longer poles get supported by the shorter ones, I have noticed some RUclipsrs do it the other way

What is price range of these tents?
$531 USD Vern 1, $671 USD Vern 2.

Under quite a flightline there.

This tent will definitely break in high winds, doesn't seem to be made for this. As I wrote before, this tent is a dangerous product
Not sure why you are telling me this, but thanks for being concerned for my safety. 😊

@DanielOutdoors Hopefully you could see my sarcasm in reply to the previous comment. 'Dangerous" . 🤣🤣
These Vern tents have been snapping pole in winds above 40! They could be real dangerous if used improperly ….they are not a mountaineering tent….
I was more impressed with your sleeping system tbh 😮 but the tent definitely looks solid tho! I’d trust it in a storm😊
