I live in West Michigan. I was late to work the last 2 days by 10 minutes because of this. We call it Winter. Pay attention when you drive, slow down and relax.
Its literally december. We normally get our first snow before holloween. We didnt get any untill thanksgiving night, and it was 5 feet of snow in 2.5 days. The ground isnt frozen, its not cold. Its heavy wet snow thats turning to ice when it drops. Only to go back to 40 for 2 days with rain. To feeeze again at night... Without the ground being hard. Flooding roads all over. A sherrif got smashed on 81. Adam's and governour (south of watertown) are getting smashed @7sonero7
Build the new billion dollar football stadium right in the snowbelt... meanwhile they don't have enough road crews to plow my neighborhood street all day. Still waiting....
As a rule, if there is a 20-car pileup, at least half of them were driving too fast for the conditions, meaning they were unable to see and stop in time.

Someone please explain how that crash happened? In inclement weather you're supposed to slow down. Having lived in Georgia, when it rained, those Southern GOOFS drove faster as opposed to slowing down.

I've been driving FORTY yrs and many of those yrs were before we had CDLs. I had Class A, airbrakes, tanker and hazmat. I didn't have to take the skills test either because I was grandfathered in, just the written test. No accidents ever, no tickets except one in personal vehicle and NO truck driving school. Many of my coworkers that are older and most of the older are our very best and didn't go to truck driving school. Requirement for CDL has nothing to do if it's a box truck it's gross vehicle weight. The few drivers we have that are driving school graduates can't drive a standard because the school trucks were automatics.

That’s what happens when you cut funding and lower fuel tax. Everybody wants to conserve their money, no matter who gets hurt sad. My heart goes out to all those travelers. We will have it worse next year as Trump and Musk cut Federal DOT spending and taxes. I grew up in North Dakota and I’m from Minnesota. Sometimes it pays to invest in your infrastructure and have strategic planning for times like this emergency vehicles shouldn’t even be on the road the live DOT map should have everything red and not allow vehicles on interstate travel.

Standard protocol to park large fire engine IN THE WAY so that other drivers will move around it, as required by law, or smash into it rather than the guys working to extricate injured people from the vehicles in the collision in front of them. I have personally stopped four lanes of interstate traffic with a fire engine until others arrived to CAREFULLY restart traffic through or around the scene.

Box truck drivers dont go to a CDL school. Be careful driving around them

If the box truck is over 10,000 lbs GVWR many states require CDL when it's used for commercial purposes.
