    Ma’am what will be the formula for the overall total alkalinity….Means you have suggested to make separate table so the values will also come separately….Then what about total alkalinity

      You can do summation of methyl orang alkalinity and phenolphthalein alkalinity.
      Or
      Formula
      Total alkalinity =(A*B) * N of acid* 50 * 1000/ ml of water used.
      When A & B (Burette reading) is ml of acid used for methyl orange alkalinity and phenolphthalein alkalinity resp.

    I got a water sample with 7.2 pH. Then after an addition of POP the solution remained colorless, is there a need to continue with MO?

    Lab safety protocols should be followed. You are sucking the sample through mouth.

    mam can you tell me why we multiply it by 50

    • @dr.monikasujitchavan8039
      @dr.monikasujitchavan8039  10 месяцев назад

      Because here we are calculating acidity, alkalinity (quality parameters) in equivalent to CaCO3. So multiply with 50(equivalent wt. Of CaCO3.)

    • @dr.monikasujitchavan8039
      @dr.monikasujitchavan8039  2 года назад +2

      Water become acidic due to acidic gases, acidic salt, acidic industrial waste.
      Alkaline industrial waste, alkaline salt present in water causes alkalinity to water.

    • @dr.monikasujitchavan8039
      @dr.monikasujitchavan8039  Год назад

      Here alkalinity is determine equivalent to CaCO3 therefore 50 (equivalent wt = 50) .
      Also it is calculated per liter so 1000
