Oh my god, this has made my day. This brings back so many memories of when I worked in the Matchbox factory 🏭 in Rochford England from 1982 to 1988. What a wonderful place to visit and I wish I know where it was. I first started in the diecast foundry and then into the plastics department where I stayed until made redundant in 1988 because everything was being transferred to China.

Paul, do you have any snapshots of your tenure in that factory or was that prohibited?

@Adolfo Arauz I'm so sorry. I wish I did have photos of the factory 🏭 . You would not recognise it now or even know that a factory was ever there. It is now a housing estate.

You should! It’s open once a year in the summer. Other than that it’s by appointment only. I’m thinking I’m going to interview the owner soon.

This place is located in New Jersey. It's the world's largest Matchbox toy car collection. It's a warehouse that features all of Paul Restorer's finished work. I started seeing his educational videos in late 2018 and early 2019. 😳

As a child, now 50 years ago, I had a nice collection of Matchbox cars. But there is one that I always remember first. I think it was a king size. A big black American car. At the front you could fire a missile and at the back the trunk popped open and you could launch a screw-like disc.
Maybe you know about such a model. I'm not sure it was a Matchbox though.
It would be nice to have pictures. I am in the process of modeling this car in Blender.

@@timjones-jq4yr Just found what brand this car is based on "1965 Chrysler Imperial". Just what I need. I'm doing some 3D car modeling in Blender.

Nice video. I would like to see an extended version panning across every panel and display slowly. Also an interview with Everett discussing some of his rarest pieces.

Looking at all these immaculate matchbox cars on display reminds me when I was a kid in the late 70s, early 80s, going into Woolworths in England to buy another matchbox car to add to my collection. I just wish I looked after them better, keeping the cardboard packaging as well, rather then scratching them or painting over them with a gold or silver touch pen or paintbrush. The matchbox factory was close to where I use to live, and it was sad when I saw the factory, derelict with broken windows, after matchbox declared bankruptcy. The economic climate back then in England was dire, and matchbox couldn’t make them cheap enough anymore. Although, Oxford Die-cast in England makes quality die-cast matchbox toy cars, but in limited production runs.

Is there anything for sale? They should sell some Matchbox cars there too. Otherwise I understand you're looking at old and very hard to find Matchbox diecast cars and I like that idea. If you go there so many times there's nothing else to do but admire lots of Matchbox diecast cars.

When I was there the owner was selling a few pieces. This is his collection. I doubt he would sell a lot of them.

I was a MBX and GI Joe kid. MBX we’re great because you could put it in your pocket and take it with you and not have to worry about losing weapons or small pieces.

The majority of these seem to be from when Matchbox became American owned , from about 1983, rather than the Lesney products made in the UK.

I have been there and there is a lot of Lesney. Perhaps the quick panning of the camera doesn't show it.

The music was annoying, so I only watch six seconds switched at bloody music off
