I just bought a 5020 to compliment my 2230 and 6300 with no intention of actually playing tapes on a regular basis. However, I got one tape down at the thrift store. It's a Dave Brubeck tape and I was shocked at how good the tape deck sounds. The turntable does sound a bit better but the tape deck sounds surprisingly good. Even my wife who was baffled by my purchase of a tape deck commented on how great it sounded. Now I have a bunch of jazz tapes on their way.
Very nice decks. I own a 5220. The thing I noticed about your decks is that the 5020 seems to be running a bit faster than the 5220. I noticed this when you switched back and fourth between the Cyndi Lauper song "Time after time" . It was pretty obvious.Or it could be that the 5220 is running a little slow. Anyway, I also like the look of the 5220 more too. I just gotta find a wood case for mine....
Very interesting. As you proved here, I've read elsewhere that the 5020 is recognized usually as the better sounding of the two. Just got me a 5020 (this is what came up, I would have taken any of them) and cleaning it up and changing rubbers. Great, beautiful deck.
I just wondered about this interesting feed mechanism. I have never owned this style. Do you find it is more difficult to clean the heads than in the standard front load cassette decks? I know this is an older video but I could not resist asking. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more of your videos. I hope you don't mind but I just have to say one more thing .... Bouta, ga naar huis!
Hello! Please tell me how is the sound of metal tapes. As I know is not possible to record metal tapes with this type of decks, right? Please corect me if I'm wrong. I want to buy a 5020 or 5220 for my marantz 1122DC amp, what is the real price? Best regards!
