Lord have mercy, I sure miss the original AM After Midnight! It got me many 100's of thousand miles down the road! I would go as far to say it was single handedly the main reason I ended up being a night driver... The miles just seemed to click on by and before I knew it, it was time for an 8 hour break!

Chris Hadfield may have had a US call while working with NASA, but his current call is VA3OOG.
He as others can hold a British as well as American call at the same. I know several Brits who hold both.

Sen. Barry Goldwater was a ham radio operator. My dad talked to him.
I talked with him often while he was in DC and in AZ. My call is WB5YTA. My first conversation was when I lived in Lubbock, TX and we talked for almost 30 minutes. I had a TH6DXX antenna at 70’ on top of the Rohn 25 Tower and was using a Kenwood TS520. Additionally, I talked with him on 40 Meters one night off a dipole that I threw up into the trees while in Bell county, at West Fort Hood or Grey Base. Only talked for about five minutes when someone decided they wanted to butt in instead of waiting. He called me on the phone afterward and we were not interrupted! I saw him at an air show in Tucson and we visited for about an hour during lunch.

No, she was an engineer but never held a ham license to the best of my knowledge.
That's a pretty short list. I think you left out about 500 others who have gone on to do great things.
I thought I read where Country singer Loretta Lynn was also licensed at one time, along with Patty Loveless and a number of other Country Stars !

I often wondered if they used VHF/UHF Ham bands, to escape the clutter on 11 meter Citizens Band, while touring convoy style with othe artists ?

But hearing some of the other's named, seemed the only logical explanation was using it between vehicle's ?
Although I've never heard any stories of Hams working any celebrities as they mobiled around, but there might be some ?
My guess, they likely used some unorthodox frequencies while putt'n around the Country !

I'm looking in to ham radio but for beginners. amateur radio, I see Tim, Marlon, presley. That's pretty cool.
Same here. No internet, no cell, etc. is a good motivator. Entry level hand held units here in Canada for 60$. Then licensing.
Did Mel Blanc ever do ham radio? I know he started on commercial radio and he had a huge presence on the Southern California CB radio scene. Sometimes using one of his voices like Bugs or Daffy.

If Priscilla Presley is a ham, the call NY6NOS can’t be valid. The FCC does not issue 2x3 calls that start with N, only 2x3 calls starting with K or W are being used.

I've always thought the Ham Radio hobby could overlap with an amateur effort at S.E.T.I. (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). Ham's are great at salvaging things like parabolic dish antenna 📡 for listening in on the stars!

Virtually all of the celeb hams are totally inactive and have never done anything with it. The few active hams you list are famous among the ham community but not real hams. Only Joe Walsh is actually a bit of a celeb and fairly active. The reality is, and we should admit it and not lie to ourselves, no one really cares about ham radio and celebs can't be bothered with it
The fact you commented on this video shows you at least care about ham radio and celebrities.
I absolutely care about the hobby, but if we put our heads in the sand and think that the public knows about us or gives a damn about our little nitch hobby then the legislatures, whom the public votes for, will simply do away with us and the minor pain in the ass we are for them. Admit that we are unknown and do something about it or we will no longer exist. Our entire hobby could be eliminated with the stroke of a pin by people put in power by the public that doesn't know or care about us.
And how many are on-the-air besides Bob Heil? ZERO!!!
