I had not heard this gentleman before. He expresses a sentiment I've tried to share most of my life. How nice to hear it communicated so eloquently.

long lost father? A friend? A guide/mentor/leader/peon/boyfriend/husband/apprentice/etc.? Who are the stakeholders here, and what does everyone want from me, exactly? Everyone seems to place so much emphasis on whether I become an artist, an engineer, a musician, a journalist/statesman, or whatever, when the truth is I'd be happy just being a part of the process anywhere. The only thing I like more than talking is just getting to know people and listening to them talk about anything. I'd be

    "Balance"
Wow - I have a degree in neurosci but never thought of balance as a "sense" - it definitely fits the bill though! My mind is blown! O_O Can't believe I missed thinking about it like that! I guess I've always clumped it in with acoustical sense.

@rODIUMuk In his other talks he did. I think it went along the lines of "creativity is the manifestation of ideas that have value", or something along those lines. For more on it, check out his talks on "Do Schools Kill Creativity" and "Changing Education Paradigms"

@Pantiesboo Stardadized tests would be a fine thing, provided there are standardized students. The problem is that students are expected to measure up to a standard rather than helped to find their true abilities. For those who cannot the best they can hope for is a diagnosis of some description. Dyslexia, ADHD, etc. Children are not standard units. They are unique and should be treated as such...

@hannaremnant The IB? Just started that....it's painful, but it depends on how oyu approach it; and it IS meant to be very demanding, by the end of it you have a huge foundation for everything.

@liv4themoments @rODIUMuk Actually, he says that "creativity is the process of having original ideas that have value." He also calls it "applied imagination" in another instance.
He gives a more thorough explanation in this video (copy and paste this into the RUclips search box): "Sir Ken Robinson: Collaboration in the 21st Century"

It's weird how people keep wanting to "get to know me" or figure out what the right things to say to me are, and I'm just like, "well, who are you, and what are the right things to say to you? I'm not a mind-reader any more than you. Tell me about yourself and what you want and I'll tell you about myself and what I want."

happy at any level of the above fields doing anything, as long as I'm around people who enjoy what they do and have no problem with sharing their stories (not unlike in these kinds of interviews), because they like who they are and like what they do. I've tried that before, and I got reamed for it because people didn't seem to like who they were or what they do, turned complaining about the world into a pastime, and my talk of such things seemed to irritate them. Resolution: Leave town.

And furthermore, who the hell was fired or had to close down shop on account of me? Who thinks I stole from them for work I actually did? What the hell is that all about? I did my job(s) to the letter for the money. Any opinions I voiced online or elsewhere may have been out of context, but everyone kept twisting my words to fit their agenda because they were incapable of asking or engaging in the above style of interview. So you tell me.

For Americans: "But what shocks is that we should so eagerly have adopted one of the very worst aspects of Prussian culture: an educational system deliberately designed to produce mediocre intellects, to hamstring the inner life, to deny students appreciable leadership skills, and to ensure docile and incomplete citizens in order to render the populace "manageable." John Taylor Gatto

"........and this cultural standardized testing, i think, is erm.......... depriving teachers of the essential freedom they need to do their job properly." ----- 9 minutes to 9 minutes, 10 seconds
Some teachers (or most), would prefer the simplicity of standardization as it helps do their job as they should, although creativity can be built on top of the subject to help the understanding of learning students and developing their lifelong learning potential. Good, constructive creativity.

... ... OK, +200 exp to trust, empathy and morale, level up. But why are you doing this? Why are any of you doing this? Why do you care what I do or whether or not I succeed? And what's behind all of this? What, does everyone expect me to fall in love with, get married to, and hang out with a bunch of strangers because I wrote some things and posted a few videos? What is any of that to you? What do you hope to gain, and what do all the people who presumably follow me hope to gain? What, a

The finger and the moon thing ... not original. Ken says all good things are good and all bad things are bad, and who can argue with that? Oh, and by the way, how do we measure creativity? What units are we using? You never tell us what creativity is. And if you can't tell us what creativity is, how on earth are you planning to encourage it? Sorry to say, but this is just gobbledegook.
