cashotpb love showing the take downs !! 🎣 my favorite part of fishing is fish hitting on the troll!! Gets me and my dog fired up!! Can’t wait for salmon fishing either! Tight lines bro!
Teaching the next generation about fishing and love of the outdoors is one of the most important things we can do! Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope to start hitting the bay again soon! Hope to see you on the water!
That’s fishing, keep it bud It will turn on before you know it your lucky to be on a boat most of us have to wait until the piers open up. Thanks for keeping it reel
David Ortiz yep that is the way it goes for sure.. we will be back out just as soon we can .. love those tasty halibut! Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it! Tight lines🎣
Nice catching! Looks like the chartreuse was the color to use. All our catches that weekend were on a chartreuse swing blade. Great video. Look forward to see you on the water. Happy Thursday!
Jason Oleson thanks glad you liked it! yeah that set up always seems to do well.. I usually use that or a chrome dodger and white hoochie.. hope to see you out there too! What boat are you in? Thanks for watching! Tight lines!🎣
No live bait yet. J&P bait on pier 47 has a Facebook page. They usually communicate through FB several days in advance when they will resume operations.
@@ReelLifeFisherman For sure. My brother and I manage the account. I need to get on that video creating mindset. I know I can do it since I do this for a living/graphics, etc. But i get super lazy to perform post-editing to my videos after fishing. Props to your right-hand man.
Good to see you back on the water and enjoying new tactics. Must admit to never tasting halibut but will do one day. Never seen those huge lures (enticers?) except on your videos. Without doubt fishing methods are sooo different in different countries. The only thing about fishing that I don't like.....is throwing them back ! Always get a buzz from the strike though. Stay safe bro.
Nomad it was nice to get back on the water and to catch a halibut this early is nice! They are probably my favorite fish to eat.. are you talking about the cut plugs? the lures I use for salmon trolling? Or the dodgers that give them more action and attraction in front? That’s what is awesome about fishing.. so many different ways to do it.. and figuring out new ones.. and you’re right I love the fish takedowns and the big pump of the rod.. and peeling out drag.. that is a rush every time! Thanks for watching and commenting and hope you guys stay safe as well.. tight lines!
Team Striper Aka Team Guarantee thanks! If I can make it out again soon .. I’ll give it a shot! Hopefully the halibut action picks up soon .. thanks for watching..
Family fish killer spasiba man! I’ve been watching your videos.. you guys have been putting that awesome new boat to some good use! I’m going to watch you latest sturgeon one here soon.. I have the notifications set when you post and try to watch when I get time.. you guys have been getting them! Hope you and your family stay safe and healthy through all this and we can go back to fishing as normal soon! Thanks again for watching.. tight lines bro! 🎣
Nice video brotha, I'm still on edge and waiting on fresh live anchovies, we are getting closer by the week, can't wait, can't wait, im dying to get out in the bay!
I know I love the live bait action! But trolling for them is way more exciting to me for some reason.. the big take downs get the adrenaline pumping! Thanks for watching bro
steve r yes a good friend of mine and I used to fish them together with a lot of success! 😉Still seem to work better than anything else I’ve tried.. even have tried the yozuris a few different times when I’ve had more people on the boat.. I’d run one out the back all day .. nothing.. the dodger hoochie combo is killer ! Thanks for watching.. I appreciate it
Thanks bro appreciate it! The fishing will just get better and better! And I don’t want a bunch of people giving me hate for saying where i launched .. but I launched at the same place I always do when I hit the bay.. 😉 check out last year’s halibut fishing videos.. thanks for watching... and hope you and your family stay safe and this will all be over soon! Tight lines!
Great vid and good effort with switching the presentation up. In fact , I tried trolling brads cut plug a few weeks ago too and thought I was the only one 😀
Cliff Ryan Fong did they work for you? I bet they will.. can’t wait to get back out there ! I will be drifting live bait but I usually troll too.. sometimes i swear it works better especially for catching keepers! Thanks for watching.. tight lines 🎣 !
Thanks for the info and inspiration! I am going out tomorrow, where did you launch? I will most likely go outside the gate to try some bottom fishing and then come in for halibut in the afternoon.
Awesome definitely glad to inspire you to get out on the water again.. I was having fishing withdrawals 🤣 !! Did you make it out? How did you do? Can’t wait till we can get back to some kind of normal and the fishing is wide open! Thanks for watching! Tight lines!🎣
@@ReelLifeFisherman We ended up with one keeper halibut, a few shakers. We tried for bottom fish early on at Point Bonita, no luck. It was soooo good to be back on the water!
Awesome! Glad you were able to get out! It does feel great to get back out fishing! And you scored a tasty halibut!! I tried striper trolling in the delta yesterday with the wife.. we only found shakers.. but was still a beautiful day! I’ll be hitting the bay agin this upcoming weekend..weather permitting..
Nice video and nice catch. Yea hopefully J&P will have live bait to sell (he has a FB page so you might be able to see when he opens up, hopefully in May. Halibut has been a grind lately, feels like the bite is still pretty soft. Hope it picks up soon. Nice work
Scott Oleson thanks glad you liked it! Yeah that is how it seems right now.. lots of guys not getting any or maybe 1 or 2 .. just glad to get back on the water and get a tasty halibut it’s probably my favorite fish to eat! Hope to get a new bait tank installed before they open up for live bait.. I will definitely check out his page thanks again for watching and commenting.. tight lines!
707mrlos i definitely go there for bait if I’m in that area to go striper or sturgeon fishing.. but in the sf bay when you’re after live bait your looking for anchovies off of one of 2 docks.. J&P bait on the San Francisco side.. Or K dock in Berkeley.. thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it.. tight lines bro 🎣
I went out on Tuesday at ARW and near Hunters Point- no luck. I even tried the Vienna sausage trick 😀-still no stripper or halibut. My wife caught a huge bat ray though. Love the videos.
Lol! I tried it later in the day let me down too! It works 80% of the time 100% of the time! 🤣😉 that’s awesome she got a big bat ray!! I keep telling my brother in law we should just go shark and ray fishing one day! Awesome fights! 🎣 glad you like the channel and thanks for watching.. tight lines!
Great to see our beautiful bay again, thanks for the footage! I use the same launch ramp but have not been out this year. Heard its been crowded...did you have to wait to launch? Any problems with the wash down area after recovering? Do you think the tides had something to do with the slow bite? Again, thanks for the well-crafted video!
aProudOG it was awesome to get back out there! I went on a Monday so not very many people were there.. and the tides were pretty big so I’m sure it played a part.. can’t wait to get back out there and bloody the deck with more butts!! Hopefully you and your family are all good through these crazy times.. and we can get back to some kind of normal soon..Thanks for watching bro! Tight lines!
Depends on where you are fishing ..and if you have a 2 pole stamp or not.. in the bay though it’s one rod per licensed fisherman.. even if you have the 2 pole stamp.. thanks for watching!
Hey buddy. Is that the penn squawk? What size is it? Looking for a good do it all bay reel. Not sure if I should go lever drag or star drag with level wind or non level wind. Also what size drag should I be looking at?
So mine is a squall 20LWC and the other one I’m using is a Shimano tekota 500HG LC I use line counters when I’m doing any trolling.. that way I know exactly how much line I have out ... but for heavyweight fishing like sharks or rays or sturgeon I would go with a PENN Fathom or some other brand of non level Wind reel in a lever drag preferably.. unless star drag is what you are just used to and want to stick with.. thanks for watching the video! Tight lines 🎣
DicksTaxidermy I have just been telling those that ask it’s the same place I always launch at in the bay.. Don’t want a bunch of hate from people either way.. a bunch of ramps closed during these crazy times..if you look in my halibut videos from last year they show it.. thanks for watching.. tight lines! And stay safe ! Hope fishing can go back to normal soon!
I get it....yep, my son filled me in. We are fans. Just purchased a new boat for this season. This will be my first year solo. We will keep in touch. May have some side work for you. I am setting up my electronics, and could possibly reach out for your expertise. Thanks Kirk
Awesome! Congratulations on the new boat! What did you get? Absolutely I’d love to fix it up or answer any questions about it you might have.. thanks again for watching the channel! I appreciate it!
22ft Northriver Seahawk. I put a Yamaha 250hp. It has the welded ridge top. I have installed a live bait tank, 6 Scotty rod holders, 2- 9 inch Garmin map 94, LEDS for lighting, extra power switches, aluminum floor with their older floor covering. Hope to do a lot of rock fishing. Halibut and Seabass will be on the hit list.
We went out Monday.. and l launched at the same place i always do when I go to the bay.. 😉 check out last year’s videos if you want to know for sure.. people will get pissed at me if I just put it out there for the world to see right now.. lol
And bye the way I know it might be a little far because I think you live in the Sacremento area but if you want to try for sturgeon again me and my dad went to Napa River this last Saturday and we got a 9 foot 3 inch sturgeon along with a 39 incher plus a few stripers. So if you do decide to go, for bait try Bodega tackle in Petaluma they sell ghost and grass shrimp I got my 9 footer on grass shrimp but both work fine and launch at cuttings wharf. And try up river if you launch at cuttings warf it takes about three minutes to get to the hole my dad and I always hit but there is a rock wall with a fence behind it with a yellow strap connected to a sunken little boat you can see at low tide try anchoring up there and if that doesn’t work try pier 13 down river. If you do decide to go please don’t say where you launched like this video because it’s one of my last spots because the corona virus and I don’t want it getting over fished
Thanks ! I would love to try it I would definitely keep it off the video.. especially with what’s going on right now.. it’s getting crazy.. there is nowhere to launch or fish hardly.. I’ve been staying put at home but I can’t take not fishing.. hope everything is going good for you and you and your family stay safe .. hopefully thing can go back to some kind of normal soon.. and we can open up all the ramps again.. thanks again.. tight lines🎣
New to your channel. I fished the Bay and outside the Gate recently, and will again, weather permitting, this week. Your videos have some great tips. I wanted to turn the volume down due to the background music, but then I would miss what you were saying. But now that music is burned in my brain. Ugh.
Thanks for the feedback I do appreciate it positive and constructive feedback.. audio and music is always a hard one to get just right.. but hope you like the channel.. not all the videos are the same.. lol thanks for watching!
