    This is the first time I've listened to something in greek since my Yiayia and papau passed away last year. This made me cry lots but it reminded me of when my yiayia would say the prayer for me, go give your Yiayia a hug if you can.

    Excellent episode!!! Thank you so much for these videos, truly. I am learning Greek at a super accelerated pace now that I watch some Easy Greek every day! I really appreciate you guys. As for the evil eye, I believe that we choose our thoughts and where we put our focus, which in turn creates our beliefs, then our actions, and thus our life experience. I agree with the happy Yiayia as well: when we stay positive and surround ourselves with our own good high energy, we are immune to any external nonsense. There is a lot of power in not caring what other humans think about us😊. Thanks again!!!!!

    I believe that evil eye is just a metaphor of envious people trying to sabotage you, or repetitive bad events happening to a person

    The first time I got the eye, I had never heard of it nor believed it when my Greek husband informed me I got it. He called his cousin who did a prayer. I didn't know what he or the cousin did but the persistent headache on my forehead area suddenly split into 2 halves, traveled from both side of my head to the back and disappeared. My husband reminded me how a woman was staring at me on the street earlier that day and I remembered her too because it was creepy. It's hard to deny the existence of this eye thing after that experience.

      I get it a lot from salty people at the supermarket I feel sometimes my energy drained, feeling of tiredness or even mild headaches. Then sometimes there is a bit of bad luck or sense of confusion. I try hard not to look at or ignore other people, but sometimes I catch a glimpse and boom there it is. The only remedy is for me to shower and sleep it off as it is near impossible for me to do anything for the rest of the day.

    This seems as good an explanation as any for the onslaught of a migraine. But can the evil eye cause greater misery? And if so, does the person casting the evil influence suffer any psychological repercussions?

    • @cubicle89
      @cubicle89 5 лет назад +1

      Since the evil eye is generally given unconsciously, I don't think so. But I suppose if there is malign intention behind the evil eye, it could be stronger. Then of course we'd be going into magic and curses, which is a whole different thing. Generally though, my take is that if you're giving the eye unconsciously, you don't suffer psychological repercussions yourself -- other than the "obvious" ones, i.e. from being an envious, perhaps resentful person.
