Hello, I’ve been there in March. As resorts I recommend Xanadu Makadi Bay or Sunrise Tucana Resort, from what we saw. Popular tours in Hurghada are the ones to Orange Bay, Eden Island, with snorkelling included. We skipped the tours at the pyramids as it was a 24h journey and Luxor kind of the same. Also the tours to see dolphins are also a scam most of the time because there are limited chances to actually see any dolphins.

The mistake to avoid is going to Hurghada
It depends on what kind of tourist you are and what you expect from a place. I would personally liked to see more of the raw life of the people.
