I figured you would call the "clicky clicky" a feature! 🤣 I've built a dozen instruments so far, don't consider myself a good player, but getting better slowly with the help of Del and a few others.
Your little pooch cleans up nicely and is too cute to be legal. You are probably correct about building and playing. A local guy would go to a festival and not sell many because he doesn't play. I took my little Vox to his tent to try one out and he sold 3 while I was there and not to me.
Man, I just learned from a younger brother I don’t build well cause I don’t play well. I asked my wife if I am a player she said “ you like to play” and then pointed out that my younger brother is a player.❤
Beautiful CBG. On the slipping string, I saw somewhere where a string guide, like old school nut, is added right behind ths zero fret and slight lower, with the required notches. No notches on zero fret so strings can slide around a bit. I guess that's one of the cons on zero frets, they wear out quicker.
Could you consider doing a tutorial on how to play songs using the more simple chord shapes for those (like me) who don't have the best fine motor skills? Like the one-finger-chords like one finger on the melody string, or a finger across all 3 strings for a power chord. And also the 'stacked' and 'staggered' shapes as well.
Saw a video of a builder today who said he doesn't play. I can see electronic types into making things for guitars but usually boutique builders are players.
Use to kind of play bass but it's been so long I've forggoten. I want to build one so I can learn to play it. Johnny Winter and Muddy are my favorites but so many seem adaptable
Your amazing man! And yes I totally agree with play what you build I'm not much a player but I do enjoy trying to play it. I've found a mistake in everyone of my builds but I keep on plugging away. Thanks for the video
I can pluck out a tune and I can build all thanks to you. I do have some excellent guitar players around, so I lean on them. I usually keep a build around for a week, tweaking it until I like it.
I don’t play but enjoy the build and creativity and attention to detail, over100 built with great responses from buyers/players, in fact my musician son says I could sell more at shows if I could play them
@@graysaw empty nester. If you wanna see my kiddos Google POEMA BAND !! both those girls are mine. they had a record deal before they had drivers licenses. true.
Hey Del, I'm one of those people who build and don't play. I can pluck a tune here and there and maybe a little strumming from time to time.I even bought an amp so I can test my electric work but mainly I just like the build. Occasionally someone who does.play will see work and pick up one of my CBGs and takes of with it. To watch them smile while they're playing puts a big grin on my face too. I get what you're saying but I learned from one of best to look for the problems and little mistakes. By the way that person was you bud and I can't think of a better teacher. I'm a good builder just never been able to play a lick. Thanks for some great ideas and keep on keeping on.
You’re right about building and not playing. I’m a woodworker (semi pro hobbyist) and got into building based on your and others vids. After my 3rd build I realized that just making them doesn’t mean it’s playable; if it doesn’t play well then there’s no point. I’ve tried to find someone local that can give my builds a test run but no luck. So at 64 I’m trying to learn some basic riffs. Your lesson vids are helpful in that regard.
Del - #407 - may be one of your best yet! All of your jam tunes were great, but could you do a lesson video on your first jam song and the tune you played after slowing down the beat box? Love those Blues Scale EBe turned guitars!
thank you! i got a copy right strike on that song . apparently the youtube algorithm identified it as someone else’s. i refuted it and now after a month i can upload it! i was pissed 😡
Ok, I am a builder because I am good at building, but I am not a player (although would love to be). What should I do wander off and live in a cave? LOL.
shop dogs are the best. I have one almost as cute as yours that is always by my side. BTW I made a order at CB GITTY and the code didn't work. I didn't get any money off but I hope you git your cut :)
I agree that you should know how to play to be a better builder. But, Leo Fender had no idea how to play the guitar let alone tune it. He was a saxophone player. So there are exceptions. But I still think you should know how to play if you are going to be a builder.
it certainly helps . i also know plenty of builders who can’t play a lick … i liken it to a cook or a chef who cannot taste, or a deaf composer, or perhaps a blind painter ?? personally i think any artist would like to appreciate their artistry for its intended purpose??? but i digress 😀
Why does the zero fret need notches? 🤔 If you put a capo on a guitar, in effect, you are moving the bridge and removing the notches. When you fret a string you remove the notch. What if you move the string retainers closer to the zero fret for more break angle. I don't play very much but spent my life as a field tech. In other words I would take what sales sold, engineering designed, manufacturing built, and make it do what the user wanted. 😆
PS: I play harmonica. A few years back we were camping in the boundary waters. Everyone around us had bear trouble. We didn't. Must have been my harmonica playing! 🐻
💕 my custom😎😎

I'll say it again... You are the absolute best CBG builder/player in the world!!! Keep it up.
awe shucks
Yes, and the best CBG video clip maker 👍🏻

Hi Del!! I'm not a player yet, but I will be by the time you get finished teaching me!!!
now that’s the right attitude!!!

really nice. Have you ever built a hubcap guitar? I have some perfect antique hubcaps I saved to make one for my son, but never have the time.

Del - one more question. Are you still seeing laminated wood tops in your Fuente boxes? I'm seeing more and more MDF here in the Midwest...
it’s always hit and miss …. there is no rhyme or reason
I build but don’t play but I know what sounds good
i bet you could play if you wanted
Del, you still selling those Just Tempered fret boards?

So you turn your soldering iron to 11 ? Did i here that correctly?

I must say that Leo Fender was a builder but he was not a player
Builders should be players? 🤔 What if I’m so terrible at both I can’t be considered either?🧐
blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth

the notches simply prevent string slippage… i’m a real bendy player
