Parenting is hard enough, but parenting while homeschooling 💀 wow I know that can be tough.

I can tell you are an amazing teacher (I am one as well) because you are finding different ways to teach the same thing to different kids. Because every kid learn differently! The teacher that have a class of 25 or 30, you cannot apply different methods (you don't have time). I was very happy to be a tutor for many years because I could teach each kids I had with different methods, methods that were easier for them to understand.
I felt all of this. As a homeschooling mom I felt this. You have to talk to your future self, and most definitely find the little joys in the midst of the good and hard days. Thanks for the transparency.

Being a mother of 4 and a wife is already a lot; the fact that you are not only willing to do the home school thing but also that you are finding ways to work through your challenges in teaching the children , and finding ways to engage them individually is really an amazing feat. This moved me deeply. I am a stay at home mom to a 3 year old, an 11 month old, and I’m 18 weeks pregnant with my third. Yvette, I can see it in your face and voice that it’s a heavy load. It’s the same in mine. But I also see your children’s eyes light up, I’m seeing joy and intelligence and curiosity in kids who feel loved. I’m not at the point of deciding to homeschool but it’s the same in motherhood - it is hard but it is so worth it and I see you are doing so well. SO much grace and flexibility required for these little people and ourselves as parents 😅 Thank you for sharing your journey with us ☺️

I’m still single and heading into my mid 20s but all this content is preparing me by giving me insight into the different challenges I can run into when I am ready to have a family of my own. We tried homeschooling during Covid. I loved that my boys were home together, but my oldest thrives in the classroom setting. His grades dropped and he wasn’t as interested during homeschool. It’s a very hard job!

Thank you! This is so insightful on the various ways of learning and a reminder to get out of the way to recognize the individual child's pace/flow. I would love to pick Yvette's brain on tips to build collaborative relationships with teachers focusing on curriculum. I want to home school and I do not see a way right now (i have 4 years to figure it out). Your family is my parenting guide and I appreciate every moment and word you share! Thank you, again.

I don't have children yet, but I want to be able to homeschool when I do. I follow a few people who do (not because they do) and they some of the same things - you can be as hands-on or hands-off as you want. And I could definitely see how trying to find the sweet spot could be difficult.
Love y’all! This was perfect! I really enjoy watching your content and am always taking note of things! When I do have children I don’t want to repeat the same cycle I grew up in so it’s refreshing to see a black family doing things differently. I also told myself a while ago that I want to homeschool my children when I have them but also want to operate my Massage Therapy practice at home as well so we’ll see! My partner says he’s all for it so in the mean time….just planning, taking notes, & getting all the knowledge that I can possibly get for myself and my future family🙏🏽

I have 3 children. 16, 12, and. 9. They have one on one. I give each certain days. When they aren’t on one on one I give them projects to learn independently.

Thank you so much for your experience with homeschooling. I am prefer to go this route but coming from Caribbean culture, Haitian, my parents, my mother is giving me the third degree with my decision because ignorance is bliss. I know it will be challenging because I have 2 and 3 year old but I am😬 up to the challenge. Extra curricular will be their way to be learn social skills. TMI but again I am thankful for your truth. Thank you so much for keeping it REAL. MANY BLESSINGS. Your insight and experience definitely is helping me.

The reality is that this is what teachers struggle with every day with 5x as many students who aren't even their own children. Teaching is no easy task and our educators 1000% need more funding and better resources. Unfortunately they just do not have the capacity to apply an individualized approach to each students learning style. I love that ya'll have decided to take this on for your children. It will ultimately benefit them and their worldview. Critical thinking and problem solving is essentially non-existent these days.

Future Yvette, I’m sure you’re right… you’re learning with much more depth how each of your children think and operate. It’s funny to me how the same recipe can create four very different cakes. I love how unique each of them are. You guys are raising a beautiful family and have much to be proud of.

I really struggled with home school. I dont know what camr over me but it's like I could not be patient with my son. He needed so much it just wiped me out. I couldn't figure out how to be there for more than one kid when they are all in different grades. We got through it and I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I also use IXL. It grades and tests to help me know how and when to move to the next. I only hold myself to them learning new everyday.
