Thank you Sir, for your time and amazing videos. I have gained insight, inspiration from you. Now putting to good use. Looking forward to your next video, Good Day My Friend.
1 thing people over look and everyone would love would be a real pressure sensitive focus/zoom ring even if it's electronic instead of that fake ring company's attach cages to. Great video. I agree with just about all you said.
Now that is a great addition SL - the availability of manual focus is great but using it in video is a nightmare because of the shake it introduces. You idea would really increase shooting capability - excellent thought! hope you're doing well and have a great weekend:)
That's a good shout tm - I've had limited issues with overheating, but I'm conscious a lot of folks are in hotter climates than me! usually I find battery runs out before heat is a problem haha! What has your experience been? Grerat to hear form you and hope you have a great weekend!
So will Sony release a ZV2? I thought Sony was now pushing their ZV-E10 as their vlogging camera which I think missed the boat there. A ZV2 would be great to have though and only needs a couple things over the ZV1 to make it a true winner.
It's an interesting thought FWTB - in my mind the sensor size makes them slightly different markets - I'd see the ZV-1 / Zv-2 as the all in one pocket vlog option; the ZV-E10 is your entry level interchangeable lens option and therefore a slightly different market segment. W-NYC is right too - given chip shortages it's hard to predict exactly what the realistic focus is for Sony, but hopefully that normalises in the future. Thanks both and have an awesome weekend!
For wider range, use zv-e10. What can be sacrificed for 16mm? Make it or 16-35. And no zoom to 70. Or make it darker, or make it heavier, or bigger. So it pushes us to zv-e10 again. Thread for accesories? And then deal with warranty then heavy accessory breaks mechanics. So for this tiny size can only expect USB-C, faster CPU with better focus, newer menu with better touchscreen. And for embedded optics i would not expect miracle. Narrow for blog lens, sorted by good selfie stick, need to be responsive on control buttons. And battery can be sorted by external grep. Dont know why grep from 3rd party not released yet.
really ironic how the lens of a "vlogging" camera is not THAT wide like smaller people like me or in southeast asia with short arms struggles with it. i almost bought it but when i tried it in store, it's frustrating that you have to really extend your arm and feel uncomfortable for a few minutes. adding "add-ons" is kinda meh since it is supposed to be a point and shoot camera for a video diary or vloggers
That's great to hear Sandeep, it really is a powerful camera in a portable package and has so many capabilities once you get used to it:) Consider subbing if you like the content and have a super weekend!
@@dbvares8745 oh i am already your subscriber. You and film alliance are the biggest reasons why I got the ZV1 thank you and have a great weekend practising Guitar
Love my ZV1 but agree with all your thoughts on what I would like to see improved on the ZV2. I like catalyst browse but it has definitely upped the time I spend editing as I am converting so many of my clips I kind of can't live without it it makes hand held shots almost gimbal like. The battery life does my head in tbh and I only shoot 1080p I get nowhere near your times I would say I'm lucky to get 30 minutes! I use the Ulanzi selfie stick but as my channel is football vlogging sometimes I run into problems rocking up at the turnstiles to be frisked with a camera on a selfie stick as you can imagine🤣 Great channel liked and subbed 🙂
They need to fix the noise that the zoom makes when you zoom in or out. It needs a brighter monitor for outside, you can't see anything in bright sunlight.
These are both great points MWC, the zoom in general could definitely be smoother - both for noise and how the variable aperture is managed too. One 'advantage' of the UK is it's rarely so sunny the monitor is hard to see, but it still needs improvement haha:)
Hello DB! Maybe my question reaches you: Is there a considerable difference between NTSC or PAL mode? Isn't it all digital and far away from old TV-normes? What would happen if I choose to change from PAL to NTSC? Best regards!
Nice list but I also believe having a faster sensor read out would be much better as well, panning when filming looks awful. After about 2 years of use my Sony ZV-1 no longer allows face and eye detect. reset the entire camera and looked at every setting but it simply no longer works.
the sensor readout is faster than even many sony fullrame. make sure product showcase is off that can interrupt with face detect based on my experience, also the face should be bright and clear

It might sound stupid, but I'd not mind a tiny bit bigger size. Really just a wee bit. It's so compact now my hands get cramped sometimes holding the camera. Ah, and I almost forgot.... USB C. C'mon it's 2022.... ;)
Doesn't sound stupid at all Zotmund, I totally agree and would be more than happy with that kind of change. I doubt we get a ZV-2 this year though - I'd guess 2024 is more likely but I could easily be wrong:) Take care and have a great weekend!
Hey Dave, great video as always. I think Sony could introduce a ZV-2 with all of these improvements for an increased price. At the same time, introduce a ZV-1 I at a similar price to the old model and cripple it to give consumers a lower priced alternative. I can’t see them selling all their goodies at what was an insanely low price for the original
Hey Martin, always awesome to hear from you mate:) I think you're right about market segmenetation. I'd say if they made a zv-2 in say 2 years and had that at £850 while the ZV-1 stuck around at maybe £550 that could be a really strong offering. I'm probably being ambitious though given the way inflation is headed - maybe £2,000 to match my monthly energy bills in 2024 haha:) Hope you're doing well mate and have a great weekend!
@@dbvares8745 Ah, who needs energy anyway! :) If it was me I’d improve the ZV1 ii with the new touchscreen, maybe a slightly better processor to improve the crop, but I’d keep the 24mm. In the ZV2 I’d put in a 16-75, a new sensor and processor, 4K 60fps, no crop (or a super 35) in 4K and charge twice as much!
Dynamic range. If only it were a lower resolution, higher DR (say, 12 mpix / 12 f-stop) sensor, it would absolutely kill the competition and remove any doubts re: keeping up with the smartphones. So in descending order of priority, I’d say: 1. Higher DR, even at cost of lower resolution 2. 10 bit output 3. HEVC 4. S-Cinetone 5. USB Type-C
so far the only problem with zv1 ive had is battery. but i dont wish for bigger battery if thats gonna make the camera bigger, i could just buy extra batteries. my wish list for zv2 is bigger sensor and wider aperture. apsc with f1.4 still bsi stacked so no rolling shutter. or they can still give the 1 inch sensor with f1.4 with extra zoom to 200m. but regardless im unlikely to buy any new zv, id rather go full frame. unless they can make zv2 with full frame lmao. i use my zv1 mostly low light, for daylight vlogs i use dji pocket or action camera, best stabilization and fun to use. so therefore i need any new camera to be great for low light. and that means bigger sensor or bigger aperture.
I doubt Sony would make a zv2. Zv1 was a plastic version of their rx100 series, and zve10 was a plastic version of the a6100 series. So I’m not sure Sony would add such good features for less money than they make on the rx100 or a6100 series. Maybe if they stick to the plastic they could. But with “chip shortage”, it’s very unlikely for them to make new affordable camera. Even if they did it would be way later, and a lot more expensive that people would just stick to zv1 and adapter. Good video.
Hey TS, great to hear from you and very insightful thoughts as always! Agree on pretty much all of it - I can imagine in 2-3 years things might evolve, but I'd be amazed at a ZV-2 any sooner than that unless it was position more expensive and more feature rich, but who knows for sure? Those would be powerful additions IMA; I think the 4k60 will only happen if Sony can make much more powerful and efficient chips given the likely heat generation (like how smartphones can do those framerates but many cameras can't).
