- Well, I know many of you have already suggested me to record without the front board of the piano, but I have been procrastinating in doing so.
Despite being warned many many times by my technicians that the board is too heavy for me to take down, I decided to give it a shot.
They were right, it was such a struggle to do it on my own (to the extent that I thought I was practicing weight lifting). But I guess the result is worthy after all!
And I finally found a way to secure my tablet on the bare body of the piano. (yay!)
As you can see, there is no multi angles, no overlaid clips. This is a very raw and authentic video showcasing the set-up of recording an upright piano.
I hope it is helpful for anyone that is interested. :D

P.S.
I finally managed to watch Joe Hisaishi live in Singapore this month. It felt so surreal to see the maestro live, and I was greatly inspired by the Spirited Away Suite he played with SSO. I basically kept looping the suite for a few days.
"One Summer's Day" was actually the very first solo cover I uploaded on my channel, but I was using the Smart Pianist recording system back then.
The piece seems to serve as a milestone every single time, doesn't it?

經過超長時間的拖延，我終於嘗試把琴前板拆下來錄音了！
雖然拆裝的過程還需要練習，琴板也重到我幾度懷疑人生...
但是很開心錄音效果提升不少，YUS5的潛力讓我非常驚艷。
沒有任何雕琢後製的影片，呈現給大家最真實的樣貌，也希望大家跟我一樣喜歡錄音效果。
接下來也有計劃進行空間聲學處理，期待分享更美好的錄音給大家！

The sound recording really clear
One of the best version....I tried to practice with easy sheet before...But when I heard you played...I will try my best with the original... Someday I hope I will play this song by my own style, just like you...thank you for playing this legendary song....I'm your big fan from now. :D

Recording with the front panel off makes a huge difference. Those big Yamaha uprights can sound like a concert grand. That aspect aside, your tone quality and dynamic control are amazing, and this interpretation of yours is awesome! I love it! 👏👏👏

Oh you knew it, the real struggle was putting the panel back, it requires so much coordination 😂
@@XiaoTongPiano Yes, one of my students had an identical Yamaha, and she dropped something in, and I removed the panel to retrieve it. That's why I know how heavy they are 😊

I remember doing that to my old upright too, it's just a different feeling to have all the mechanisms on show

J'ai vraiment aussi apprécié ce "décor", l'arrivée et linstallation, le piano ouvert (merci de ne vous être pas blessée en retirant le panneau) mon seul petit reproche est un léger excès de lumière sur la partie medium haut du clavier, votre main se cache à nouveau!
