Greetings to the Upside-down and hello John 👋 Bubbles and Backscenes seem to go together like wagons and decoupling 😱 Station Road really is beginning to come together 😍 nice addition those pavement strips 👍 Your Scalescenes buildings really do look stunning 👏👏👏👏 Love those BP tankers 💚 I'm green ☘️ with jealousy 😪 Looking forward to watching those future video's 😎 Very best wishes from the Right Way Up 🌍
Hi Paul, lol yes bubbles and backscenes, wagons and decoupling my favourites! I must say I had a bit of luck with those BP tankers, just happened to be in the right place at the right time for once!! Thanks for watching and all the best from a land down under where women glow and men plunder.🇭🇲
Hello, John! You know, I don't even see the flaws on the background even when you point it out. The layout has come along by leaps and bounds, and it has so many brilliant facets already. You blended the 3D scenics excellently into the background 2D image. And just a brilliant presentation all around! Excellent work, John! Cheers and best wishes!
Thanks Anthony, I guess the backscene thing is just me, you can't see it on camera but when the lighting is down I can see it and for some reason it really bothers me! John
Hello William, funny you should say that, I did toy around with the idea of a roof over the whole station but gave up on it. Hmm maybe I should do it. John
@@wimbletrain there are lots of stations here with a retaining wall behind either by itself or as a result of an overall roof being removed. Check out sundridge park for the former or Folkestone harbour (not marine) for the latter. I would def. Not add a roof!
@@williamsworkshopuk Thanks William I had a look at photos of those places. It would be a shame to cover up the wall I made with a roof - it looks quite good the way it is, just need to add some more buildings behind it and maybe some shrubbery.
Hi John, just taking time out from making a new Innocent Tales of Piddle Folk to watch your update. I think I must have missed a few because the layout has come on. I never got on with Scale Scenes kits but you seem to mastered them. As for the coupling issue with Peco wagons it seems to depend on the model. I have 8 banana vans that just behave all the time but the China Clay ones behave perfectly for ages and then just uncouple for no reason. Farish ones are usually the worst I find, closely followed by Dapol' s British Gas coal wagons. It is what it is. Just keep changing the order until they stop uncoupling usually works. Good to see the trains running too !
Hi Mark, what makes it worse is that you can't swap the couplers out because the socket is part of the chassis, it would require a bit of surgery! Kind of good to know the experience you have had with different batches and brands, I just wish the manufacturers would move on and produce something more prototypical and reliable!! Regards John
@@wimbletrain Thanks very much for replying to my comment. That's the great part about the hobby sharing ideas and learning new ideas from other people to improve our Channel. Take care and stay safe DD.
Hi John, that dreaded uncoupling! I just tend to change them round until I find a rake that doesn’t uncouple. I’m mystified sometimes though that things can run round the layout for hours with no problems then all of sudden they uncouple???🤔 It usually happens when I start filming! I do have some Hunt Couplings that I’m hoping will help but just haven’t got round to changing them over. The layout as a whole though is starting to take shape and as always your Scalescenes buildings look great, you do have the knack. Cheers for now John, John
G'day John, I couldn't let this uncoupling thing go so I messed around with them and it seems to have improved. I did film what I did so it might come out in a video soon. Not saying I'm an expert or anything just tried something and it seems to have worked in this case.
Hi John! Argh! Backscenes! Those pavement strips look quite neat - did they stick down okay? I've not come across coupling problems in normal running yet, but then I've not done an awful lot of running! You're doing great with the Scalescenes kits - something I've looked at, but aren't really ready to start assembling... yet! They look quite tricky though, so kudos to you! Looking forward to seeing your next update! All the best, Ian.
Thanks Ian, haven't attempted to stick down the paving as yet. I got my new backscenes yesterday so more fun to be had there! 😄 As you can see I like the Scalescenes stuff but it is a fair bit of work and patience to get them right. I've done a little bit of messing around with the coupler issue and had alot of theories what might be wrong but whether any of these actually improve the situation is another thing!!
great update again thanks, and coming along nicely..... Think I am about 2 months behind you, which is great because you cover so many things I question.... The digikejs automatic turnout control using kato & peco is my favourite 🤣 sad eh? I was looking at back scenery last week as the baseboard is done now and had decided the ID backscenes premium was probably the best option.... as clearly you agree. 😘 Question which I am sure you have thought about... signalling? I don't see any yet. I would like 3 aspect, but kato only does 2 aspect and it does not work with DCC. Everything else I look at seems rather expensive... so looking forward to what your solution is. 😁 great videos, keep up the good work, it is appreciated!
Hi Tim, nothing wrong with liking the Digikeijs auto turnout control, it was a fun little project. Hmm signals, not really decided what to do there and as you said some of the options are quite expensive. Thanks for your comments Tim and good luck with the backscenes. John
Thanks Alex, if there's any particular electronics you want to see let me know and maybe I can do a video on it (no promises though, I only know what I know!). John
@@wimbletrain Thank you for the thought and offer. I think the mimic panel video you mention (and eventually any guidance on connecting the control to a PC - like the idea of having the trains running whilst go off for a beer 🍻!!!) are the kind of electronics I’ll struggle with but for your guidance. Your previous video on setting up a control/mimic panel was so helpful. Thanks again for the thought.
Looking really good..loving those curves on the viaducts..👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks very much, they turned out well, very happy with the result. All the best. John

Thankyou Phil
Really like the wall at the station! It looks like the remnants of an overall roof

Looking good John - thanks for the update, (I made the same mistake with a back scene), don't feel so bad now :) Cheers, Brian
Thanks Brian, yes, you really only have one shot at those backscenes!

The dreaded N uncoupling problem! Just when you think you've got it cracked it crops up again on other stock 😡
Hi Steve, yes, very annoying. I live in the hope that one day the manufacturers move on to using a different more reliable coupling system!
Brilliant
Thanks Daniel
