Sidekickjason let me tell you something my friend all those things the buildings minus the engines and couches and trucks all those buildings wow it will take a long time to rebuild from scratch I do however have some wallpaper of brick walls so the possibility might come interview You plus you have to set a general audience for your channel
I swear the simplicity of this video reminds me of those slideshows from a decade ago that show behind the scenes images saved from SiF. These are so crystal clear too.
Me too. I remember this old railway line that was abandoned and there was a couple of those trucks left in the siding. I always looked through the fence at them thinking they were the real troublesome trucks!!! Happy times.
I have to say this is a phenomenal resource : I've just gotten into making a Lego Sodor display and this is fantastic for checking details and proportions :D
Well they are making the show more for children so they aren’t having any dark stuff about engines being scrapped anymore, hasn’t been used since hero of the rails
Engine 87546 will it? It would be different if they were exact measurements but they aren’t you have to guesstimate most of them and some were much bigger then the measuring system they had. Plus a lot of items were missing out. Of course maybe I’m read and using the system wrong.
2:18 Wow, finally we get to see City of Truro from the front and behind. I knew City of Truro used Markin's smokebox which was later used as scrap set dressing but this is still really satisfying to see after all these years. EDIT: 8:57 While I was always a Take Along guy growing up I did the Grace Race set that Tomy made. I liked using the station and signal box that it came with, both of which I still have. I just grabbed the Tomy version of this station, the level of accuracy in the detail is amazing it feels weird. All the posters and even the way that the shadows line up behind the windows are spot on, Tomy must have been given a copy of this photo for reference.
I wish there were more pictures and videos of these beautiful models running I’m glad at least there later season models are being taken care of ,lovely video
The entire CG era to me was a massive missed opportunity. For example took measurements of Midlander on the Talyllyn Railway to make Rusty, yet the CG model was GIGANTIC compared to the actual locomotive, a carryover from limitations of the live action model needing to fit RC, motors, and eye mechanics inside. They also could have made Bill and Ben an actual realistic size.
I love seeing the Thomas fandom working together to create videos such as these. One thing that makes me sad is that there is no Toad the Brakevan to compliment Oliver.
There are some things you never notice watching the show. Like how oddly narrow Daisy looks head-on, or how almost everything has an edge on it somewhere that isn't quite straight
When I collected the toys as a kid I've always wished they've could of been the same highet as u see in the show But the toys were all the same highet If only they were more like this

Oliver, Edward, Daisy, Diesel, Bulgy, Clarabel, Troublesome Trucks, Chinese Dragon, Mavis were used in the Thomas Website’s Engine Depot back in 2005-2006.
2:19 why does City of Truro have a Marklin smoke box door. In real life City of Truro's smoke box door is styled like every british locomotives etc etc
In season 1, there was an engine named the marklin engine. It was used in season 1, for backround action. It has been seen in shots, pullling goods. However, in season 2 was worked on, there were more engines made, the marklin engine got useless. It eventually got cut up and was used for spare parts. The smokebox door was from marklin. Here is my theory, why he isnt a character: -he is a product from a australian/german model train brand, "märklin", and not a scratchbuild -the brand "märklin" could have sued britt allcroft for using their model on a tv screen. -he is a german BR80 0-6-0 Tank engine, telling this is from germany. Anyways, some parts were reused for engines like toby, percy, Bill, Ben, Mavis and many other engines. It was also seen like a scrapped engine from season 2-7. There are other videos that you can see about the marklin engine
These photos reveal some interesting details. At 2:18 we can see that City of Truro had a German smokebox door, probably a spare Marklin part. At 8:41 that's an unused interior of a mail coach. Shame they didn't use it, it's a nice set. Curious that the Maron and Crosby station buildings have photos, as neither location appeared in series 3. These photos appear to have been taken during production of the second half of series 3, as Thomas is missing his bunker lining at 0:15.
I heard that the Flying Scottsman was going to have a bigger role in the episode (much like in the source story) but his model was damaged and couldn’t be repaired in time for the shoot.
It would’ve been awesome if they kept them and put these in a building with the same island layout where you can control the engines and maybe their eyes too. I’d wanna go there every day!
Thanks for this, I could never get an idea of the scale they used. it's a shame that the series went away from models to CGI. It lost a lot of its charm.
Might use this to help me learn how to draw the engines (I won't use the Thomas one because I already know how to draw him quite well) Update: Donald and Douglas aren't present, oof, I'll have to use another source for them

It’s so weird seeing something as random and obscure as the old dilapidated tenders
its from the episode tender engines. you see them at the end.

When I first started watching Thomas and friends, I actually thought these were real trains and real locomotives that existed in reality.
Donny Dougherty Same here lol!
That's what given its charm and that what I like about the show and the engine seems so human-like feelings and personalities unlike the CGI version

What an absolute TEASE putting Gordon at the very end!

Why was it so hard for them to create Flying Scotsman?? Just use Gordon body and those 2 tenders
Do realize that there was a small budget back then
yes, use gordons body when he was gonna appear in the same episode as him, radical thinking
Also it's unlikley that they would have a duplicate Gordon to repaint as well he would have appeared with Gordon so they couldn't do it
I heard that the Flying Scottsman was going to have a bigger role in the episode (much like in the source story) but his model was damaged and couldn’t be repaired in time for the shoot.
@@EthanTheIdioticTankengine dude, there wasn't only 1 Gordon for shooting, they used like 5 replicas of him
