It was an honour meeting you Mac and I hope you enjoyed going sailing, definately a step towards marine biology :) Best wishes getting your speech grade overturned and well done for continuing to put your efforts into our system and not giving up despite of this.
This video broke my heart. I had a friend who had CP and it was hard for him because people would laugh and make fun of him. Kudos to you Mackenzie! I hope you reach your goals!
As a special education teacher and disability advocate I think it was very wrong to not accept your speech because it used the computerized speech. To me, you are doing splendidly. I am guessing by the date of this video that you are now in college or past it. You just keep rocking the boat by exceeding people's expectations.
Incomplete because it's not in her own voice?! Give me a break! It IS her voice! It probably took her 3 or 4 times as long to type it. Her marks cannot possibly reflect her intelligence & how much she has learned.
nice to know that someone finally gets being in a wheel chair like me i have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease so i can not move my legs , arms or hands i have to use a wheel chair with a head controller and my sister helps me too shes writing this
Those idiots who didn't give Mackenzie the credit for her speech should've been fired! Just getting up in front of her classmates takes an extraordinary amount of courage. Good on you, Mackenzie!
as a VOCA user myself, I am appauled that this girl was failed because she 'didnt use her own voice'. that machine is her voice. the teachers who failed her must be diciplined for this outrage. It makes me very angry indeed
Good for her that she does'nt give up, thumbs up from the Netherlands
Mackenzie, you truly are an inspiration...wishing you all the best in tucson, arizona
Go Mackenzie! Dont let anyone stop you. Your an inspiration girl :-)
How could they fail her for 'not using her voice'?????!!!!!! That is. Disgusting discrimination.
That's exactly what I about to type.
Queen Bee I know it's dispicable.
lovely bond with her sister.
very excited to see this, as it gives me hope for my daughter of 6, Angela, with Cerebral palsy

Truly inspiring and hats off to her hardwork!
Brave young lady it must be very hard for her to understand what she is trying to tell people who can talk 👄
It's such a sad story but she's still so strong! I would really help her if I could.

It's interesting to find out what she does with her life. It's also nice to see she can get out of her wheelchair occasionally. That must feel good.

This is stupid that the teachers said that she could not win an award for her speech because that is how she speaks
Thanks Harper, we kind of agree!

They failed her for using that device to talk? What's next, failing Deaf kids because they have an interpreter voice for them?
I are a beautiful girl and u have an amazing sister to. Even if she getz paid.
That's ridiculous, surely the school is aware she can't speak with her natural voice.
How is she driving the big chair at school?
Do this people know Stephen Hawking? Would you have failed him as well?
