Naw, keep the original Dreamcast scene in the remake. This altered scene ruins the consistency of Wesker's character development and new found powers throughout the series before RE4. Considering that this game is just 4 months after the first game, this would be the point where he really puts his powers to the test. The Dreamcast version highlights that even with his new powers he's still imperfect and inexperienced with his power; resulting his loss to Alexia as a wake up call for him to train and improve throughout the 6 year time gap between Code: Veronica and RE5. I'm sorry but Code Veronica X just ruins this scene by showing Wesker as always been overpowered since he got his powers in the first game. I always saw Code Veronica as the title where Chris and Wesker put their experience to the test despite what they've learned and been through in the first game. And to see that they are still combatant-flawed, they would both improve and build upon their weak areas from their Code Veronica encounter all the way to their RE5 encounter. As a kid I always thought X having more content than the Dreamcast appealed to me. But after playing RE5 and revisiting X to swap in place of the original dreamcast release, I've come to the realization that sometimes, less is better. The X alteration of this scene just ruins the feel of consistent buildup for Wesker and Chris's final climactic encounter in RE5. Having played the Dreamcast first, to see less of Wesker and being defeated by Alexia offered more mystery to when we see him next in RE5. They impact of seeing him go from weak to unstoppable just made his RE5 encounter more fearsome. But if you were to have played X first, he would've been seen as unstoppable and by the time you get to RE5, the impact of his encounter is less interesting. The reaction would have been "oh well, same as ever, he's still unstoppable, nothing interesting, nothing new"
1:43 I really like this small moment here, it's almost unnoticeable but it really goes to show the levels of hate in Chris and Wesker's rivalry. Wesker's whole motive was to get the T-Veronica virus, it was crucial to his plans, crucial to the plans of his benefactors. He went to all this trouble to build an attack force that could destroy Rockfort Island and release the T-Virus, then found out he was just wasting his time and had to go all the way to Antarctica anyway. Now, he finally has Alexia standing in front of him, and it turns out she's just as powerful as he is. This is a dangerous life-or-death battle for Wesker with all of his plans hinging on taking her down... but when he spots Chris he forgets all that, he immediately abandons the battle, turning away from Alexia and heading towards Chris instead. When Alexia hits him with fire, he's surprised, as if he literally forgot she was in the room for that moment.
Just as powerful as he is? i doubt that. Alexia displays much more power than Wesker. At least in this game and in this scene. Alexia was pretty unphased after wesker's best blown. meanwhile wesker got flown back by a mere slap, that he did recover from. In the dreamcast version, alexia actually kicked wesker's ass badly to the point of knocking him to the ground hard, twice, with effortless slaps, and we aren't sure which version is cannon but the common denominator in both versions is alexia bitch slapping wesker effortlessly and him being flown back. I can see why they changed it though, sacrificing wesker to make alexia and the v-virus look fucking unstoppable just for one game, is questionable idea as they were clearly hyping up wesker so to save face, both of them get to look powerful with alexia edging out in the ps2 version. i do like the dreamcast version because it displays how powerful and unique the V-virus is but i think this scene is cooler because it's a bit more even-ish and wesker gets to display more of his ever-growing superhuman abilities that he gets from the p-virus and his "you're coming with me line" as he then proceeds to matrix wall run, dodging blood fire and delivering a flying falcon punch is badass. wesker's p- virus was still in the early stages here so it makes sense alexia is more powerful though because he wouldn't be collection samples of a weaker virus.

Seeing this scene for the first time, I was kinda hoping that Chris and Wesker would team up to fight her then they could fight each other again once the first fight is over.
Two things from this scene: 1. Wesker meets his match, which is a huge surprise to him. 2. 1:48 Chris and Wesker's rivalry is so strong, that he temporarily forgets about Alexia to go after him. Truly EPIC.
1:08 Many say that that is a look of terror, but I see more of a look of adoration. It's not the only time in the games that we can see Wesker like this, but it is the only time we can see his eyes with that look of adoration of pure power. That's why I like that scene so much.
Based on how bad ass Weaker is in RE5, and that's BEFORE he takes Uroborous, he could've taken Alexia. If he punched hard enough to stagger her when she was transformed, if he had used his full speed and power, as well as his weapon skills, he could've taken her out. Now if he was post Uroborous Wesker... he would've WRECKED her.

This game was like one big wet dream payoff for those who had been playing it since 96. So much drama and colourful characters, so many twists and comebacks. It was nuts. It's nice to forget what RE became and remember being exited for where RE was going after playing this.

This Resident Evil was so good that it exhausted the original formula. You know, like where do you go from here? The music, the monsters, the mansions. All the M's of Resident Evil were perfected in this game. If that makes sense. You simply cannot best this Resident Evil at being a Resident Evil game. This is the ultimate Resident Evil game at its core.
If you like it, that’s absolutely fine, but I personally feel that this game and 0 ran the classic formula into the ground, in all honestly. The classic formula felt stretched way too thin with an inconsistent atmosphere that constantly whiplashed between action movie spectacle and survival horror, obnoxious amounts of backtracking even for classic Resident Evil, an infuriatingly stupid story that’s not even goofy or self aware enough to be enjoyable, the worst supporting character in video game history (Mr Sideburns), and dick headed difficulty. Zero has its own host of problems, mainly with its inventory system and the fact that it’s damn boring at times. This is coming from someone who’s fully completed RE 1-3 multiple times and greatly enjoyed all of them every single time.
Anything past RE4 is a big let down. This game is good and deserves higher praise and needs to be remade with the original scene where it shows what really happens to Wesker when he went against Alexia

Wesker in Code Veronica, Umbrella Chronicles, Lost in Nightmares and RE5 is base form Wesker. The only other time Wesker upgraded was at the volcano in RE5 when he bonded with Uroboros.

Wesker's virus gave him his full strength instantly, he was already moving as fast as he did in 5 in this game, the graphics are just less detailed. He simply held back because he didn't want to kill Alexia if he could avoid it as it's easier to study a live host's abilities. Chris fighting her for him would kill two birds with one stone, testing Alexia and killing Chris. He underestimated Chris as he always does.
Alexia's small, but vocal fanbase always likes to brag about Alexia was better than Wesker, but I think we're forgetting something. Chris only beat her because he had conventional weaponry. Wesker, took her on, someone who can make her blood combust into flames, effortlessly dodged them by doing a matrix run on the wall, and then proceeded to deck her in her smug face before exiting stage right. That's why Wesker's the main villain of the series and Alexia's just a memorable footnote, nothing more :)

It's sad that we'll never get a scene like this again in the series. Now all we have is shitty ass faceless whoever the fuck guy trying to rescue whoever the fuck and vampire milf busty fan-service lady that couldn't even wish to be as good as Wesker, Birkin, Alexia or Saddler ever were. This scene is probably one of the most epic of the entire series, you finally get to see what Alexia can do after having probably the best introductory scene ever, turning into pretty much the Ultimate Tyrant, that not even Wesker, your old arch-enemy from the first game who now has super strength, can take out, fighting him in a very sort-of "I'm just casually walking and throwing flammable blood at you" way. And all of that happening in a recreation of the mansion from the first game, and Wesker making a reference to his classic "Let me handle this" line after meeting with Chris again. Fucking brilliant.

I wish Lady Dimitrescu was the main villain of RE8... she was so misused it's frustrating. Alexia and Alcina are great characters but I absolutely *hate* how short lived they are, both are absolute powerhouses yet don't survive. Alexia at least left just as much of an impact on the series as Wesker but it makes me wish she somehow survived.

This game was like one big wet dream payoff for those who had been playing it since 96. So much drama and colourful characters, so many twists and comebacks. It was nuts.
It's nice to forget what RE became and remember being exited for where RE was going after playing this.

This Resident Evil was so good that it exhausted the original formula. You know, like where do you go from here? The music, the monsters, the mansions. All the M's of Resident Evil were perfected in this game. If that makes sense. You simply cannot best this Resident Evil at being a Resident Evil game. This is the ultimate Resident Evil game at its core.

If you like it, that’s absolutely fine, but I personally feel that this game and 0 ran the classic formula into the ground, in all honestly. The classic formula felt stretched way too thin with an inconsistent atmosphere that constantly whiplashed between action movie spectacle and survival horror, obnoxious amounts of backtracking even for classic Resident Evil, an infuriatingly stupid story that’s not even goofy or self aware enough to be enjoyable, the worst supporting character in video game history (Mr Sideburns), and dick headed difficulty. Zero has its own host of problems, mainly with its inventory system and the fact that it’s damn boring at times. This is coming from someone who’s fully completed RE 1-3 multiple times and greatly enjoyed all of them every single time.
Anything past RE4 is a big let down. This game is good and deserves higher praise and needs to be remade with the original scene where it shows what really happens to Wesker when he went against Alexia

The only other time Wesker upgraded was at the volcano in RE5 when he bonded with Uroboros.

Wesker's virus gave him his full strength instantly, he was already moving as fast as he did in 5 in this game, the graphics are just less detailed. He simply held back because he didn't want to kill Alexia if he could avoid it as it's easier to study a live host's abilities. Chris fighting her for him would kill two birds with one stone, testing Alexia and killing Chris. He underestimated Chris as he always does.

Alexia's small, but vocal fanbase always likes to brag about Alexia was better than Wesker, but I think we're forgetting something. Chris only beat her because he had conventional weaponry. Wesker, took her on, someone who can make her blood combust into flames, effortlessly dodged them by doing a matrix run on the wall, and then proceeded to deck her in her smug face before exiting stage right. That's why Wesker's the main villain of the series and Alexia's just a memorable footnote, nothing more :)

It's sad that we'll never get a scene like this again in the series. Now all we have is shitty ass faceless whoever the fuck guy trying to rescue whoever the fuck and vampire milf busty fan-service lady that couldn't even wish to be as good as Wesker, Birkin, Alexia or Saddler ever were.
This scene is probably one of the most epic of the entire series, you finally get to see what Alexia can do after having probably the best introductory scene ever, turning into pretty much the Ultimate Tyrant, that not even Wesker, your old arch-enemy from the first game who now has super strength, can take out, fighting him in a very sort-of "I'm just casually walking and throwing flammable blood at you" way. And all of that happening in a recreation of the mansion from the first game, and Wesker making a reference to his classic "Let me handle this" line after meeting with Chris again.

Alexia and Alcina are great characters but I absolutely *hate* how short lived they are, both are absolute powerhouses yet don't survive. Alexia at least left just as much of an impact on the series as Wesker but it makes me wish she somehow survived.
