I think a lot of us have experienced "The Overcompensator" at shows. Take up the all the backline space, and use 1/3 of the drum kit. He nailed it!

Remember Lar's kit when they were opening for Ozzy on their 2nd Puppets tour, then they split off and headlined Puppets themselves.
How big did that kit get? The giant toms behind him for Damage Inc. the 4 floor toms. the 6 or 8 rack toms, 2 or 3 snares, 4 bass drums .. so he could go double-double bass .. Plus, he used them all. Crazy fuck.
Then .. shit got real & Metallica ceased forever being a thrash band. «RIP Cliff» .. Now Lar's runs a loop if I'm not mistaken. He can't keep time anymore. Idk if he's deaf or has inner ear problems or just gets so plowed before a show that he's too drunk to care. Either way, today's Lar's kit should be a digital effects kit with him in a chair in the back with his vodka.

"Reaching for the Stars" reminds me of how drums are usually set-up on TV shows: it's obvious they were set-up by some grip who doesn't know how to set-up drums. Once on a TV show, I saw a kit with the floor tom sitting OVER THE HI-HAT PEDAL!
