Man, people really underestimate how hard it is to play Scott era drums. The endurance and sheer speed needed (especially for your right hand) is absolutely insane, especially when you're doing a whole setlist of songs like that. Especially considering that they played faster live, in about the 230 bpm range, nuts.

who cares? If anything this just shows how Travis would beat Scott in a drum-off, blindfolded and with one hand if he has too. Scott basically used one drum pattern with some slight variations for all of the songs. Travis changes it up not only between songs, but between different song segments as well.

I think that Scott Raynor was what early Blink needed. Fast, straightforward, no frills punk drumming that complimented the sound of the first two albums.
Travis Barker was the kind of drummer Blink needed to push the band forward in terms of musical ability and songwriting skill. His more varied styles fitted the experimental nature of the untitled and Neighborhoods albums and the Dogs Eating Dogs EP.
Raynor's style served the songs Barker's enhanced them.

Travis's drumming style is a more complex and hip hoppy which was perfect for the pop-punk sound.

Not trying to start that same ol' debate, but Dude Ranch is not their best album. Lyrically, musically and as an overall product, Blink 182 reflects their best work. You may say Dude Ranch is the best from their simplest, more "skate-punky" era, but come on, it gets beaten in every other aspect by the eponymously titled.

When I know it brings me down? I'm hating everything
    And you...
It's Christmas Eve and I've only wrapped two fuckin' presents, Christmas...
Push it out, fake a smile
    Avert disaster just in time
...fell in love with the girl in The Rock Show
She said "what?" and I told her that I didn't know
So here's your holiday, hope you...
...had that dream about you again, where I...
A memory that's full of fun, fucked up when it's all done
Mom and dad, they don't quite understand it
All the kids, they laugh as if they planned it
    Oh no, it happened again
    I saw you again
, I think you used me again
    Should we try...
Tears from eyes worn cold and sad
    ...Here I am, I'm try...
Never let you down, boy, never let you go
    Her subtle...
    La da-da-dah, da-da-da-dah
    ...ime that I'm worried
Coming in, coming in, kill the radio
    silence, breakd...
    If she falls apart...

This is one of my favorite videos ever. This gives you a look behind the percussion aspect in blink, and it's so much fun to hear all of the classics and in the order. It's also incredibly entertaining to each him play the drums

Blink had 2 amazing drummers, as awesome as Scott was, Travis's playing is INSTANTLY recognizable when you hear it, partly because of how his drums sound, but mostly because his beats and playing is so unique and creative. Amazing job man!

I was in 7th grade when enema of the state came out. It was the first CD that I ever owned and really got me into the wide spectrum of the “rock” genre. Still to this day I rock it and TOYPAJ. This video, from the music, to the skateboards and posters on the wall, really took me back. The nostalgia is real. Glad I stumbled across this. Great video man!!

mjamison77 If you are comparing him with Bonham, Peart & Moon, why are you even in this conversation? So Tre Cool doesn't play the same way as Barker? And why did you even bother putting Ringo Starr in there, now I know you're out of your head. Whatever..

    • @jamesdrumscoheedstuff6874
      @jamesdrumscoheedstuff6874 10 лет назад +1

literally the only drummers you can compare him to are punk rock drummers really, or similar styles, for me the only one that comes close to travis, and only cus he plays so well, is tre, if i was to go for drummers in general who break the mould a bit then for me one of the greats will always be the rev, but just my opinion
