I haven't been this taken away by a trailer in a long time. Netflix, please do this film justice and bring it to as many theaters as possible. Bernstein was an American treasure, and this has all the hallmarks of a masterpiece.
One of my fondest memories as a child was when I’d visit my great grandparents, Grandma would put on Leonard Bernstein’s Young People’s Concerts. It was a way for her to try and pass on her love of the arts - as if her grand piano and Grandpa’s clarinet didn’t say enough. But those concerts stuck with me. I remember sitting in music class, and being asked about the three parts which make up sonata form. I remembered it from those concerts.
Kazu Hiro did the make up? The guy who turned Charlize Theron into Megyn Kelly, Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill? Dang, looks like he might be getting a third Oscar
The makeup is wonderful, but I don't see the need for prosthetics here. Accepting make-believe is part of watching a biopic. If a fake nose is what makes you buy that an actor has "transformed" into a real person, maybe onscreen fiction isn't for you.
Sooooooo sooooo so excited. Bernstein (and Copland) really defined the sound of american music, his story is so much more interesting than people may think. Such a complicated man, im glad they are exploring his musicianship through the lense of his relationship with his wife. Bradley cooper really embodies Bernstein, cannot wait for this movie to bring more attention to such an important man.
To make this a romance-drama seems so accurate GOOOOODDD. Also the make-up is amazing, HIS VOICE AS OLD BERNSTEIN IS INSANE, the way he conducted is freaking the same, the analog feeling of it and the ratio, the score; every decision feels like the right one... i'm not ready for this
I thought Oppenheimer had it locked up but after this trailer I’m not so sure. If Cooper brings it in this film we might have a no country vs there will be blood situation.
Cillian Murphy, Leonardo DiCaprio (unless Killers of the Flower Moon underperforms) and Bradley Cooper are getting nominated (unless Maestro underperforms then no). The Venice Film Festival is going to be interesting
I am sure this will be Carrey Mulligan's Oscar. She is due for one now after all the great performances she has put in, in the past and the fact that she should have won for Promising Young Woman.
As a fan of classical music, Gustav Mahler, Leonard Bernstein and Bradley Cooper, I've been excited about this film ever since it was announced and they leaked the first images, hearing the Adagietto from the 5th symphony moved me, watching Bradley in that make up, Lenny was resurrected, it was already enough to convince me, one of the most important american musical educators, I'm looking forward to this.
His voice at the end of the trailer is pretty close to spot on. Well done. As a big Bernstein fan I was hesitant when I heard there was a biopic coming out but my fears have been assuaged.
I have waited and waited for someone to tell Bernstein's story--even a focused portion of it--for so long. I am so excited! Thank you, Bradley Cooper, and thank you, Netflix!!!
My Dad was friends with Lenny in grade school. He even participated in the famous "Carmen" show where Lenny played Carmen. Bernstien was a tremendously gifted musician and conductor and composer. I had the good fortune to see him conduct at the Hollywood Bowl. A fantastic night I will always remember especially the Beethoven! The sound was round.
This looks phenomenal, i know nothing about Bernstein, and haven’t watched Bradley Cooper much, but you can already see some fantastic direction here that feels so fresh and obviously harkening back to how older movies portrayed feeling through elaborate artistic shots. And the music, my god, the way Mahler works to just enhance this pure emotion and love. Only thing that bugs me is that its Netflix, but i assume like The Irishman they only funded it or release it. Netflix still is a dogshit company with a bad record so i hope they don’t tamper.
I find it interesting that you recognize Mahler without knowing about Bernstein. He's responsible for bringing Mahler's symphonies back into the public image. I'm excited for you to discover how great he was!
In tears just watching the trailer! I don't know anything about Bernstein, but WOW, this trailer gives a glimpse into true love, surpassing the human journey...I am looking forward to seeing this in theaters. Bradley Cooper, the actor disappears into Bernstein, which is true art. WOW, just WOW. Amazing...
This movie is an extraordinary work. Extraordinary. Bernstein was a real Amercian bodhisattva. Almost insanely extraverted, he was a vehicle for music. All the work he did explaining music to us, he let everyone in and was tireless in all the extraverted pursuits. But they energized him. There is a scene with Felicia where she tells him that nobody else can breathe and that he's hurling the music at us and makes it seem so effortless, we don't get a chance to come to it and real find our way through all the complexities and form and emotion and she's right. It's amazing work. Cooper is perfection.
Bradley Cooper is one of my favorite actors and after his success as an actor and director/writer in A Star Is Born with Lady Gaga, here with MAESTRO he will show that more than an actor he is also a great director and writer. And that he has big names like Scorsese and Spielberg as producers. Cooper will be a great candidate at the Oscars for best actor and with Carey Mulligan.
Gosh this looks so good. Not saying this was an easy movie to make, but this is one of the movies where the premise pretty much guarantees a successful result.
Bradley will win it all this year. Best Actor, best director , best cinematographer .Best everything there is. It's about time. They will win best make up too
I haven't got this old-school cinema feel about a movie in a long, long time. Kudos to the makeup department because Bradley Cooper looks exactly like Bernstein here. Also, very gallant of him to let Carey Mulligan have top billing even though it's his movie in every sense of the word. Can't wait!!!
Lenny was the beginning of many great things. In terms of Broadway musicals, we are still in the ‘Lenny’ Period and probably will always be. Just as once we entered the Romantic Era in classical music, we never left.
In the sexy standup shot in the hallway, Bernstein with one of his many male lovers the suit and backprofile and hair and hands that Bradley sported were so Bernstein brilliantly portrayed absolutely stunning.
Man, I wish if this could be released back in India also. I really wanted to catch this on theater myself. When I hear " I am thinking of a number", my god - it does sounds very close to Bernstein himself. Him, and Mahler - have saved my life many times. There is so much gratitude for these two gentlemen. Thank you Bradley, for bringing a film on such an enigmatic soul.
I'd like a prequel to this story. This is mostly a movie of a woman married to a man who prefers men. She tolerates it because he is a stunning musical talent. But way too much time is spent on his love interests, which include her, and her jealousy. I can find that around the corner on my block. Show me how Bernstein becomes Bernstein. His wife says he has hate in him that makes him THROW his music AT people. She wonders where the hate comes from. We wonder, too. We also wonder where the unending love came from. His choral pieces are mind blowing. I had no idea he did that. Cooper MUST win academy award for best actor.
We'll have to see the rest of performances. There have already been some great female performances. They say Emma Stone is fabulous (as usual) in Poor Things as well.
@@r.c.c.10"great performances" - Those were typical D-category performances, and the fact that Oscar will homage those performances tells us sane people how insane the scars has gotten in the last two decades.

that really speaks a lot to Bradley Cooper, and I'm really glad to hear that he'd do that, to some it might seem small, but he is the director of the film, he could've easily put himself in top billing. It reminds me about what Margot said about Ryan Gosling being okay with Barbie.
She is the co-lead of the film, the film is about their relationship so both of them are leads and it's only natural she got top billing, not ''generous''
@@GuineaPigEveryday Mmmmm, why wouldn't Ryan Gosling be okay with Barbie? You're making way bigger deal out of this than it is basing it on implication that most men wouldn't be okay while literally there are many movies/series with women as leads and males as secondary characters. But sure, lest make him a hero now... With all respect to Ryan

I love it when filmmakers decide to use black and white - it’s always so beautifully done.
The prosthetics on Cooper are absolutely phenomenal! Kazu Hiro once again at the top of his game with the make up!
Kazu Hiro did the make up? The guy who turned Charlize Theron into Megyn Kelly, Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill? Dang, looks like he might be getting a third Oscar
@@Fl0k5ser The very same.
Cooper looks like Herbert von Karajan with the make up and the gray hair.
Even the nose?? lmao
Bradley cooper really embodies Bernstein, cannot wait for this movie to bring more attention to such an important man.
never imagined 1 minute of a teaser would take me back to a time I have never lived or experienced...this feels like true cinema! damn
He doesn't just look like Lenny, he really *sounds* like Lenny. I can't wait to see this.
That wide shot of him conducting the choir. Can watch it over and over.
So excited for this as a fan of Bernstein, Classical Music, and Cinema in general!
I appreciate that this teaser features what was the true love of Bernstein’s life: the music of Mahler.
To make this a romance-drama seems so accurate GOOOOODDD. Also the make-up is amazing, HIS VOICE AS OLD BERNSTEIN IS INSANE, the way he conducted is freaking the same, the analog feeling of it and the ratio, the score; every decision feels like the right one... i'm not ready for this
literally took the words out of my mouth!
I am sooooo not ready for this, but need it all the same
Lydia Tár shows up in the end credits, "I'm putting together a team…"
The villain reveal is Cardi B.
Bradley is getting an Oscar for this performance
I thought Oppenheimer had it locked up but after this trailer I’m not so sure. If Cooper brings it in this film we might have a no country vs there will be blood situation.
Gonna have to be very good to top Cillian!
@@jonisafreak3 Well we also have Leonardo DiCaprio as the lead actor in Killers of the Flower Moon that has been getting widespread critical acclaim 🤷
Cillian Murphy, Leonardo DiCaprio (unless Killers of the Flower Moon underperforms) and Bradley Cooper are getting nominated (unless Maestro underperforms then no). The Venice Film Festival is going to be interesting
Not all that matters.
This trailer is so moving and beautiful; it's really like it's own short film. I can't stop watching it.
Oh, Bradley! Your filmmaking is a gift to behold as an audience member.
Finally acting at its best, art still lives in a time of insta celebs and attention seeking talentless shallow souls. Thank you Bradley.
Damn. This, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Oppenheimer are going to fight it out. It looks amazing.
I cannot wait to see this movie! Bradley Cooper is absolutely perfect casting and I can tell he really cared a lot about this role and this movie!
One of the best casting decisions ever. He even sounds like him. So excited.
Well he cast himself, lol, so...
I don’t know why tears are streaming down my face but I am excited to watch this.
Bernstein is amongst my favourite orchestra conductors, Cooper’s resemblance is uncanny. I sure hope this will be good
My Dad was friends with Lenny in grade school.
Lenny "played" Carmen?
I hope the movie includes all his romantic life, as it’s deeply inspiring and emotional. Can’t wait to watch it ❤
I wonder if it will include the gay side of his life. :)
@@enriquesanchez2001 Bradley can't risk showing something so close to his own life.
So you're saying Bradley has inclinations or what? @@Armistead_MacSkye
@@enriquesanchez2001 This trailer shows that it does at the 44 second mark.
@@enriquesanchez2001 yep, that’s what I mean.
Forget the nose. The BERNSTEIN VOICE and cadence is spot on!
As a huge fan of Bernstein’s work this movie looks fantastic! Cooper is the Maestro himself! Can’t wait for this!
He meant so much to me as a child and later, musician. I can't wait to see this. Thank you, Bradley Cooper.
Bradley Cooper, great actor and director!
Carey Mulligan should've won an Oscar for Promising Young Woman. She is great in everything she does.
Absolutely.
@@TonysMusic1974 Hahaha, wtf? Promising Young Woman is a film, not a category.
This looks extremely artsy and I’m all about it!!
I was not expecting to get chills from that trailer! I'm looking forward to this now!
This is looks amazing. I feel like this movie should be in the big screen not just on Netflix.
It's getting a theatrical release a month before. Most of Netflix's prestige films get theatrical distribution before going online.
Netflix needs to pull a Glass Onion and give it a wide traditional release at AMC & Regal.
@@tmovies92it is.
I mean Netflix makes a lot of money.
I liked this trailer ten times more than the movie
Bradley Cooper just completely transformed. I never rated him as an actor before to be honest, but here he is just ... Incredible
Just hearing Mahler's Adagietto has made me excited.
This is CINEMA! - Martin Scorsese.
I love how eloquently people spoke back in the day. Classy.
I could just see the award season going crazy this year with all these great movies coming up. Definitely going to see this.
The lawn shots at Tanglewood are gorgeous. Especially that last one headed down to Stockbridge Bowl.
I'm actually excited for this. Netflix should make more films like this!!
The gorgeous music alone will have me glued. To say nothing of the cast! 😍
His Mahler 2nd is going in the box with me.
Check out mr berenstein. Very insteresting man
I find it interesting that you recognize Mahler without knowing about Bernstein.
Amazing...
This might get an Oscar. Best director or from the same person best actor. Bradley Cooper is amazing.
I will watch anything that Carey Mulligan does for the rest of her life. Period.
This look beautiful, I wish all trailers were this short and succinct
Gosh this looks so good. Not saying this was an easy movie to make, but this is one of the movies where the premise pretty much guarantees a successful result.
Mahler is really having a moment between this and TAR
Bradley will win it all this year. Best Actor, best director , best cinematographer .Best everything there is. It's about time.
They will win best make up too
LET’S GO BERNSTEIN SQUAD! Only fitting that this comes the year after Tar too
This should be watch in theater.
The film is not just about Leonard but about their relationship so it's only natural that Carey got top billing.
That's because Bradley is a SIMP.
Mahler's 5th is extraordinary in this trailer.
I hope Bradley's nose gets a best supporting actor nomination
Bradley is lead actor in this, not supporting
Lenny was the beginning of many great things. In terms of Broadway musicals, we are still in the ‘Lenny’ Period and probably will always be. Just as once we entered the Romantic Era in classical music, we never left.
Bradley Cooper from Jackson Maine to Leonard Bernstein 💯
A true talent!!!
It would be a beautiful love letter to art and cinema.
i can't wait to witness this masterpiece in the theatre, the movie looks absolutely stunning and powerful.
In the sexy standup shot in the hallway, Bernstein with one of his many male lovers the suit and backprofile and hair and hands that Bradley sported were so Bernstein brilliantly portrayed absolutely stunning.
Thanks! I thought that was a guy with him. I don't know his story 🏳️🌈
Wow I would have never know that Bradley Cooper would do a movie about Leonard Bernstein can’t wait to see it
He’s unrecognizable, the makeup is very good
Oscar Oscar Oscar Oscar Oscar Oscar
Bradley cooper is a phenomenal star. He focuses on art roles these days than to do more vain blockbuster kinds to remain popular.
With Mahler in the background, perfection 😊
Bradley produces, directs, writes and acts. What a talented man. This year the Oscar for best film and actor will be very close
Вы забывете, что в этом году есть Нолан с Оппенгеймером и Мëрфи. Да и у Скорсезе будет новый фильм.
Whitewashed movie
Looks amazing, using one of the most beautiful pieces in the Western classical music canon, can’t wait to see this
What’s the name of the song pleaseee
@@westofminds Mahler symphony no. 5 4th movement, Adagietto

The combinations of actors, writers, producers is a golden triangle! 🎉🤩
Hoping Carey Mulligan finally get the Oscar she deserves!! ❤
We'll have to see the rest of performances. There have already been some great female performances.
They say Emma Stone is fabulous (as usual) in Poor Things as well.
"she deserves" - What does that even mean?
@@r.c.c.10"great performances" - Those were typical D-category performances, and the fact that Oscar will homage those performances tells us sane people how insane the scars has gotten in the last two decades.
This is definitely Academy Award nominee, you can easily tell by the vibe. Looks fantastic, once a year Netflix producing something other than shit.
Has anyone noticed that CareyMulligan has top billing and the film is called maestro .....that's incredibly generous of Cooper.... it's a clear indication, she will be the major front runner for best actress
❤
that really speaks a lot to Bradley Cooper, and I'm really glad to hear that he'd do that, to some it might seem small, but he is the director of the film, he could've easily put himself in top billing.
The film is called Barbie so Gosling knew what he was signing up to... Plus, he got to participate in a cool funny project, show his comedic abilities and earn huge money. But sure, lest make him a hero now... With all respect to Ryan
I absolutely adore how this has the lush feel of a film from the 1940s, like Hitchcock’s Rebecca!
And that shot of Carey Mulligan underwater is eye-popping!
This is already one of the top contenders for the next Best Cinematography Oscar!
