Todd Kenreck & Lauren Urban discuss using the Peace Domain subclass for the Cleric in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Clerics who serve the gods of the twilight domain bring comfort to those who seek rest and protect them by venturing into the encroaching darkness to ensure that the dark is a comfort, not a terror.

    Steps of the Brave
Beginning at 6th level, you draw strength from your connection to twilight and find yourself at home within its dark embrace, gaining two benefits:
    • You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
    • If you are in dim light or darkness, you can use a bonus action to magically give yourself a flying speed equal to your walking speed until the end of your next turn.

My dwarf sorcerer just switched over to Twilight Cleric after four levels of Sorcerer (religious calling). I've just hit level 2 Cleric and now I can walk around the battlefield with Twilight Sanctuary up and buff party members, and if someone goes down, I can Cure Wounds at 30' using a sorcery point, then as long as they're in the sanctuary, they at least get temporary hit points their next turn. Great for standing over a fallen comrade, or coming to their aid.

My twilight cleric is going to wear a "Team Jacob" shirt when he takes a long rest.
Also, you don't have to wait for night to fly as a twilight cleric, you can do it during the day. The twilight sanctuary says that it is "filled with dim light" not that it sheds dim light. That means that even during the day it turns bright light into dim light inside the sphere, and thus you can fly.

Perfect pick for the Curse of Strahd campaign. 300ft darkvision. This one almost begs for a Spell Sniper or/and Observant feat. More than that - you can even share your super-darkvision with your teammates. Lvl 3 grants See Invisibility spell, so surprising or hiding something from this fella becomes even harder.
Lvl 5 -> Leomund's Tiny Hut and good bye creepy nights in the wilds. Except for maybe getting poked by creatures like Night Hags, who can do nasty things straight from Ethereal Plane.
I'm not against all that stuff, but DMing for a party with a Twilight Cleric would be quite challenging.

I've been running a Protector Aasimar Celestial Warlock/Twilight Cleric pretty much since the UA dropped. It's an incredibly interesting mix, and I'm having a ball with it. When it was in UA, the lore text to be a twilight domain was "Clerics who serve these deities tend to be brave, delving into the dark to hold its dangers at bay and to bring comfort to those lost far from the light" and my character was that. Thank god my DM did that, im having so much fun with how fun and tricky my cleric can be. Im gonna multiclass into circle of stars druid for the starry form and the whole premise of my character is about the stars.

I've built a Soul Knife Rogue/Twilight Domain Cleric. Having the ability to share dark vision and have telepathic communications with potentially the entire party sounds pretty cool. You are now the comms officer of the group. Also, having a chaotic cleric that can throw soul knives is a cool concept. Cleric, "I will damn and destroy your soul". It's also nice that the soul knife rogue gets two knife attacks straight away. If you make a high dex cleric build, those two attacks add up nicely. Even before you add any sneak attack damage. I'm anxious to play this character in an future campaign. It should be quite interesting.

Also as for My Little Pony, Princess Luna is a very good fit for characters as well, her her wearing heavy armor would also fit since she tends to act more militaristic than her sister Celestia, I can see her on the frontlines protecting everyone and healing them

Yeah I had level 6 twilight cleric in my session. had to nerf the features of this class case it was so busted compared to the other people, made it so it is a 60 foot darkvision and becomes 120 if you already have darkvision, and that CD you only get half you cleric level + d6 temporary hp and the creature gains advantage on it's next saving throw against charmed or frightened or to end a charmed or frightened effect. With these changes still one the best clerics I have seen at my table, Both clerics form this book are horribly designed.

@@skymanta1222 twilight cleric forces enemies to deal more damage not relay on Charm and Frighten (which cuts out a lot of monsters) and monsters need to have stuns (which the most unfun thing for players is to skip turns) it is more work for me as I have modify every encounter, which is unfun and takes away time for prepping other import things like story and lore. also it makes less fun or the rest of the party as they feel worthless compared to it and having to be saved by the cleric against the now tougher monsters that weaker class can't handle, I have seen before with the with a Shadow Bard in my party who released the features after level 3 were pretty lack luster and was not having fun case they did not not feel the contributing to the party (which in that case I buffed the class). Wizard's failed to deliver a good product that is fair and balanced, I am not have my self and the rest of my party suffer because of it. Play the class case you think the idea and themes are cool (which it is really cool) not case it is broken. If you play the the twilight cleric just case it is busted, then you should not be playing it.

Clerics whacking people with weapons is kinda pointless. You don't get extra attack and you get full spell casting spell slots. You should be concentrating on spells not trying to get in for like 1d8 damage. Obviously do what you gotta do for your own fun, but clerics are not martial characters. Even if you give them weapons and heavy armor.

    • @vladimirserpov6773

Are War Clerics a joke to you? :D I DM'ed for a Tabaxi War Cleric.
Heavy armor + martial weapons proficiency + insane movement from race + various auras (spirit guardians deal tons of dmg if cleric's concentration is not broken fast) + channel divinity for +10 to hit with your weapon attack. They also can attack with weapon using a bonus action Wisdom Modifier times since lvl1.
That cat was devastating both in close and ranged combat.

@@skymanta1222 Ok lets compare clerics at 9th level. I'll give you a shield and long sword. 1d8+4 Prof+2 Strength (I'll be generous and assume you have +2 for your str modifier), 1d8 for your divine strike, and 1d8 for booming blade (assuming you took magic initate as a feat or wasted a level multi classing). That will average 18 damage IF your ONE weapon attack hits. 1d8+4 Wisdom will average 8 damage. And Spirit guardians will average 12 damage against one target. If everything hits you will do 38 damage. Now let's compare a trickery domain cleric with animate objects. As just a bonus action I can command 10 copper peices to do 1d4+4 damage which averages to 6 per hit. If only HALF of mine hit I'm doing 30 damage with just the bonus action. I still have my action to cast guiding bolt for 3d6 (9 plus giving the next attack advantage) or sacred flame for 2d8 for 8 damage average, or I could cast healing word and raise a downed alley. AND I can do all that from 60 feet away in which it would normally take two turns of movement for someone to close the distance on me. So I'm not having to make concentration checks every turn like you are. If you happen to fail your concentration check you have to recast spirit guardians with your action and forgo your weapon attack.... Being in melee range makes literally no sense at all from a strict mechanical point of view. A raging barbarian with a regular non-magical great axe will do 34 damage on average per turn before feats or other features are calculated and still have their bonus action for things like an opportunity attack. I would say it looks like you have no idea what you are talking about. And this does not even take into account the setup. You need 3 turns to cast spiritual weapon, spirit guardians, and take a weapon attack. Mine only takes 1 round of setup, and I can use it in the same turn to attack with the copper coins.

@@vladimirserpov6773 Or you could play a fighter battle master with precision attack. Throw on sharp shooter and action surge and your boss encounter just got melted. People say these things the like the war domain is amazing or their abilities are unique. A fighter can literally do the same thing much more consistently if straight damage is your end game. The Cleric only has 1d8 vs a 1d10 or 1d12 hit die. Once they use all their wisdom modifier attacks they are done for the rest of the day. AND you have to look at opportunity cost. If the cleric is running around the battlefield doing at best the same damage as a fighter what are they NOT doing with their action and bonus actions. You cannot convince me that taking an attack action and your bonus action for damage is a better use of a round than casting 3rd, 4th, or 5th level spells. Casting banishment or hold person on a spell caster is going to massively impact the battle rather than taking an attack action.
