- The Los Angeles Lakers lost their home opener to the LA Clippers last night 103-97. Russell Westbrook did not make a field goal for the first time since 2016, going 0 for 11 which includes 6 missed three pointers. LeBron James said post-game quote, “I've had bad shooting nights. Everybody in this league has had bad shooting nights. Who cares? I thought he played a great game." Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless react.

There’s a lot going on in other sports. Stop focusing on the same topics and teams
My takeaways from the game:
1. LeBron doesn't spark joy in his teammates (coaches included)
2. LeBron's sulking and passive aggressive behavior in detrimental to the psyche of his teammates
3. It's been said before, there is a Toxic element to his presence - teammates react with apprehension
4. Steph is a better leader than Bron.
* I'm questioning now if K-Love mental issues started when he joined up with Bron . I'll try to keep my observations are between the lines.
6. Russ needs to move on for his own mental well-being. It's getting ridiculous at this point
7. The fans at the games are trash
8. Russ's EGO is the biggest thing hurting him from blending in better with the team
9. Russ wants to make adjustments on his terms and that is hurting him and the team - but I do see him trying
10. AD... What can I say about AD? (smh)
There is something not right about his physical makeup. At this point I'm concerned for him beyond basketball. HE has lost his joy for basketball, it seems
11. The young guys are unproven but they have potential.
12. The offense will be better suited for movement similar to Golden State. JTA and Lonnie Walker will thrive in that type of offense; maybe even Russ's (there's often too much standing around and waiting)
13. I like the active defense. It started in the 3rdqt of the first game. They can build on that - getting steals and just being disruptive
14. Yeah - we already know this, they need shooting. This team looks like it might actually demolish opponents with better shooting and the defensive identity they are cultivating. I guess the Classic/standard makeup of Championship teams
15. They could keep the team as currently structured and probably be able to land the #1 pick in the upcoming draft - just saying. That would be a great move if Bron wants to take one for the team

I think Dwight should have been kept around. They did not play him more then 6 minutes a game last year, and he still was one of the best defensive player players the lakers had. He also is a great rebounder even at this late stage in his career.

Even MJ in his Wizzards years played for non competetive team, he was still very good, but not even close of what he was just 3 years ago. Not many players can play at high top level after those ages. Just ask avg. and common people. Ask them how they felt with 30 and once they turned 38. I can tell you, it's huge downfall. I just can imagine how it is with professional athletes. Even today with all those technological and medical improvements there are not many athletes in all sports who are preforming at top level in those years. After 35, 99% players looking how to finish career in season or two, not how to be someone who rest of team depends. Also old saying says "It's better to be young coach than old player".

I was actually impressed by the Lakers defense yesterday. Bev energy was infectious and had Russ playing great on D. The problem with the team is nobody can make 3 point shot. Wide open 3. Russ gave us 2 steal back to back on kawhi but we couldn’t take advantage of itZ
It was mostly bad execution on the part of the Clippers..who had 2 guys that hadn't played in 2 years and PG13 who has been in and out of sync in the past couple of years..if this team had been in sync, the Lakers would have gotten blown away !

Proud long term Lakers fan!!! Great defense last night and effort was the best I have seen in the past two years BUT we have to get another 1-2 shooters. Much as I wanna root for Russ, we have to trade him for Hield and Turner if Pacers still willing to do the trade. It’s the entire Lakers training staff. Not the head coach. I said this last year. Everyone who goes over to the lakers ends up shooting poorly. And when they leave, they shoot better. Pat bev was hittin 3s when he was with the clippers and timberwolves. Same thing with Carmelo. They need staff that can teach the team how to shoot!
Westbrook is far from the only problem. Lakers spacing is just down right awful.
