Thank you, some times after learning the basics and playing them well, then a lesson like this can be understood much better and appreciated. Keep up the good work!! Everyone is not on the same level! Thanks for caring enough to share!!
Just came across some of you videos---I really learned quite a bit!!! You made things simple and I really appreciate that. How great our God---now I can play it without looking at anything!!!! b/c I've been play heart and soul ALL my life!!!. PLEASE DON'T STOP MAKING VIDEOS AND GIVING TIPS!!!! THANK YOU
That all depends on the particular song you are playing. This movement is almost a universal turnaround that can be played in countless songs. The reason I through the blues scale and minor chords in there was so that you'd have the most common use, but it's not exclusive.
Just because I know it as a tritone. I spent a bunch of hours in class listening to professors and lesson's teachers say "Tritone" and it's funny to me that a great musician can be so good without knowing any of the "technical words". I guess it proves talent is more than schooling.
I do some similar things .. but with variations basically we're walking a base and playing a melody along with some riffs and tie it together with a repeating motif.. I'm still going to steal some licks..lol.
Thank you for this video God Bless you!! Would it be possible for you to post a video on playing pentetcostal praise and worship like this lil light of mine old time songs I'm just starting and I really want to play for the church.. Thank you if you can God Bless
Dexter Shearin Destined For Greatness I.J.N I can do that if you want on my RUclips channel it will be my style but it will be plenty to work on.. I ll try to make it doable.
Numbers is just another way of saying the degree or position of the scale in whatever key you are playing in. For example, if you are in the key of ' C' then the Cmaj is the '1' , the Dm is the '2', the Em is the '3', Fmaj is 4, Gmaj is 5, Am is 6, Bdim is 7. Now transpose this, or carry it over to the other keys. If you are in the key of 'F' then Fmaj is the 1.... If you are in Ab then Abmaj is the 1... There are many other videos and websites that go into detail about this. Check hearandplay.com, and gospelmusicians.com, just to name a few. Also try learngospelmusic.com which is more of a forum for questions and answers.
msmallsman the 3 and flat 7 are tritone a away.. three steps. let's use c scale. e to . bflat. is a tritone that's a base for a c7. now play this diad down a half step you have an e flat and a.. think Dominant f. take it down anther half step. aflat and and d.. were doing the circle of fifths.. we just did dominant c f bflat.
I’m not either. I know some but again we understand and teach things in different ways. As long as you understand music theory, chords, how to use them and when to use them you should be ok!
Spot ! I know this is an old post. Mozart had a perfect ear.. if I had Mozart's ear I would never touch the first piece of music. When I'm flying by throwing 64 this note arpegios run and melodies in right with walking base in the right on I couldn't read that music if my life depended on it I cover practically all 88 keys. I suspect you do likewise.. however there are times I would like to see something written down.. rather than hearing or watching it.
in your next video's will you do more playing while your talking, because I got lost for a min.you called off more numbers with no sound, than the video was over
Cedric R .. This is detailed and yes confusing but he does show everything . One of the things that is not mentioned is that this a common blues/jazz walking bass line. in the right hand is where the melody ECT happens but when taken together it does sound difficult.
OMG!!! Starts @ 3:20... he said this is going to be short and to the point... 3 mins into the video and I still had no idea what he was about to play.
coolbreeze Sounds y’all don’t complain when the preacher say I’m going to just say a few words and be out your way lol
probably one of the most helpful videos i seen yet

It is amazing and a nice beat
OMG, thanks for this so much. I knew the 3-6-2-5-1 movement but not the voices. Praise God for you. (I'm so excited I can barely type, LOL)

True true
Thank you!!! I will incorporate this movement!
Thank You brother , I really needed this . I really don`t play traditional music .

I would really appreciate it if you could post a break down of the medley. I want to learn it very bad, and you post great tutorials

Great stuff my friend!! Keep em comin!!
You could do that if you want. This is not a set in stone movement, and it depends on the particular song
Thank you for this video God Bless you!! Would it be possible for you to post a video on playing pentetcostal praise and worship like this lil light of mine old time songs I'm just starting and I really want to play for the church.. Thank you if you can God Bless

Would have been great to hear the progression played in real time, then break it down.I couldn't follow this at all.

@ldbboosha Well, like I said, I'm not that good with naming chords. I had no idea that was a tritone. Thanks for enlightening me.

This was extremely helpful in learning to hone my gospel skills. I lol'd pretty hard when he said the "4 and a half", though! #Tritone
So are you basically play your F major,F minor, F blues scales in the melody?
Great Video..!
Thanks so much, really much
just a question, shouldn't the one chord be a dominant chord... not sure but it sounds like it
dont know any keys or chords but i play by ear. Is that a good thing?
That is very good I can only play by ear a little bit
Spot ! It's wonderful but u should try to learn the chords and keys if any sheet music is given
Spot ! I know this is an old post. Mozart had a perfect ear.. if I had Mozart's ear I would never touch the first piece of music.
