I love this song and the sound you're getting from your QuadBass . I finally got my QuadBass up and running , will have to give these settings a try . Thanks Joe !!😉🍻🇨🇦
Awesome! Glad to hear you got everything sorted!
The ending segment that begins after 4:00 and goes until 4:30 will never cease to give me goosebumps since the first time I heard Grace Under Pressure when I was a young kid back in the 90s and my dad played it for me. There's something so beautiful about that whole part, the second part of Alex's solo, Geddy's perfect singing, Neil's fast drumming, the synthesizers going full blast, it's so perfectly synchronized, every last bit of it.
Absolutely! This, and maybe The Garden guitar solo into last chorus are definitely in my top all-time Rush moments
Holy, moly! Awesome job. As a drummer, I have been listening to and playing this song since I was a teen in '84. Because there's so much going on with the drums in this song, I never realized how much was going on in the bassline in this song. I just thought it was one of those songs where Geddy is focused on keys and singing... but, ummm, nope.
Man, how much do we miss this band?! What a beautiful legacy these three men have given us.
I actually have a recurring dream that I’m just at a Rush concert in some small random location (like my high school auditorium or something) and they’re all just there like it’s 2010. They’ve definitely left a legacy that will last a very long time.
@@JoeCalderone I had the incredible fortune of taking my 15-year-old son to see the R40 show in Kansas City. He's 20 now and we still go down the occasional Rush rabbit hole together. Aside from the pure euphoria of the concert and the magic of sharing it together, there's one subtle detail that, for some reason, sticks with me. From our second row center seats (I know, I know...) the raw stage sound of Neil's drums was every bit as audible as the PA mix. That really did something to me.
Great job on that flamenco technique! That's hard to do well.
Brilliant
It’s been such a long time since we’ve seen this bass. I’m glad to see you bringing it back out.
Yes! While it sometimes gets overshadowed by the ‘72 I was able to pick up a few years ago, this bass still plays amazingly, and it’s also the first pro level bass I ever owned. It was my big Christmas gift way back in 2006 🎄
@@JoeCalderone
That’s good to hear. I was beginning to think you sold it.
Loved the flamingo style! I think that nearly everyone that plays a bass guitar and see Geddy on live or in a video of a live performance, try the flamingo style xD. Really nice video man
I think you mean flamenco.
such a nice cover. the bass sounds just awesome 😀
Alex's #1 solo. Thanks Joe!
I agree!
Love this solo! I've always wondered if there was an imperfect punch-in during the descending run during bar 20 of the solo section (~4:07). Anyone else hear it?
@@sharpeyed From what I understand, I think starting sometime around Signals, Alex would go in and rip multiple takes and variations of solos, and Ged and Terry Brown would comp/piece together the best bits from various takes to make the best/most melodic/musical solo. Alex would then have to learn the solo that they comped together. 🤣 I'm not saying that this was comped together by Ged and the producer in the control room but it's possible. It's around the timeframe from the interviews I read as a teen back then. Lerxst fans would certainly know more.
What I thought was cool was Alex was totally down with the idea of Ged and the producer comping together a musical solo, he was never precious/egotistical about it.
@@jayswartzfeger7204 Ah yes, I believe I read about that, maybe in Geddy's autobiography?
@@sharpeyed I haven't read MEL yet, I need to pick it up! I think it was from a Guitar World/Player interview from the early to mid 80s. But yeah, your ears are picking up on something. :D
3:59 - activate FGM (Full Geddy Mode)! Well done as always, man!
Yes! Taking more inspiration from the live R30 performance rather than the original record for this one
I'd say you nailed that geddy lee jazz bass tone O_O
Jaw dropping. Brilliant playing.
Dank!
Wow, that was really fantastic, I still haven't gotten that fluidity with this style, still very sloppy at, but watching you play make me want to practice more definitely.
Great cover! Don't forget to flip your calendar. ☺
Thanks! I still haven’t gotten a new one for 2024 so we’re stuck with Christmas dog
ACE. A killer tune.
Nice rendition, joe
Man, that was insane! Great jamming!
One of my fave Rush tunes. And I would argue one of their heaviest! Love Grace Under Pressure!
Great job!!!
🙏❤🌹 Neil 🌹❤🙏
Sick!
Killer tone and perfomance as always!
Amazing...
Absolutely awesome! 🙌
Crazy cover Joe ! Thanx you !
