I hope you guys love All About Reading. I wouldn't bother pre prepping the activities. I'm able to cut them out in less than 5 min. I just do it when she is doing math review, or Copywork and such for that day. And thanks for being honest about the pillow smoothie fiasco. We have all been there!! And if you want my two cents, I would start with Little House, then do Narnia, Then Mountain, Then Hobbit. We read the first three this year, and the last three were complex stories for my just seven year old. I think we will revisit Narnia in a few years. And I'm waiting on the Hobbit. I hope you guys get a little down time before the Fall whirlwind begins! Thanks for the workbook rec to go with First Language Lessons, I'm going to check it out!

If I were you, I’d just ditch 100 Easy Lessons and move into the correct AAR level where your child is. We did the first 50 lessons with my then 5yr old, and moved onto Logic of English. AAR and Logic of English are so much better for phonics, in my opinion. We are with a charter in Northern CA and also use Good and Beautiful for LA.

I agree, just go all in with AAR. It’s a great program and we love it. I would also suggest looking up Toddlers Can Read and watch the free training. Don’t be put off by the name, it’s a good method for any age. Then do the letter sound and blending sound assessments he talks about. Then you can know exactly where your daughter stands with her reading. You’re doing great!

I struggle so much to find a program for reading, I can tell you after much trial and error all about reading worked for us 😊 We started with level 1, and I prep 5-10 lessons at a time.

Oh Ashley, I’m so sorry y’all had to deal with so much sickness this summer and that your trip to my neck of the woods was ruined by Covid 😞. You will have to come back to NC and replace your experience with a fun visit! 😂 We tested out summer schooling this summer too and I’m glad we did some learning, but I think we are going to take more of an actual break next summer to give myself and the girls a nice reset for the next school year 🥰. I also feel like we have so much planned for this upcoming year, but I figure we will weed out anything that doesn’t work for us and hone our homeschooling style even more this year! 🤞You are going to have a great year with your daughter! 🥰

Secret Garden is one of my favorite books and the Hearth Magic book study looks great. Your daughter and son will love the unabridged edition.

I’d look into reading simplified. It’ll cost you $40 for a month but it walks you through training and it may help a ton!
