    That's really cool! Knowing what I know about resin I was like "he can't do that on a vertical wall..." and I was half right. With standard epoxy you can't but with a thickener it makes sense. Very awesome and now I want to do the wall around my shower. :P - Heidi

    • @davewenners6722

      BlackCat2 I did a vertical wall with a regular epoxy. I had to apply it in light coats, let each coat cure and keep applying until the correct thickness is met. I used Corotech block filler primer and the primer, Simiron Routes for the top coats. I even added color flakes, that wasn't easy. I had over 2,300 sqft of walls in 3 different rooms. Throwing color flakes at a wall isn't fun. I wish I could add pictures. My Facebook page has them posted. Granite State Epoxy Floors.

    Now I get it. You are showing people great ideas and artistry as far as they can possibly imagine using your brand of epoxy within that 45 minute window. Theres so much you can do creativewise in 45 minutes if you plan your steps very well and prepare your products accordingly, the 45 minutes is all about just letting your creative juice flow. That's big tip. Thanks! I think this is worth journaling.

    I love Mike... I really do. But this stuff is really for professionals only. We tried it. Bought the bonding primer, watched the video 20 times, read anything we could find and followed instructions to the letter. It's a complete disaster. The clean up to get the mess off is way worse, harder and more time consuming than the application. The bonding primer peeled off. The color didn't cover. We tried multiple paints and none of them worked the same way it does on the video. Mike does a wonderful job. Hire him to do it for you. This really requires a professional.

I’m counting on doing this in at least one of the showers (roll in/handicap) because one, it’s beautiful and two, a tile shower costs from $3,000 to $7,000 for something not so individualized. I know it’s generally the same technique. More wall videos, please!

    Three Questions: 1.) What happens where it meets the floor/tub/walls - I assume there's some flow downwards and maybe some pooling - do you tape it, or...?, 2.) Is the finished texture smooth or does it retain the peaks and valleys from the troweling? and 3.) Would you topcoat this and if so, is thickener also added...?

      @MNIGN56 5 лет назад +9

      I would like to know as welll

    • @TN_Travesty
      @TN_Travesty 5 лет назад +27

      1. Use Tyvek type tape at areas you're taping off, remove tape when product is tacky but not dry to create nice cut lines at edges, peel tape at a 45 degree angle from surface. The amount of thickener directly influences flow. When mixed properly, the material stays where you trowel it. 2. Retains the peaks and valleys from troweling. 3. Topcoat is not necessary but if you wanted to, yes, the thickener would be added. (If you want a smooth surface while maintaining the "depth" you'll need to apply several leveling topcoats, sanding in between and be careful not to burn through and sand off the ridges.) This is what works for me.

    I would like to try this in my small kitchen over the sink and stove. Could I do it over 2 pieces of plywood laying flat and then just raise the boards into place and glue them into place over my sink and counters? What thickness plywood wood you recommend and how to attach it to the exiting wall without nailing into the finish?

    • @StoneCoatCountertops
      @StoneCoatCountertops  5 лет назад +2

      Great question Lena! You will pour your walls as they lay flat and add any design you wish. We like to use ¾” MDF Our free video training's show many options and color choices. The effects are truly limitless. After the walls are dry and the drips are removed by sanding, you can install the shower panels using 100% silicone as an adhesive. Give us a call or email us anytime with questions or for project support. (541)450-1976

    Wait... 2 questions. Do you still torch at the end? And why you say no veins? Is it because once you run the paint stick through... It doesn't level back out?
