Very impressive! And so thoroughly documenting the process, the difficulties and how you overcame them. I also loved the making use of seemingly mundane materials for the handle, turning them into something special. Beautiful work bringing this to life! :D
Here I am, 34 and currently rereading (reliving?) the series and just thought I'd see if someone had made one and holy heck, what a beautiful job you did 👍
That was beautiful. 😂 it was exactly what I need, with finals looming and everything. seeing it completed and sticking up out of the ground like that. It looked just like the books.
You can save allot of time by cutting out your spring as close to your blank as you can. By doing that you could skip to the bevelling and drawing out the tang. tho maybe a distal taper would have made it more like a historical sword. A bench grinder that takes belts could save you time to. You did very good. I am guessing you have either done this before or you did very good research.
True, that, but hindsight is always 20-20. :P I actually did have a distal taper; I just didn't show it in the video. No, I haven't done it before. Just watche enough videos of it being done to be comfortable enough to attempt it.
I considered doing that. The way I figured I would is to outline the words on the blade with an acid resist, like fingernail polish, and etch it into the metal using an acid like hydrochloric or just vinegar.
hay I was wondering, do you mind if I suggest your videos to some of the reaction channel's I watch? I have no idea if my suggestion will be noticed, but I thought it might be a fun idea.
"Forging a sword" *Actually forges metal* OMFG, do you know how many videos I come across that say they're "forging" and the video starts and they cut the sword out with a band saw, and grind it to shape? I wouldn't have used a leaf spring, but still better technique than some of these "blacksmiths"
Perhaps! But then in that case, we might also criticize many other popular fantasy stories for ripping off legends, like Lord of the Rings for ripping off Beowulf, which is where Tolkien got much of his inspiration. ;)
Man what an awesome sword, you really did the sword of Martin justice.
I am that is.
My sword will wield for me.
~Brian Jacques.❤️
Well holy shit, someone finally did it. Congratulations. It looks pretty good too.
:D Appreciate it, my friend!
This is a treasure! Just don't hid it on your weathervane. :D
Oh, I won't; it's hanging up on the wall where it will be ready to be used by those who would wield it against evil!
Oh good! I'm debating whether or not I should try to make one out of wood.
Very impressive! And so thoroughly documenting the process, the difficulties and how you overcame them. I also loved the making use of seemingly mundane materials for the handle, turning them into something special.
Beautiful work bringing this to life! :D
I am sincerely impressed. You brought a piece of my childhood to life! Congratulations, it looks beautiful.
Savannah Whitten Thank you very much! I'm glad I could bring this to life.
It's so beautiful! The craftsmanship is simply amazing. You definitely did the series - and Martin - proud.
Thank you so much! I am glad you think so. :)
BEAUTIFUL!!!
(Side fact: that badger lord who made it is named Boar (after four tree types in Mossflower: Beech, Oak, Ash, Rowan)
I am that is, my sword shall wield for me.
Skarz, you are an artist. This is fantastic. I keep rewatching it. :D
Thanks, Nova!
A delight of artwork bladesmithing.Well done for not overheating the riccasso,a common error.
Thank you very much!
I wish Brian Jacques could’ve seen this. He would’ve loved it, I’m sure.
Thank you! That means a lot.
Here I am, 34 and currently rereading (reliving?) the series and just thought I'd see if someone had made one and holy heck, what a beautiful job you did 👍
Thank you!
I’m 33 and doing the exact same thing as you Te Hopo
Thanks for the vid reminded me of the books. Long time since i read them.
They're worth rereading!
I've been searching for a small century to get this sword! Absolutely beautiful work, wonderful to see other love for this sword
I'm glad to see someone appreciate this. Thank you!
When I first read the title I thought of redwall. I remember reading those books as a kid. 😊 Excellent job on a warriors sword!
Thank you!
That was beautiful. 😂 it was exactly what I need, with finals looming and everything. seeing it completed and sticking up out of the ground like that. It looked just like the books.
I'm glad you liked it!
Absolutely gorgeous! You should be very proud
Looks great!
A mighty effort whose outcome is its own reward, worthy of salamandastron's own forge wot wot!! If I do say so m'good self.
That is just beautiful, it is awesome how dedicated you are.
Thanks!
Huge fan of the redwall series and now a huge fan of you that sword looks almost cartoonish and I love it
Almost cartoonish? That's not the affect I was trying to get across at all! ;D
Thank you, my friend.
Okay fine, then we will transform "almost cartoonish" to "Functional art"
That works. ;)
Looks great
Thank you!
Great video man! I want to start my own forging as a hobby. Your videos help and are very entertaining to watch.
Thanks! Best of luck to you.
Nice work.
Thank you.
Well done
Thank you sir!
Amazing! I was about to forge this very sword, but you beat me to it! It turned out better than I could've made it.
Wow, what a coincidence! That's awesome. I heartily recommend you do it your own way as well; I would love to see it if you make a video.
Cave of Skarzs definitely! I'm waiting to get a good camera setup before I start recording.
Alright!
I assume you're a fan of the series. Have you checked out the community forum?

How would you put the "I AM THAT IS" on the blade, if you even decided to?
I considered doing that. The way I figured I would is to outline the words on the blade with an acid resist, like fingernail polish, and etch it into the metal using an acid like hydrochloric or just vinegar.
What grits of sandpaper did you use?
I believe the grits went up like 80, 120, 320, 400, and 800.
@@caveofskarzs1544 and then you used the buffing wheal right?
Can you make martin the warrior's shield as well to go with ratdeath
Haha, well, I'm not sure, haven't thought to do that. I'd be more likely to remake the sword, actually, since I know I can do better
Dank m8
Make the shield!!!
Ooh. A challenge.
Impressive but there is an engraving saying I am that is
Unfortunately not. I didn't have the equipment to do so at the time. 😝
@@caveofskarzs1544 no worries this is still ver cool
DANILO
👍👍👍
hay I was wondering, do you mind if I suggest your videos to some of the reaction channel's I watch?
I have no idea if my suggestion will be noticed, but I thought it might be a fun idea.
awesome work on that sword by the way! it look beutyfull! . . . I have an odd feeling I spelled something wrong. O well.
+A Bluetooth *look's* not look! . . . I forgot to put an s in again.
Feel free.
Sweet deal man
Thanks!
What, you didn't make it three inches long? ;)
Would you have preferred a three inch sword to this? XD
You forgot to slash melons
Lol.
Cave of Skarzs or would you prefer a pumpkin
Cave of Skarzs love the build though

Lol. The word "forging" can be a bit clickbait sometimes.
You need to anchor your anvils better
ive mad a badass knife, if you have facebook, i coukld send it too you
Well, keep up the work.
that story ripped off the story of Sigurd
