Arkansas’s defense has been the strength of their team, I don’t even think you understand the profile of this team. The offense is opportunistically explosive, the defense is fantastic
What I took away from this weekend is, certain “top tier” sec teams aren’t who the media wants us to believe they are. Espn really wanted us to believe that tennesee was going to be like a prime Lincoln Riley ou team this year with one of the best offenses in the nation.
Every thing is still on the table for Tennessee. I said it before the season and had even more hope after seeing a few games. This defense is going to have to give time for Nico to grow. Let him make mistakes and not cost us. Unfortunately last night we couldn’t over come those mistakes/off night. Nico is going to have to grow up and at times it’s going to be hard. Last night was hard. Clean it up and move in to Florida. Bama is not world beaters. UGA is not world beaters. We still have everything in front of us.
Tennessee’s biggest problem that I saw was almost zero passing over the middle. No quick slants or anything. It was just wide”screens or deep balls to the outside. The problems on offense imo were mostly on play calling. Also a few back breaking penalties like the running into the kicker that led to the Arkansas first TD to make the score 14-13.
True. But on the other side, there was one drive that Tennessee had on a single busted play go for a bunch of yards. And one drive that was full of a ton of penalties. Without those two drives Tennessee is shut out. Arkansas dominated in the first half and Tennessee was beyond fortunate to still be only down 3-0. Coulda easily been 28-0.
Passing across the middle is impossible with constant pressure. It’s also ridiculous that the officials are garbage but that’s nothing new. Tennessee beat themselves last night though.

If Ross hadn’t roughed the punter (which led to ARK’s first TD), if Nico hadn’t overthrown Squirrel White on that deep ball, if TN’s WRs/TEs had come down with one of those contested catches on those 4th quarter 3rd downs… we may be having a different conversation. Likewise, if Arkansas had converted in the red zone in the first half, maybe the game never would’ve been close. They threw the goalposts in the river when they beat Alabama when Alabamas quarterback had dislocated his shoulder the week before. Then they tell me...."I didn't think he was injured....".
It's simple any team in the SEC can beat any team you either show up to every game or you lose GBO we will bounce back and this should be a learning point quit being conservative and show up to every game
It shouldn't be tempting at all. What makes it tempting is that it's normal to lose one game a d the fan base says the dky is falling. I love college football but the fans sucks lol
Tenner had 2 weeks to prep for this game but appeared unprepared. The Arkansas defense attacked and dared Nico to win with his arm. I think it was extremely questionable to let the Hogs score to potentially go up 7 (yes, I know they missed the 2-pt conversion) when they hadn't moved the ball well all night. The better play would have been to use your timeouts, play defense, force the FG attempt (with a backup kicker) with a backup QB and then still have probably around 60 seconds to get in FG position for the win. Tenner's clock management was baffling.
I disagree completely. Letting them score the TD was ultimately the best call especially when Arkansas got the first down inside the 10. Otherwise Arkansas would’ve ran the clock down to well under a minute, and kicked an FG to win it. That said, Heupel should’ve used a timeout on the huge first down around the 58 second mark instead of letting the clock run. That ultimately led to the final play with 6 seconds left and that play being an absolute disaster similar to 2021 Ole Miss.
@@richardjohnson8942 Arkansas would have just held the ball and kicked a fg while time expired. We would not have had a chance to win at all if we tried to play defense
Tennessee's quarterback didn't look that great to me, definitely not worth the ridiculous amount of money he's gonna be receiving. He could retire after college. AND Ridiculous last play, then him saying the ball slipped out of his hand. BS
Congrats to Pig Sue E , Tennessee needs to upgrade at WR position . Our offense only works when we have legit take the top off receivers. Unfortunately we DO NOT have that this year.
I said this years ago and I believe it to be true. First you got social media that helped the smaller schools become more visible. Then you got the portal that allowed players to move when and where they wanted to. Now you got NIL that allows a team to get the 1 or 2 players to make them win some UN winnable games. See Vandy. I think all 3 of these items will bring parity. Just my opinion.
What did you tell us? He is a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN. 6th start. Relax everyone. We will be fine. It's just football. Everyone has an opinion, which they are entitled to. It will be fine. We will beat Florida, who is not the Florida of old. The Bama game is in Knoxville. Also, we had 3 starting receiver get hurt. Only had Brazzell and freshman Mike Matthews 100 percent. This was execution and discipline, period.
The loss was due to bad coaching awful offensive play calls we have the talent in the players but damn you cant waste first downs and run draw plays 75 percent of the time the coach play calling is a damn joke i can set on the couch and tell you what they're going to do that offensive play calls from Vols is a damn joke it has been for several years
The one thing you are neglecting to mention on your cast, is there where NO turnovers by either team. Arkansas two loses were both -3 and -3. You cannot win when you turnover the ball. If Arkansas would have turned over the ball 3 times, UT would definitely have capitalized and the outcome completely different!
The thing is Arkansas is better than most think. They're 2 plays away from being 6-0. And those 2 losses were against ranked teams on the road. Led A&M all game til finals minutes & we know A&M has a solid football team. Arkansas was just the better team. That defense is hungry & relentless. Offensively they move the ball but are leaving points off the board & that's what they have to clean up. You're not going to play the hogs & come away with an easy win, you're gonna be a dog fight. And no I'm not an Arkansas fan I just watched the game. Tennessee had cupcakes 3 out of those 4 wins. There o line & d line got whooped for the most part. Hogs should of won by 17.
Ever since this single back formation was introduced it is very apparent that the running game looks great when our offensive line is better than the other teams defense , but when they come up against a good defense they suck. Why the hell do we keep running the single back formation? Oh sure we run up fantastic numbers when we play lame teams but always lose to the three or four good teams every year. We got two great backs. Why not use them. Two backs enables us to run misdirection, outlet passes, tons more deception and an extra blocker. Do you not think those two backs would love to be able to knock someone on their ass every other play? For Gods sake do something different.
i think everyone is blind. We looked awful against oklahoma only the defense kept us in it to win it. Arkansas exploited us right. We only screen pass and run it up the middle. If thats all we can do we will lose pretty much the rest of our games.
I was a hard fought game against a very tough Arkansas team. It also was a poorly called and executed game. Especially at the end, you have 3 timeouts and use 1, and we run out of time. How do you even do that?? I'm very happy with Heupel, but what was that??
Take Florida and the points , getting 15.5 . Yeah I’m in. Vs teams with talent Tennessee will win by maybe a fg. Losses to Fl, Bama, and Ga should be just about the normal.
Ill say our O line is SUS! Our QB just showed me he maybe doesn't have that DOG n him! Our offense is in trouble, more than just about this game. We struggle against solid defenses . Have since Alex Golesh left, last year we all thought it was Joe Milton, now I think our play calling hurt Joe! I watch all the game every play. Im probably goin to pick Florida this week and id rather eat broken glass.
I told everybody not to get all swollen up on Tennessee yet. This loss is strictly on the coaching staff. I knew this was going to happen I called it. In coach huepel I don't know what he's doing. Or why he won't let Nico throw the damn ball. Run screen run screen run. We went up 14-7 and it's like you just tried to play safe instead of continuing to try to score. I told you it would be 2025 or 2026 before we're really ready. Nico's young and I don't think coach trusts him just yet and I don't know why you would pay a kid 8 million dollars and then refused to let him throw the ball. This is what it is to be a Tennessee fan. But I was ready for this I know we were going to lose yesterday.
Our offense just sucks. Our (vols) O-line is the worse O-line in the SEC. We have no decent passing game either. I don't know if Nico is what he was made out to be. Our secondary isn't that great either. We just aren't a good team. We will lose to Florida, knetucky georgia, bama and even vandy.
Wrong , it was Slaughter knew what was coming and they could always get into the right defence when we showed a certain look, very simple ...we stayed with what nico knew and didnt try to throw anything out of the ordinary in there . also think we let joey H. have full offencive play calling first half
It's pretty obvious to me there's some animosity amongst the locker room! That team was absolutely lifeless on offense last night... They quit before they got started! This is coming of a bye week which makes even more unacceptable!! Elarbee is in over his head we need a new o line coach no doubt about it! Play calling was very suspect running the ball up the middle all night long....😂✌️
The SEC might as well change its name from the Southeastern Conference to the Southeastern Cannibals because as conference play ramps up, everyone is starting to eat each other up. Last weekend, Ole Miss lost to Kentucky and Georgia lost to Alabama. This past weekend, Missouri lost to Texas A&M, Alabama lost to Vanderbilt, and Tennessee lost to Arkansas. In fact, here are some notable teams that the current 1-loss SEC teams (as of this posting on Sunday October 06, 2024) still have to play this season: Alabama: at TENN, vs MU, at LSU, at OU Georgia: at TEX, at MISS, vs TENN LSU: vs MISS, at ARK, at TAMU, vs ALA, vs OU Missouri: at ALA, vs OU, at USCjr, vs ARK Oklahoma: TEX, at MISS, at MU, vs ALA, at LSU Ole Miss: at LSU, vs OU, at ARK, vs UGA Tennessee: vs UF, vs ALA, vs UK, at UGA, at VU Texas: vs OU, vs UGA, at VU, at ARK, vs UK, at A&M Texas A&M: vs LSU, at AUB, vs TEX

Dude, we didn’t see the same game. Tennessee defense wasn’t that great. Arkansas whipped them for 4.5 quarters and shit themselves in the foot 4 times in the first half. It should’ve been 28-0 at the end of the first half
So, was the field conditions bad like at OU? Was TN playing only their 2nd and 3rd string defense again like they did against OU? Did TN let their foot off the gas again against Arkansas like they did at OU? I thought TN was averaging like 65points per game before the OU game. I mean that TN defense was absolutely awesome against OU’s horrible offense. Geesh. This is weird.
Every excuse in the book wasn't gonna save the Vols last night. Lucky for them, the Hogs offense is a work in progress, or they really would have been roasted.
The day after is always the worst especially when you wake up and see your picture of 1998 natty pic. O tackels where horribale. Our wr didnt get seperation and our coaches made horribale calls and one that was rediclous. You never never never let a team score. We had the d to stop them and then time to kick the winning field goal. Eveyone but the defence lost that game.
Fla and Bama become must wins. That's the aftermath. Teach Nico to at least throw it in the end zone. I would rather he had been picked off instead of what he did. 🙄
Agree. I don't see this Tennessee team winning in Athens. I would add Kentucky as well. Kentucky is dangerous enough on defense to beat this Tennessee team.

It's simple any team in the SEC can beat any team you either show up to every game or you lose GBO we will bounce back and this should be a learning point quit being conservative and show up to every game
Our offense isnt good enough to split those games to bama and georgia.
It shouldn't be tempting at all. What makes it tempting is that it's normal to lose one game a d the fan base says the dky is falling. I love college football but the fans sucks lol
Tennessee is overrated. It's not rocket science. When you play bums, you look great, but when you don't, "you look like you did last night."
We are still fine.
Nico is Guarentano 2.0
Arkansas had a backup quarterback in they didn't have a $4 million quarterback like Tennessee
It happens to every team in CFB. We just gotta go back to the drawing board
Told y’all about Nico… my goshhhhh
What did you tell us? He is a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN. 6th start. Relax everyone. We will be fine. It's just football. Everyone has an opinion, which they are entitled to. It will be fine. We will beat Florida, who is not the Florida of old. The Bama game is in Knoxville. Also, we had 3 starting receiver get hurt. Only had Brazzell and freshman Mike Matthews 100 percent. This was execution and discipline, period.
Arkansas defensive line owned Tenneessee's O line. Period
Arch Manning has more passing yards in 2.5 games than Nico has for the entire season. 🤔
The loss was due to bad coaching awful offensive play calls we have the talent in the players but damn you cant waste first downs and run draw plays 75 percent of the time the coach play calling is a damn joke i can set on the couch and tell you what they're going to do that offensive play calls from Vols is a damn joke it has been for several years
Being a VOL fan I am not feeling a win against Florida, Alabama or Georgia. 😣
UT needs to make their fans pay 20% more for talent fee. That will do it
Been playing behind the sticks for 2 games and for 2 game’s extremely conservative play calling for some reason
It looked like our defense was having trouble communicating
Nobodys talking about how #1 alabama lost to Vanderbilt
Oklahoma doesn’t have an atmosphere no were close to Arkansas. There not SEC big time
The defense gave the offense multiple chances to win. Tn is playing so vanilla right now
Now this I agree with.
It’s our offense run the same plays for 2 years we become predictable we got the talent and potential we just can’t execute
Tell you now Nico way over rated! Crumbles under pressure cant get the snap cant throw simple passes. 8 million dollars!!!!!?
Tennessee is still in it though!
Any team in the SEC can slip up.
Go Hogs 🐗
i think everyone is blind. We looked awful against oklahoma only the defense kept us in it to win it. Arkansas exploited us right. We only screen pass and run it up the middle. If thats all we can do we will lose pretty much the rest of our games.
OL issues, Nico didnt ahve a good game, WRs got injured, and for some reason they didnt switch to 12 personnel to combat the protection issues
Good game Hogs!
So Embarrassing 😢
I was a hard fought game against a very tough Arkansas team. It also was a poorly called and executed game. Especially at the end, you have 3 timeouts and use 1, and we run out of time. How do you even do that?? I'm very happy with Heupel, but what was that??
Take Florida and the points , getting 15.5 . Yeah I’m in. Vs teams with talent Tennessee will win by maybe a fg. Losses to Fl, Bama, and Ga should be just about the normal.
Redshirt freshman was the difference. Woo Pigs
Guess the sec isnt so mighty afterall 😂🤡 any p4 team can beat any p4 team anyday! Thats why this sport is the best!!
Play calling was very suspect running the ball up the middle all night long....😂✌️
Arkansas was the better team Saturday!!
WTB Alex Golesh as OC
Tennessee was overrated from the beginning.
The entire sec is as per usual
Too many self inflicted penalties. Why is no one talking about it lol
In fact, here are some notable teams that the current 1-loss SEC teams (as of this posting on Sunday October 06, 2024) still have to play this season:
Alabama: at TENN, vs MU, at LSU, at OU
Georgia: at TEX, at MISS, vs TENN
LSU: vs MISS, at ARK, at TAMU, vs ALA, vs OU
Missouri: at ALA, vs OU, at USCjr, vs ARK
Oklahoma: TEX, at MISS, at MU, vs ALA, at LSU
Ole Miss: at LSU, vs OU, at ARK, vs UGA
Tennessee: vs UF, vs ALA, vs UK, at UGA, at VU
Texas: vs OU, vs UGA, at VU, at ARK, vs UK, at A&M
Texas A&M: vs LSU, at AUB, vs TEX
They had it coming, all the dancing around after a score, all the me, me, me horse biscuits . Be humble now and play like a unit as one then celebrate championships.
Tennessee's offense is limited in what it can do at this point. Tennessee isn't a playoff team .that's obvious. Hope bext year is our year.
yea we suck, its nothing new, just wish theyd stop giving us hope, personally i dont think dropping us to 8 is low enough
I've been saying since before the season started this o line is a weakness.
🍊 Couldn't even beat Auburn...😂😂😂😂😂
We are not Natty contenders. Sorry, it sucks, but its true.
We had six off the board game over
Lol, i told these vol fans their team was overrated, but they dont listen. Reminds me of cowboy fans. Had one good season two years ago after sucking for over 20 years and start talking like their elite. Stop it.
Leopoldo Terrace
The vols offense needs help
Three wr out next last reps oh no
