When AR RahmanJi mixed Naattakkurinchi with Sahana in the song 'KaNNaampoochi Enadaa KaNNaa" in film Kandukonden Kandukonden everyone liked it. So a mixing of Carnatic raag aalaapana with the Ghazal is also enjoyable and HariharanJi rendered it excellently.

Jiska kaam usiko saajhe Aur karey toh thhenga baaje… Leave ghazal singing to those who have that hunar. The gayaki and south-inflected diction of Sh Hariharan is not suited to this genre. This long alaap too is out of place before a ghazal. Sh Hariharan should stick to the pakka raags. Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Saheb, who was perhaps Sh Hariharan’s Ustad, has sung this ghazal sublimely well - simply put, it’s the real thing.
