I picked up Patron of the Arts on launch day. I couldn't resist. Such a splendid, nuanced color; unique yet not at all weird. Now that it's arrived, we're back up in the 90s again and I'm counting down the days until we have cool enough weather to take it for a spin! I am new to painting my own nails and I find that a lot of Olive and June's formulas are easier for me to work with than other brands. I love Essie's colors, and that I can see them in person before I buy them, but I find that some formulas (hello, Ballet Slippers!) are still above my pay grade. Your reviews have helped me immensely. I really appreciate that you give a sense of how the formula will behave.
What a pretty fall collection from O&J! It took a little bit for the brand to grow on me, but over time I’ve really come to enjoy it and own many shades. I agree on the pearl topper showing up better on the lighter shade polishes. My faves are Patron of Arts and Still Life of Flowers 😍
This has me craving fall and I love your top three. I have not gotten a lot of o&j polish yet but I want these three. So pretty. Thanks for a great review.
I ordered the fall collection because I thought they were also pretty. I’m especially drawn to Garnet Glass, and the green one . I used your discount code, so thank you!
They do have a more crelly formula which can be a little harder to apply at times. I don't mind that. But, definitely use polishes you are comfortable with! 😀
Gorgeous colors! I used your link, chose 3 Fall colors (plus others), & joined the loyalty program. I’ve had one awesome O&J green up until now; great quality & long wear time. Why not get more?! 🙌 Thanks Laurie! 💅🏻
I hear too many complaints about O&J, so I won’t buy them, but I love watching you swatch them! I also watched an interview with their founder in the early days of the brand that really turned me off, she just didn’t seem like a very nice person. 🤷♀️ I looked for the interview recently actually, it’s gone. Must’ve been bad PR lol.
Sounds fitting because I’ve encountered some of the other gals behind the scenes who encompass that same mean girl energy. It is really MLM cultlike energy and takes the joy out of what I thought the brand encompassed in the beginning.
Not a big olive n june fan. I bought the entire starter set a while back. I like the items in that. But the polish....ehhh. It peeled and cracked the next day. I like Essie and OPI much better. Everyone has their favorites
It's true everyone has their favorites. It always lasts so long on me and I know others have said it doesn't. You just have to find the brand that works for you 😀
Being in the Uk I generally buy OPI polishes and I’m really getting into the greens. I’ve recently bought ‘This Cost Me A Mint’ which I’ll probably wear next Spring. I’ve also bought ‘Midnight Snacc’ to wear this Autumn. I love your comparisons and find them really helpful. If I see a shade that I love from another brand that you are reviewing, I can generally find the OPI version here 😃
@@kaffhockerIf it’s important to you: unfortunately OPI & Essie aren’t 100% cruelty free (they sell in countries that test on animals). From cruelty free kitty: “Essie is owned by L'Oréal, a company that tests on animals. Not only is Essie not cruelty-free but neither is their parent company.” I called OPI in LA and was told the same thing about their company. Love to Olive & June for being 100% vegan & cruelty free! ♥️ R🌱
@@ReillyWilde Yes, it's important. But animal tests aren't legal in Europe. They just don't have the "cojones" to stop selling in those fck-countries in which animal testing is obligatory. Worse: Nestlé is shareholder. To buy conscious is not always possible. In this case, Laurie compares mostly to OPI and Essie. So I compromise. Essie just won in "Stiftung Warentest" a comparison for lacquers over OPI. Second first place was Dior, but I don't pay for a lux-label. Don't be mad. I like and buy ILNP and Holo Taco more. These brands are solid. Olive & June doesn't ship to Europe like so many makers. It's really sad.
I see what you mean about the pearl topper on darker colors once you get to the plum brown color. It doesn’t really work does it? The garnet looks like it would be perfect as a transition between fall and the holiday season. My birthstone is garnet so I perked up when I saw that one. But the green shade and the plum-brown were my most favorite.
I had to return my first O&J polish. Hot Strawberry faded and discolored two days after I applied it. I tried to get help or an explanation from O&J and all they said was return it. Do these polishes hold their color? Hot Strawberry turned a fleshy salmon color, very weird. I used a Sally Hansen top coat could that be the cause? Anyone have any thoughts?
I think O&J is a sub par brand, I’ll never buy them. There are many complaints like this. They dry slowly, the color fades etc. personally I’m not a fan, but I like to watch Laurie swatch them anyway!
The only O&J shade I've noticeably had issues with has been Bold & Unshaken when it first came out a few years ago. Even just putting top coat on created swirls on the nails, it was so weird. I contacted their CS and sent me a new bottle but it did the same thing. It has since faded significantly so I never wear it anymore. I've also noticed that their Lilac Flutterby from the Stoney Clover collab has faded too. So maybe it's a thing with their purples? I haven't bought more than a few here and there but those are the two that I've noticed.
I've never had an issue with color fading, but I've heard about this issue with one quick dry color in particular, flamingo. Something about UV light I think? But I've personally never had an issue and exclusively use O&J polish
Hot Strawberry and Flamingo quick dry do the same thing with the fading. They can’t seem to perfect their neon pinks. I’ve also had issues with Bold & Unshaken where it leaves weird darker blue-ish purple strokes once dried.
Olive + June was my go to brand until recently. While I love their products, I had a very negative experience with their team. There is a lot of fake nice girl/real mean girl energy there. It’s a real shame. I will only support brands who are genuine in the future.
Beautiful colors. The green reminds me of the color of a jade plant.
Oh yes! so pretty!
I love olive and june, it's all I wear
I am so glad you love them. I really love them too ❤

I haven't had much luck with o&j polish. Not a good wear time and I wasn't real happy with the formula. Think I' stick with Essie and opi.
Yes, totally stick with what works for you 😀
I absolutely love museum date!!! That one is my fave!
SO good!
I ordered Self Portrait, Still Life of Flowers, and Museum Date. Thank you for doing swatches and comparisons!
Such great picks!!
I am a HUGE Olive and June fan - have every polish 😅. Love these fall ones too!!
So glad you are such a great fan!
Yay O&J! Thanks for getting this up quick :)
You are so welcome 😀

OOoohhh, I LOVE Still Life Of Flowers!!
Me too!
I love this collection and the shade names are so cute!
I think so too!
Thanks so much for your Olive & June review. I love their polishes! Own every color.

Same but different in Germany. OPI isn't a "thing" here and, if available, soooo expensive. My go to is Essie.
