I am from Jammu and I didn't like the movie that much. Hear me out before abusing and hating me. Contrary to the popular opinion, I didn't think that this movie showed all or much brutality to be honest because from what I have heard from my parents about that time, it was way darker and brutal. After the movie came out and all the great reviews it got and seeing the runtime of the movie, I expected them to go full-on which they didn't. Most of you guys didn't know about this and that is why it hit you more but I knew a lot about it and expected a lot more from this movie. Emotions aside the film did have problems as a movie like they didn't escalate the buildups, the pace of the film, stretched at parts etc. If they were making a smaller movie of about 1 hr 45 min to 2 hours 10 min then what they have shown about Kashmir and Jammu would have been apt but seeing the runtime and the time they wasted in the movie with other things, they could have shown a lot more... TRUST ME. A lot of Hindus, Sikhs and people from various religions died in the valley and some were mentally and physically tortured. Also, some of the Muslims died while protecting the pandits or who went against the terrorists, there was a lot more terror and tension among all the citizens which provoked the actions of the few than what is shown in the movie. But I would say if you didn't know much about the topic earlier, then you should definitely watch the movie(at least the parts in Kashmir) to get to know about the tragedy.
