I’m a cajun from the swamps of Louisiana and I shot a nickel sitting on 2 nails on an old post from 10 yards at 8 until i hit it. Hit it third time with my grandpa WW2 veteran guiding me. That way I would respect his weapons if I knew the power behind them.
Southern Land is another great Upchurch song. My parents was letting me hunt by myself at 13. I squirrel hunted all the time.

My kids all had BB guns by 6, .22 rifles by 11. They all can feed the family. All my kids fish, hunt, jug snapping turtles, trap. I was raised the same way. Kids being raised in the baxkwoods and farmlands are not the ones doing school shootings. Kids raised in the country have a different view and level of respect for life. My kids can also all run a tractor by age 10. They drive trucks around farm at that age too. Country kids have a curiosity of how things work and want to learn.

Playing with guns around 13 is very common in the south😂. We are taught how to use them and handle them and respect it.
13 isn't that young to be playing with guns, Azu. Playing with them responsibly, of course.
My brother had his own Mossberg 28 gauge when he was around six years old.
But that's just how it is when you're livin' in the country or out in the sticks.

Guarantee you it’s true. I got my first hunting rifle & 12 gauge when I was about 10 or 11. It’s very common in the south, especially if your raised in a hunting house hold lol
