Fuerteventura lived up to its name on the opening day of the 2023 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam as winds gusting in excess of 30 knots greeted competitors to provide a great afternoon of racing, which resulted in 4 eliminations for the women and two races for the men being completed as Slalom made a welcome return to Sotavento after a 4 year hiatus.

    Hey Ben,
great Video and really, really amazing action. I hope the PWA keeps this format. Years ago there have been even a few eliminations in a year that have been really awesome but now every elimination is extremely exciting, awesome. The while day I'm looking for live ticker and at night checking the videos here. Continue like this...I Love it

Hi Ben, I noticed the mention that foiling and fin could be separated in the future, I would be concerned that this could dilute windsurfing/ foiling. I personally think it’s interesting with the battle between foil and fin and it keeps all the talent together. Would it not be a solution to say that competitors must use both disciplines to score and then decide how many races each competitor has to do on each discipline then the champion would be the most all round competitor and we would keep them all together for our viewing.

Well early days but I see it being 2 separate discipline but the overall world champion would be the combined result. The problem is now... if you want to race fin there is no point and it will just die... I see a world where the fin has separate events and with in it we try and find wave slalom venues etc.. and be adventurous with the format. But need to be in re known windy locations. but who knows what will happen..
