SO GLAD you made this video, because you explained it VERY easily. As a female PE teacher to adult students being taught about "real-world" fitness, it is hard to teach the guys this (coming from a female). I appreciate you saying this in such a clear way. I will be sharing this with my alpha male students. ;)
The variation of dumbbells is extremely useful for a small person like me ruclips.net/user/postUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 But the dumbbell size being large it's hard to do certain exercises like deadlift ( I have to have my hands and legs a bit wider to accommodate the size of the DB )Otherwise happy with the purchase. No excuse not to lift weight when it's snowing outside.
When doing situps, Muhammad Ali said, “I don't count my sit-ups; I only start counting when it starts hurting because they're the only ones that count.'
Can't explain it any better than that. Great advice. As for the audio you guys need to listen to there podcast it's by far the best and clearest out there.
Thanks man! Such informative video. Yesterday I enrolled at a gym and as a beginner I really can’t figure out how much weight I should start lifting. Now I can explore more and have a proper routine. 🤩
What if the first set is easy and I can do 10-12 reps and not feel it in my muscles but then the next set I can do like 8 and the last set I’m down to 6?
I go up till I can do 2 full sets of 10 reps. And the last one I can’t do 10. Once I can do ten on the last reps I shoot for two more if I can do two more I go up
Great video!!! I have a question. Been training consistenly for more than 2 years. Everything's going good, but I'm finding that when I increase the weight for example doing biceps with a z-bar from 70Lbs to 90lbs (a weight I can handle for 8-10 reps) I dont feel a "Burn" in my biceps when I get to failure. But for example when I go down on the weight to a 60-70lbs range, I do 20 reps but feel a burn in my bicep that I feel is better and really pumps my bicep muscle. Btw I dont feel I'm doing a lousy form when I curl 90lbs. It just activates different the muscle I think?

If I don't struggle to the point I almost cheat on the last rep or 2 then it doesn't feel like I did my best. My incline bench will become a 1 arm at a time (with barbell) that's how far I push it. If I don't I feel like I didn't train hard enough.
Is there a difference between strength and muscle gain? I have been told that 12 reps 4 sets is good for strength with lighter weight for endurance, and shorter breaks. Whereas for muscle gain you would do heavier weight, less reps ( until you cant lift anymore), 4 sets and longer breaks between.?
What if your workout plan doesn’t have a specific rep number? Example in MAPS Black. I’m in phase 2 right now and most exercises say 8-12... so it doesn’t have a number but rather a range. Does that mean I should aim for 10 for using this concept?
I am a beginner, say if I was doing bicep curls, I am going like this 5kg - 12 reps 7.5kg - 8 reps 10kg - 6 reps Am I doing it right ? Some one please help me.
I don’t know if it’s right but thats what I did when I started and it worked pretty good. Most important thing is to go until failure or close to it though

Mind Pump TV Gotcha. Lots of atheletes get big, strong and powerful without perfect form. Lots of incredible atheletes even the current World Strongest Man really believes in perfect form and not training to failure. It's really subjective. Some of us need to push past breakdown of form to get results. I posted my failures. Wish I had video taped my contests. Damn I'm old. I said video tapes. Keep up the good work!
Mind Pump TV I subscribed and I am gonna watch your videos. I grew up following Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman. I alternate between both of their training methods. Dorian had perfect form Ronnie not so much. Dorian very low volume 4 days a week 1 hour tops. Ronnie twice a week training of his body 6 days a week long workouts. I even did doubles like Arnold did. Heavy training morning and night to get in incredible shape. Thing is all of it worked. What never worked for me was leaving anything on the table. I always did those extra reps. I always pushed as close to failure as possible and often beyond. It got me to all raw lifts of 495 bench 705 deadlift and an epic 1035 squat. Yeah those are my gym lifts. Contests are boring so I stopped going to them. I was doing what Larry Wheels is doing now. He trains to failure and beyond. It works even for regular folks ike me. We disagree but love training. Thank You.

Perfect answer! Answers exactly what we need to know!
What if the first set is easy and I can do 10-12 reps and not feel it in my muscles but then the next set I can do like 8 and the last set I’m down to 6?
Need higher weights and a 1 and a half minute break to ensure your muscles can recover
it’s fine bc it means that you’re going until failure which is what mostly matters
Call it a pyramid and pretend like it was planned

How to measure dumbbell weight. For example, if I buy 1 dumbbell, which weight is 6 kg then it means it's weight is equal to 12 kg or just 6
oh so the weight is measured in how much weight you pull in Both dumbells not a single one
Excellent explanation. Exactly What i needed to know. Thanks
The destination to reach is failure or very very close to it for a given exercise. While ensuring you don't snap shit up.
Nicely explained.... I m new to it... Thanks

It's the opposite
Great video 💪🏾
I am 18 year old female. I haven't lifted dumb bells yet. What weight should i start lifting? Pls reply
Maybe try 7 kg
Try first with 4 kg
It is much easier for beginners
Then slowly increase weights according to your wish
Depends for what exercise? Chest 15lbs, lounges? 2 set of 20lbs dumbbels. Just try it
This was really helpful, thanks.
I’ve noticed sometimes. I can’t go up on the last set
I’ll do the same weight again and still get to failure in less reps
Super helpful for a beginner. Explained it very well!
Thank you thank you
My 1. And 2. Set is always kinda normal but no matter what exercise, the 3. Set is always pain from start to beginning
what about breaks in sets like towards the end for like 10-20 seconds

@@mkmllrc try 7.5kg?
Try 10 kg dumbbell
Bodybuilders usually lift more than 100 kg
Atleast you should lift 10 or 15 kg weights

No but you will only reach true failure when your form breaks down and those are the reps which actually lead to muscle growth
