    SO GLAD you made this video, because you explained it VERY easily. As a female PE teacher to adult students being taught about "real-world" fitness, it is hard to teach the guys this (coming from a female). I appreciate you saying this in such a clear way. I will be sharing this with my alpha male students. ;)

    The variation of dumbbells is extremely useful for a small person like me ruclips.net/user/postUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 But the dumbbell size being large it's hard to do certain exercises like deadlift ( I have to have my hands and legs a bit wider to accommodate the size of the DB )Otherwise happy with the purchase. No excuse not to lift weight when it's snowing outside.

    Great video!!! I have a question. Been training consistenly for more than 2 years. Everything's going good, but I'm finding that when I increase the weight for example doing biceps with a z-bar from 70Lbs to 90lbs (a weight I can handle for 8-10 reps) I dont feel a "Burn" in my biceps when I get to failure. But for example when I go down on the weight to a 60-70lbs range, I do 20 reps but feel a burn in my bicep that I feel is better and really pumps my bicep muscle. Btw I dont feel I'm doing a lousy form when I curl 90lbs. It just activates different the muscle I think?

    If I don't struggle to the point I almost cheat on the last rep or 2 then it doesn't feel like I did my best. My incline bench will become a 1 arm at a time (with barbell) that's how far I push it. If I don't I feel like I didn't train hard enough.

    Is there a difference between strength and muscle gain? I have been told that 12 reps 4 sets is good for strength with lighter weight for endurance, and shorter breaks. Whereas for muscle gain you would do heavier weight, less reps ( until you cant lift anymore), 4 sets and longer breaks between.?

      Mind Pump TV Gotcha. Lots of atheletes get big, strong and powerful without perfect form. Lots of incredible atheletes even the current World Strongest Man really believes in perfect form and not training to failure. It's really subjective. Some of us need to push past breakdown of form to get results. I posted my failures. Wish I had video taped my contests. Damn I'm old. I said video tapes. Keep up the good work!

    • @MindPumpTV

    • @hardcorejab
      @hardcorejab 6 лет назад

      Mind Pump TV I subscribed and I am gonna watch your videos. I grew up following Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman. I alternate between both of their training methods. Dorian had perfect form Ronnie not so much. Dorian very low volume 4 days a week 1 hour tops. Ronnie twice a week training of his body 6 days a week long workouts. I even did doubles like Arnold did. Heavy training morning and night to get in incredible shape. Thing is all of it worked. What never worked for me was leaving anything on the table. I always did those extra reps. I always pushed as close to failure as possible and often beyond. It got me to all raw lifts of 495 bench 705 deadlift and an epic 1035 squat. Yeah those are my gym lifts. Contests are boring so I stopped going to them. I was doing what Larry Wheels is doing now. He trains to failure and beyond. It works even for regular folks ike me. We disagree but love training. Thank You.

  • @MAGAMAN
    @MAGAMAN 6 лет назад +1

    If it says 15 and you can do 17 you are using too little weight.
    If it says 15 and you can only do 13, you are using too little.
    If you can't do the full number of reps for the next set, rest a little longer.
    If you are going to strength doing large lifts like squats and deadlifts, resting for 3 minutes between sets in not uncommon.
    If you are doing curls, you are wasting your time. Exercises like chinups, supinated rows (palms up) and ring curls (using gymnast rings) can give your biceps a great workout while still working your core, back or other parts of your body.
