  • For our next MotoDeal long term review, we have Sam YG as a guest with his very own KTM 790 Adventure. Joining his bike is Jinno's Yamaha Ténéré 700. These two parallel-twin middleweight adventure bikes are top picks but they're as different as can be. Find out what both Jinno and Sam have to say about their machines on this special episode of Beyond the Ride.

This is a nice format. It gives a lot of information about the machines that you normally don't realize unless you've owned and lived with them for quite a while. Things that you won't normally get from reading the spec sheet and doing a short term review/impression video. Hoping for more similar content such as this.

I have a 790 Adventure and I took it offroad many times and did use it for training in KTM’s Riders Academy, I already dropped the bike twice and I only managed to scratch the hand guard. The 790 Adventure is also fast and easy to ride in traffic. The best thing is also you can ride it alone and not worry that you won’t be able to lift it.

Not sure about parts being readily available for KTM as mentioned by Sam YG. I had to wait 3-4 months for parts needing replacement for my duke 390 due to an accident, this was last 2020. KTM BGC said, yes, bikes get assembled locally but there are no spares. parts I needed were mostly rear parts (swing arm, axles, etc.)

Totally depends if they are fast or slow moving part. If you break a swing arm event Honda or Kawasaki will not readily have that. But in general, headlights, fuel hose, engine parts, I never had issues. I have several KTMs never had problems with parts. 3rd parties like Andres also has most parts.

The Tenere is 100lbs (35kg) more & has a 21" front tire. The KTM is light & has 17's (but these look larger)...good offroad if not wet. The 17's make all the difference.

I have a 790 Adventure and the front wheel is 21 inch and 18 inch rear. 17 inch is too small for an adventure bike.

@@Ken-yp1dg That’s not the point. What I am saying is KTM 790 adventure has an 18 inch rear tire and not 17. If 17s work better, explain that to the engineers that made it why they decided to install 18 vs 17.
