Coming back to this interview after the Chrissy Teigen scandal. I remembered when I saw this interview. She is not the first woman who has show up to her show wearing extensions and wearing a short dress but for some reason she felt it was ok for her to talk down and insult a 19 year old. Shame, Shame, shame.

Bettheny was judging Courtney, I believe, based on everyone’s first impression of Courtney. It was from some Entertaiment news show, where Courtney came across as the fantasy fulfillment of far too many middle aged men - a teenage human blow up doll. People’s reaction to this at that time was revulsion, and anger. Specifically, at her now ex husband Doug, but also collectively at men everywhere for having that fantasy. And people were angry to see a girl play into that fantasy, which would account for Bethenny’s harsh tone. The media back then served up Courtney and Doug as a freak show for shock value and amusement of the public. I’m ashamed to say I was one of those people that judged them and didn’t take the time to evaluate that there was a victim there in need of advocacy and compassion.
