He's just playing the role of the sleeper, while Billie is singing from the perspective of the sleep paralysis monster (monster under the bed) (sleep paralysis often comes with a feeling of some entity sitting on you, holding you down. I've experienced it once), and IIRC the lyrics/video reflect this weird love/hate relationship she (Billie) has with her inner demons.

The song is written in the pocket of a monster which is also in some way a version of her and how Billie herself isn't scared of it (since it's her) despite it being her enemy. Which is saying that she is her own enemy and also that her relationship with this monster is like a friendship even though the monster doesn't understand why Billie would think of it as such since it's not a "good" thing therefore making the monster want to 'end itself' and because of this it's like her (Billie) wanting to end her own life. The explanation I read was better at wording it but this is like the overall of it

Figures standing in corners. You’re being grabbed. Pinpricks on your back and along your skin. Talking to “someone” (when no one is there). The disorientation. It’s scarily accurate. LOVED the reaction tho!!
