I'm nigerian, i'm sorry for this unruly behaviour on the behalf of all nigerians, we are not all like this. he cursed your mum at the end of the call, but don't worry it's all going back to him 10 folds. God bless you and your family for everything you do. i have been watching you for 4years now
Don't worry, I think any rational person knows it's not all Nigerians and these people are not representative of Nigerians as a whole. I once heard someone question what it must be like to be a real Nigerian Prince. Those guys are never getting taken seriously 😂

Sounds like Kelly is a middleman playing dumb. He went straight to the scammer and ratted you out, then pretended like he was also playing the scammer.
I doubt Kelly too
100%
No that doesn't make sense. Pleasant warned Kelly and after that the Scammer still insisted on the money and wanted to send more information to Pleasant. If Kelly was in on it he would have just told the Scammer that he is getting baited by pleasant but clearly he didn't because he himself started to Bait the Scammer. The first theory Pleasant put up at the end seems to be what is most likely. At no point did Kelly anything to "rat" Pleasant out
Yehp! Clear as day!
100% this is what it is.
3rd theory is Kelly is in on the scam , knows he’s a mule but is playing dumb cuz he’s scared he’s about to be busted

i like how these scammers are smart enough to think of all these schemes but dumb enough to not recognize "Ben Dover"
They aren't as smart as you think. The smart ones aren't actively involved in the scam. Those ones stay in the US researching loopholes in the system. Then they write out detailed scripts of the scam and sell those scripts to the scammers at home
After coming up with the scheme, they have no brainpower left for anything else.
I think it's because English usually isn't their first language. And we know how bad these scammers tend to be with names, too.
Also they did not read "Toilet tester" Lol how did he came up with that

He got something wrong in the middleman's information and his real middleman is wondering why no money ever shows up.
That might be possible, good thought!
Nah, Kelly is in on it and playing dumb so he doesn’t catch on
‘Why would you send me money just for me to send it back???’
- ‘ ……. I’m gonna report you to the authorities.’
Perfectly acceptable answer!
Am I fired, why did you fire me?
……… im gonna report you to the authorities ok
When I first came to the US to pursue my higher education, within 2-3 months of being here, I was targeted by a similar scam. I had been searching for an on-campus job and mistakenly fell for a scam that resulted in me losing a couple hundred dollars and getting my bank account closed due to a fake check. It was a very traumatic experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone else. I hope that the videos you are creating are helping to raise awareness about these scams. Thank you for producing such valuable content!
I feel for you. I'm already a broke college student as it is. I couldn't imagine how it must feel having all that money vanish.
I received a email for the exact same scam just 10 days ago with our school's email address. Luckily our school sent a crime alert warning people about fake job offer emails and not to respond or cash any checks they give you. It is interesting seeing a video covering the exact same scam.
Everyone in this country is confronted by scammers multiple times on a daily basis. It wasn't always like this. Started about 10 years ago.
Same happened to me, but I thought I was getting a grant, and they took my money
Same as my daughter, who was a freshman at a college looking for a job on campus. Thanks GOD! She gave me the check to deposit and so I asked her what did you do to get this much money ($4.5K). She said just being someone personal assistant for a few hours and an easy browsing the net. I know right away that this check is a scam. I told her to block the phone# and email, and never answer to that # again. Life lesson learn... when you feel that thing is being offered to you is too good to be true, it is most likely something wrong about it, in this case it is a scam.
It’s really awful of them to target college students who are often hard up for money and naive enough to fall for something like this. I’m glad you’re exposing the scam
Thankfully Biden is paying off their student loans.
College students of today have never known life before the internet. They’re very very unlikely to fall for obvious scams.
If a college student is stupid enough to fall for something like this, then oh boy what the hell is going on in colleges these days

Kelly is involved I think.
If he really were then he’s either gone rogue or is really bad at being an accomplice, given that he spent the entire time screwing with the scammer and telling Ben not to send money.
100% unquestionable
Right bc if he had already been approached several times by similar individuals wouldn’t he have mentioned that in the first talk with Ben? But he played clueless then immediately contacted the good dr and he’s claiming he now is playing scam bait too. I’m sure Kelly would be able to put everything together for himself that it was a scam before Ben told him and mention it in their initial conversation.
We’ve had some teacher email accounts get compromised at my college and they send out emails like this to all the students. We are quick to lock down the account and send out a follow-up email to everyone letting them know not to respond but there’s always someone who falls for it anyways
I shudder to think of the headway that humanity would make if we put this kind of effort into something productive.
I mean it's ingenious that people can get so desperate to set up all the scams, but it sad that millions of people have been too stupid to fall for them
this is a pretty confusing situation. its easy to just believe kelly right away at his word, but he really didnt go very far, and i think its more suspicious that he went straight to talking to the scammer AFTER he JUST SAID ive never heard of this person. if he never heard of him, why did he know who to respond to right away?
Right! Also, how did the scammer know he was contacting Kelly?
Yeah my daughter got a letter about something like this. After looking into it, I found out it was a pyramid scam.
That's something completely different than anything that is showing on Pleasant's channel. These are straight up scams. And MLM is often a legitimate company that's claiming you can make money but only 1% of them do make anything of any significance.
@@americarocks1776 no I realize that. Pleasant shows illegal scams, pyramid scams are legal scams.
@@popixel I don't think pyramid scams are legal, lol. But MLM can be. Depends upon the hustle.
@@jenanne31 I never knew that. They seem like they are very rampant and they are always around. Well, if they aren’t illegal, they should be.

Great one PG! Just had a poor young man who fell for a similar scam- the email was sent to everyone at his college in India to their college email address. He notified the College after he was scammed. Thankfully the college took some action on the email address.
There's a certain ironic twist to that story.
When I was applying for jobs, there was an ad for a well-known travel agency. It was during lockdown so it was work from home and I was immediately 'accepted'. All of the correspondance came from (company) but at a yahoo address so I knew I wasn't dealing with the same company (who I let know immediately that they were using their name and logo). They had zoom 'interviews' so I signed on and the 'interview' was just a presentation of people in nice clothes and perfect teeth and clips with current employees saying how great it was to work there with phrases like "we're more like a family than a job" and "I paid back all my student loans with my commissions" etc. but they didn't ever say what the job is. Just that I could work there and I, too, could have nice jackets and perfect teeth - and an all expenses paid company holiday somewhere exotic. I only watched about 10 minutes. Then I got an email "We noticed you didn't watch all of the video". I said "you didn't say what the job is." so they stopped. I DID...however get them to stop using the travel agent's name and logo though.

Wow! The scammer, hailing from the southwestern region of Nigeria, swiftly hung up and swore after realizing he had been exposed.

This is a very common scam. I attend a public university here in the US, and these emails come in all the time. Have no idea how they are able to send emails to our university emails anyways, as only people within our university can send to each other. I’ve definitely given these emails a look over but luckily I’m smart enough to know it’s a scam. Thanks for spreading the word so others don’t fall for this scam!
It’s very easy to spoof the from address. A spoofed from and a reply-to that looks similar at a glance is all you need…
@@TTIOttioI’ve gotten a few of these, the emails aren’t usually spoofed, but are from compromised accounts.
A spoofed email would trigger a “This comes from outside your organization” message
My wife had a scam sort of like this, but it never got as far as them sending money. It was an 'interview' over Telegram (first red flag). I looked into it a bit more and it was pretty obvious it was a scam, so I did a fake interview with them and answered their questions in pretty ridiculous ways, causing them to act 'tough' and ask questions like "Is this an appropriate answer in an interview??', etc. They had terrible grammar, similar to the scammers you deal with.
In any case, they got frustrated and stopped talking to me as most of my interview answers pointed out that it was a scam. Good times.

You can tell this is a scam because no employer will hire an intern in this 3-5 year experience economy
Why not? interns usually do work without payment..

When I deposited a large check from my retirement account, my bank took the time to question me about the origin of the money to be sure I wasn't being scammed.
Me, too. I deposited a $7000 check that came from Schwab broker. The manager questioned me about where the check came from, and if I had ever gotten a check from them before.
Turns out that also they must get permission from the bank headquarters to accept for deposit a check for more than $5000. Moral: do large amounts via direct deposit or ACH.
Always with the 'Kindly`
It's so weird how that's become such a telltale sign of a scam, a single word. You'd think they'd stop using it.
It's baked into Nigerian English
The real scam is when you have a bachelor's or masters degree but you still need 10 years of experience for a entry level job...

I love how u sow distrust between the mule and the scammer if it stops them for even 1 day it saves someone else from being scammed!!! Great video brother
Sadly I can see how an inexperienced college student could get scammed by these jokers.
When I think back to when I was in college many years ago I could have easily fallen for a scam like this. I was young and naive about these things and could have been easily fooled by some slick talking huckster.
Ben, thanks for all you do in exposing these fraudsters and educating people on how to avoid being scammed.
I was recently in a class at the local college. The kids I was in class with were unlikely to fall for this, but then it was a computer security course🤣🤣🤣 And, the internships were orchestrated by a professor that knew you, often in person.
Nevertheless, I understand your point. My Dad who had built and troubleshooted computers as I hobby p, and who had to deal with calling Microsoft to install some OEM software, did fall for one of the Microsoft calls. He was about 96 at the time and actually fairly security savvy. When he suspected this was a scam he called Microsoft who worked to try to trap the guy and restore what had been damaged. I found out in the middle of the mess because he asked me what else he needed to do -- like freeze its accounts. Unfortunately I had to tell him he had to change all his passwords 3 double column 4-line entries. He did those from a different device. What a mess. He did call the credit card immediately, before calling me, and they trapped the charge.
Hi, Ben. Glad to see a new video from you.

I'm a graduate student in the University of Wisconsin system. I remember getting an email a while back warning us about this scam (I wonder if I still have it). Never did I think it would end up here on this channel, but thanks for yet another great video, PG! Keep up the awesome work! 💪

The fact that Kelly put a hold on their account tells me they aren't a scammer.

I have seen so many young adults fall into these scams. There is no convincing them otherwise. Critical thinking is a lost art.
and yet people say "The elderly need protection from scams". Younger people are more likely to get scammed, it's a fact.
@@B.H.56: that’s exactly right. I am a senior citizen and through many years of experience and knowledge gained I can recognize the telltale signs of a scam. But when I was a college student long ago I can see how I could have been fooled by some smooth talking fraudster, especially one promising easy money when I didn’t have much and was making $2.25/hour at a part time campus job.
Fools are easily parted from their money.
Younger people might be naive but if you fall for this, still, in 2024 with all the warnings and knowing you should always wait for a check to clear, it is beyond naive and being plain stupid. Harsh truth.
@@B.H.56 there is a simple explanation for this. The only reason younger generations are more likely to be victims of online scams is because there are far more young people using the internet and they use it much more often.
Things probably balance out. Some younger people don’t have the common sense or life experience to help them avoid scams, and some seniors are either equally common sense deprived, or are undergoing cognitive changes that make them less discerning about scams.

This is why I subscribed to this channel. The scammers live in a world much different than the rest of us live in. The reason why they hate the world of reality because just about each time you turn on the news, there are always reports of violent crime such as shootings. If we tell the scammers that their tiny little world is about to be scrapped, we are automatically guilty of bullying. To me, it would serve them right for all the nonsense they have caused.

@@dodgeguy232Maybe because it's something they haven't done. I think I've deposited 2 checks in the last decade. @@joshua.harazin I agree. But it is a failure not just in schools, but with lazy parents. Until the postal service and physical mail goes out of every society on Earth, this basic skill needs to be taught.
