It’s really awful of them to target college students who are often hard up for money and naive enough to fall for something like this. I’m glad you’re exposing the scam
When I first came to the US to pursue my higher education, within 2-3 months of being here, I was targeted by a similar scam. That's something completely different than anything that is showing on Pleasant's channel. These are straight up scams. And MLM is often a legitimate company that's claiming you can make money but only 1% of them do make anything of any significance.
This is why I subscribed to this channel. The scammers live in a world much different than the rest of us live in. The reason why they hate the world of reality because just about each time you turn on the news, there are always reports of violent crime such as shootings. If we tell the scammers that their tiny little world is about to be scrapped, we are automatically guilty of bullying. To me, it would serve them right for all the nonsense they have caused.
I almost fell for a scam like this once. Although I was applying for a freelance position and not a student job, the process this video showed was identical to my experience. I'm so glad my dad stopped me from making a huge mistake when I was about to deposit the fake check I received.
I'm a student in the UW school system. We have this email go through our school account about once a month. People know that it's not real but it still gets through our system. I believe there are advertisements for it on campus via chalk on the sidewalk. I've been meaning to bait them sometime but you got to them!
I get a lot of text and emails from fed x and UPS about a shipping box can’t be delivered to my place and tells me I need to pay to get it delivered. So I ignored it and deleted it. You should make a video about that. Cheers 😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥
They are a thing when you first payed or bought..they don’t throw a surprise fee for customs or anything else..I get same emails..I know better, I ship and receive goods from Eastern Europe almost every week for over a decade now..no surprise fees ever, it’s a scam straight up..
I get spam like that all the time! Luckily not texts - instead I get political texts all day like OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING UNLESS YOU DONATE RIGHT NOW 🙄
I never ordered anything outside of USA. Occasionally I order stuff from Amazon I have no problems with that. And I don’t Donate anything on anything. 😎😎🔥🔥
I'm a victim to an online scam this past week. I just wish I could get my lost funds. Would you know any professionals I can speak to about this? Any help would be much appreciated.
Ya'll, don't believe anyone in this comments section saying they can get your money back. It is another scam. It is unfortunately very rare to be able to get your money back after being scammed, unless you open a claim with your bank or credit card. Don't get scammed a second time. No random stranger on the internet is going to be able to retrieve your money.
Sons of a been on endless scaming rampages for decades robbing of westerners all over! Yet do many still falling in heads over heels for the sons of a 🥴🥺🙏🙏🙏
I’ve received a ton of these types of emails in my university inbox. Professors do periodically send out warnings about certain emails but, I’m sure some students still fall for them.
When I deposited a large check from my retirement account, my bank took the time to question me about the origin of the money to be sure I wasn't being scammed.
Me, too. I deposited a $7000 check that came from Schwab broker. The manager questioned me about where the check came from, and if I had ever gotten a check from them before. Turns out that also they must get permission from the bank headquarters to accept for deposit a check for more than $5000. Moral: do large amounts via direct deposit or ACH.
Pleasant, I've gotta say that your videos are crazy enjoyable to watch. Many other videos I see online lose my interest so fast but I've watched your videos in a minimized view from start to finish so many times on accident while procrastinating on other things :) keep messing with the scammers
This actually happened at my college as well. They sent us 2 emails. One stating "This is the last time we will notify you that we will stop processing incoming emails in your school account, and the reason is you failed to verify your Microsoft account which may lead to the permanent deletion of your account from our database" and another for a Job position at the school. Luckily, I told the director of the school who sent it to the IT department.
I encountered a job scam last year. Most things seemed legit and I was hopeful- the company was a real company, the person I spoke with had a LinkedIn profile. I had a written “interview” through Microsoft Teams, and then I had a second interview over the phone with a guy with a strong Indian accent. They asked for my sensitive personal information and that’s when I started to feel fishy. I eventually got in touch with the real company and they weren’t hiring
I'm a graduate student in the University of Wisconsin system. I remember getting an email a while back warning us about this scam (I wonder if I still have it). Never did I think it would end up here on this channel, but thanks for yet another great video, PG! Keep up the awesome work! 💪
If you pay attention to their wording, you will always know it’s a scam. We don’t say “ wage” for one, but they don’t know that. Pay attention to what they say and how they word it.
It must work on some level or the Nigerian scammer wouldn't be putting in the effort to " frighten " the student into complying. As far as the American Mule, I have zero confidence he is not involved and I hope you reported his Zelle account as involved in Scam.
I would have loved to give that scammer a piece of my mind for trying to steal from college students. When I was in university in the early 2000s, a scam email was sent out offering lucrative wages for doing surveys if you pay $20 for "training". They probably would have followed up with other supposed costs to get more. Disgusts me. The scammers should do what I did to make money as a college student - janitorial work.
Ice cream tasters make over $20 an hour to start. You have to have the gene to taste rancid. Not a joke. Not a scam. There is a large turnover though, I guess it's not a job that people keep for long...
When I was applying for jobs, there was an ad for a well-known travel agency. It was during lockdown so it was work from home and I was immediately 'accepted'. All of the correspondance came from (company) but at a yahoo address so I knew I wasn't dealing with the same company (who I let know immediately that they were using their name and logo). They had zoom 'interviews' so I signed on and the 'interview' was just a presentation of people in nice clothes and perfect teeth and clips with current employees saying how great it was to work there with phrases like "we're more like a family than a job" and "I paid back all my student loans with my commissions" etc. but they didn't ever say what the job is. Just that I could work there and I, too, could have nice jackets and perfect teeth - and an all expenses paid company holiday somewhere exotic. I only watched about 10 minutes. Then I got an email "We noticed you didn't watch all of the video". I said "you didn't say what the job is." so they stopped. I DID...however get them to stop using the travel agent's name and logo though.
I almost fell for this exact same scam! Me being broke became a blessing when I couldn’t pay the 80$ entry fee, which lead me to discovering they were a MLM scam
i get so many emails about getting a job. i send them to the stop spoofing email and they all end up fake. i think these types of scams need to be dealt with more
I got a similar one at the beginning of the year from the CEO of a local business with a school email address. He wanted me to mail something. I didn’t get far enough to figure out what he was trying to do.

As a Nigerian. I am sorry about this . Some of us are very honest and hardworking . The end was funny bcs we was angry he got caught and swore in Yoruba 😂😂😂
I had a friend that went to UW Parkside. It's in a large area so I doesn't surprise me that scammers targeted that area. It's close to Milwaukee and it's expensive so I'm sure students are looking for extra money.

I see these posts in Facebook groups all the time saying “work from home weekly pay $1700-1200” (second number always smaller than first) and there’s always like 50+ comments on them from legit profiles. People really need to be smarter.
I think Kelly is his money mule. How did the scammer know that you have been talking to him? I think Kelly is bs'ing you! It's the only way it all makes sense. The scammer knows Kelly will send him the money.
Yeah these Nigerians play nice then start to play tough to get their money. People usually get fired for non payment. time to quit and get a job elsewhere. I love your videos and always learning something new.
My college email gets a lot of these. The administration is usually pretty good at removing them, but I've gotten a lot more than usual recently. I hope no one actually falls for them, because you can tell some of them are obviously sketchy. I had someone with a name I couldn't pronounce and a Czech email address offer me a "job" one time...
I think your right. Option 3 might be that they have access to Kelly through connect wise and may have Kelly information to the bank so that they could withdraw the extra money when it is sent through zelle
I got a similar email and looked up the person on LinkedIn (not the email provided). He said he doesn't have any role available, but did receive nessages from other students. Felt bad for him, his name being used for a scam.
Aren't banks telling you that you should be in physical possession of the cheque when you make a photo deposit? If they do, do people have trouble understanding the words "physical possession"? When I did some cheque deposits by app here in the UK, many dinosaur eras ago, they made it clear that they may want to see the physical cheque and I should keep hold of it for a short while. And there was also a deposit limit of £500, and anything over would have to be presented to the bank.

@@angaratosurion and you need 3-5 years of experience to get a 0 pay experience "job"
@Taterzz and a bachelor's degree and you won't even start at 20 bucks an hour lol
Kelly is 100% in on it. No doubt. Should send his email to the cops. Not like anything will happen but maybe.
I don't think that's called for, personally, since we don't know for sure if Kelly's in on it.
Yeah my daughter got a letter about something like this. After looking into it, I found out it was a pyramid scam.
That's something completely different than anything that is showing on Pleasant's channel. These are straight up scams. And MLM is often a legitimate company that's claiming you can make money but only 1% of them do make anything of any significance.
@@americarocks1776 no I realize that. Pleasant shows illegal scams, pyramid scams are legal scams.
@@popixel I don't think pyramid scams are legal, lol. But MLM can be. Depends upon the hustle.
@@jenanne31 I never knew that. They seem like they are very rampant and they are always around. Well, if they aren’t illegal, they should be.
@@jenanne31 It's mathematically impossible for anyone except the top couple of layers of the pyramid to make money in MLM. It should be outlawed too.
Thanks, Ben! Your sense of humor is always refreshing and your content eye-opening. I love your channel.
“Why would you send money to me for me to send it back”😂😂😂
This is why I subscribed to this channel.
How many years ago was this incident? Was it through Facebook?
That text message just means your information has been leaked somewhere
I get spam like that all the time! Luckily not texts - instead I get political texts all day like OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING UNLESS YOU DONATE RIGHT NOW 🙄
I never ordered anything outside of USA. Occasionally I order stuff from Amazon I have no problems with that. And I don’t Donate anything on anything. 😎😎🔥🔥
9:07 he said "It’s the god of thunder that will kill your mother" 😂
I'm a victim to an online scam this past week. I just wish I could get my lost funds. Would you know any professionals I can speak to about this? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the Info. Got scammed this past week out of 2.25 Bitcoin
Sorry about that, just don't understand how so many human beings can be so heartless to people like that
Ya'll, don't believe anyone in this comments section saying they can get your money back. It is another scam. It is unfortunately very rare to be able to get your money back after being scammed, unless you open a claim with your bank or credit card. Don't get scammed a second time. No random stranger on the internet is going to be able to retrieve your money.
Try contacting legal authorities ig
Sons of a been on endless scaming rampages for decades robbing of westerners all over! Yet do many still falling in heads over heels for the sons of a 🥴🥺🙏🙏🙏
Anyone else notice that Darth Vader is hanging out in the corner behind "BenDover "?? 😆
ive been getting these same emails through my college email. so cool to see you make a video about it.
Hi, Ben. Glad to see a new video from you.
Always with the 'Kindly`
It's so weird how that's become such a telltale sign of a scam, a single word. You'd think they'd stop using it.
It's baked into Nigerian English
Exact same thing I went through! Desperation clouds judgement
Congrats boys!!
I've throughly enjoyed your coverage this year. You certainly made up for you terrible luck last year.
8:37 'Are you firing me?' bro be playing his role perfectly 🤣🤣🤣
I love how you investigate all these smaller scams going on and informing the Internet about how they work. Keep up the great work Mr. Dover. Lols
Any time someone asks you to “kindly” send them the money, block them immediately. Nobody talks like that only scammers lol
Up in smoke...
"toilet tester and jelly bean counter"
sounds like there are jobs out there even i could do
😂
Ice cream tasters make over $20 an hour to start. You have to have the gene to taste rancid. Not a joke. Not a scam. There is a large turnover though, I guess it's not a job that people keep for long...
I read that and was lmao 😜 😂
@@christine8268
if he's firing you, ask for a severance package...
my college gets the same emails too, too good to be true
I haven't found a single data entry work from home job posted online that hasn't turned out to be a scam
scammers take advantage of people's goodwill and inexperience. They suck
No its not goodwill and inexperienced its stupidity . You have to be stupid beyond imagination to fall for this.
This is part of the training of life.
Much better than being eaten by a lion.
I love you being too nice to call “Kelly” on his BS. We all know what’s happening, but Mr Green is too Pleasant to say it☺️
When I was applying for jobs, there was an ad for a well-known travel agency.
Me being broke became a blessing when I couldn’t pay the 80$ entry fee, which lead me to discovering they were a MLM scam
i get so many emails about getting a job. i send them to the stop spoofing email and they all end up fake. i think these types of scams need to be dealt with more
I think the obvious theory is kelly got caught so now he's acting like he doesn't know what's going on
I got a similar one at the beginning of the year from the CEO of a local business with a school email address. He wanted me to mail something. I didn’t get far enough to figure out what he was trying to do.
great work my friend 👏
Sophisticated! No wonder so many people get hacked. Thanks for your education.
Hey Ben. What’s the that tool you’re using called? My mother gets targeted by scams and me having extra time I usually mess with them, most of to e time I use Canva to fake a screenshot but the gambit show tool looks a lot easier and faster. If you don’t mind could you help me use it?
Love your videos. I fell for the Microsoft phone call tech support. However, my Frontier new technology router foiled the scammers, & I disconnected the router to break the contact. A surprise crisis can dupe even the best of us. Lesson learned.
I swear scammers will scam anyone or anything!
It's truly bewildering how intricate these plots can get.
Either Kelly was in on it, or Kelly didn't know it was a scam but was sharing their zelle willingly with a promise of getting to keep a percentage. Anyway, her might have gotten cold feet or figured out it was a scam so now they are not participating and playing dumb
You know it's a scammer when they say 'my money' (which I find cringing), they use personal accounts and emails and curse and swear at you. All these are very common with scammers.
As a Nigerian. I am sorry about this . Some of us are very honest and hardworking . The end was funny bcs we was angry he got caught and swore in Yoruba 😂😂😂
I have received so many emails about job opportunities that seem too good to be true! I'm glad you were able to cover these annoying emails
😂😂😂 Steven Seen How creative 😅. My money. Great job 👏
I had a friend that went to UW Parkside. It's in a large area so I doesn't surprise me that scammers targeted that area. It's close to Milwaukee and it's expensive so I'm sure students are looking for extra money.
Scammer : what jobs did you do
Ben : I cleaned toilets
Scammer : you're hired
good to know that *you don't need experience* to do that job scammer mentioned 😂
You are pretty slow
just happened to my school email this month sent a link to this video to the group keep up the good work!
I am always looking for your new videos. You do a good job.
I think your right. Option 3 might be that they have access to Kelly through connect wise and may have Kelly information to the bank so that they could withdraw the extra money when it is sent through zelle
If he's doing the order then why send YOU the money? What a Sheister!
I bet my money on Kelly being involved. He acted surprised when you messaged him, then admitted it's been happening recently.
You should send him his money with a phony check
Murphy’s law will then apply; the scammer will get off scott-free while Ben will get in trouble the law. 🙄
I got a similar email and looked up the person on LinkedIn (not the email provided). He said he doesn't have any role available, but did receive nessages from other students. Felt bad for him, his name being used for a scam.
As a Nigerian
I love this 😂❤
0:34 can't help but to laugh with laugh track especially with the ridiculous resume he put on there. 😂😂
Bro said school authorities 😂😂
He got pissed and insulted your mom at the end of that conversation😂
🤣🤣🤣that resume was outrageous 😭
But the board approved!
My bank in the US says to keep the physical check for 60 days. But they don’t explain why - I think they should!
