Great topic to discuss. While in Onslow in 2022 my wife fell ill. We went to the local hospital. No doctor on duty but 2 very experienced nurses. (Doctor was by video link). Was flown out back to Karratha by RFDS. Hubby had to stay in Onslow as no room on plane. 2 days in hospital and then had to bus it back to Onslow, where hubby had to meet the bus at the Onslow turnoff on the highway. I agree the care by everyone from the very start right until leaving the hospital was second to none. What a great health system we have in Australia.
Wow what an experience. Thanks for sharing 👍It certainly give you confidence, while travelling, that you will be looked after if something goes wrong.

that was a really interesting convo - loved it and it so important to understand your health needs on the road. My Dr will also prescribe via email to another pharmacist my BP tablets, but yes I do need to see a doctor after the 12 months but hey!
Thanks Sarah, yeah it's been interesting navigating the different systems. But very doable 👍

Safe travels from qld

Great video guys, lots of good tips. We do very similar in both areas. Luckily Jo is an ex nurse so I have 24/7 care. 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks 😊 that’s handy having your own nurse 👍

Thanks! for discussing this one... I'm uncertain. I've been to centrelink and I kind'a know what to do. But this was perfect.
What about the "MyHealth" records ...
Thank you, so glad it was helpful 😊. We’re not sure about My Health we both have a long term GP who we can refer to. But think there is a national register that health services have access to unless you opted out several years ago? We haven’t found that to be an issues anywhere we have been

Great info thks. How did you find voting in local, state and Fed elections?
Thanks 😊We have found that it is easier to miss local elections, so need to be on the ball with them. We have been able to do a postal vote or absentee vote for all elections. However in the recent referendum we tried to absentee vote in Brunswick Heads NSW but they said we needed to go to Byron Bay to absentee vote but got there too late to vote so failed to vote.

16:50 a GP can send pathology requests and scripts to a centre (former) and a pharmacy (latter) of your choice. It's not a secret but my Canberra GP reminded me about it. My GP also reminded me that if I have trouble getting in to a GP, to give her and call and she'd vouch for me.
Dental - this one's a toughy. I'm a tetracycline baby, meaning that in 1959 when mum was pregnant with me, she was prescribed that antibiotic. What this means is that over time, starting in 2017 for me, is that your teeth begin to rot, you lose bone density in the upper and lower jaws and the root nerve dies off. Fortunately, given my Army time, I know more than a few former Army dentists now in private practice who can make a phone call to explain my situation. While I have some amoxycillin and a pain killer - that I won't mention here by name, sometimes I need to get in to a dentist somewhere for an urgent extraction.
Wow quite a story! Thanks for sharing 👍 Hadn’t thought about dental, that’s great information very helpful. It’s good to have health professionals who know you.

You didn't mention Australia Post Parcel Collect - the easiest way to have parcels sent to a Post Office.
G'day Christie, we've never used Parcel Collect but will check it out. Thanks for the tip
