As a MS shareholder I prefer that they become a publisher and not a platform holder. Them footing the bill for the very long development time for the next Elder Scrolls and ignoring the 160 million PS and Nintendo install base makes no business sense at all.
The drawback for the consumer is that a dominant Sony (or xbox for that matter) is that they will not improve like they did when there was competition, we saw it during the PS2 era going into PS3 and the X360 to X-one. Nintendo will always go their own way regardless.

A little premature to signal the death of Xbox 🤓 nearly 30 million consoles sold is big enough to matter...add in the still active xbox ones

Yeah, I do agree with you. We are big Xbox fans. We are just a little disappointed with the studio closures.
