Our first trip to Grand Cayman was January 2020 to visit a family member working on Grand Cayman and we spent a couple of days sitting on the beach and enjoying the atmosphere that was Royal Palms. Just looked back at our photos from that location and so devastating to see how it has severely changed in such a short time. Truly sad and shocking. Thank you for showing us what is happening.
I walked that same section of SMB last February, it was small then, worse now; you could at least just get past the Marriott. Keep the videos coming, they are a massive help for all of us who like to get down there when it gets cold in the States. Go Blue!
Thanks for the video update on 7 Mile. We're hoping to get to the island next summer. We stay at The Grand Caymanian (Holiday Inn). We do love to spend time on 7MB. Hopefully things will get better.
I'm surprised SMB doesnt have the longest stretch of beautiful white powder beach in the world. I'm making a few assumptions here, but dont many beach front properties have exclusive access to the beach in front of their property within a certain distance to the high tide mark? In other words, the property owners on seven mile beach front have a strong incentive to see the beach as big as possible. Or am I wrong?
Hi Travis, no your very right I think! Its sad to see some of the beach disappear, I hope that the sand comes back in the future! Make sure you follow us on Instagram for more updates!
What happened to the land that Casa Bertmar was on (it was next to Sunset House). It was by the big oil tanks. It was our favorite dive resort. I tried to pick out the boat slip but can hardly make it out. The name was changed to Coconut Harbour for a while. We also stayed at a resort called Spanish Cove way up North. Looks like there is nothing left there but the main boat slip. So sad to see 7 Mile Beach in this condition. I wonder if the Oro Verde wreck is still there. Hope the hurricane doesn't hurt the islands. Love the place!
I am coming in on the Carnival Horizon. I have visited the island before and it is absolutely top for friendly people! Your videos encouraged me to try some local cuisine this time and to venture out via local bus.
Can you tell what has happaned? I've been there twice. The fist time was in May/June 2015. The second time was in December 2018/January 2019. I'm planning to come to Cayman next June with my sister's family. Sad to see what has happened to my favourite place on the island.
Hi there, its been a combination of rising sea waters? Global warming maybe, just before covid in 2019 there was plenty of beach then the tides just took it all away, sadly!
Hi. Comparing this video to photos someone sent me last week it looks like the water receded by a small amount and the waves are calmer. Anyone know for sure? Trying to decide whether to come this summer.
Hi Evan I worked at the Marriott but it was under a different brand back in 1995-1997 and lived a little further down the beach next to the Darts plastics estate All I can say is Wow I know the storms were brutal It was so beautiful back then we could walk from the Marriott to the Westin on 7 mile beach Wow so sad I’m glad I found your channel
I lived in Grand Cayman (and on SMB) for four years. I left six years ago and I am deeply saddened to see this. I am in shock, I can't believe these terrible changes. How is the beach at Bodden Town and West Bay? I was hoping to come back and visit soon.
Cemetery Beach is nice and you can see some coral, no amenities, bring a towel and some water. There’s a subway fairly close or was in 2/2020. Great. Video and is is sad with storms and Climate Change . Thank you.
Sadly I think the incentive to repair the beach (certainly possible as the technology is used in the mining industry for decades) isn’t there yet; probably returns when property developers can buy the properties along the strip for Pennies on the dollar.
■ 'Like' 👍🏻 this video you and you help me out massively with reaching both old subscribers and new viewers. Usually less than 4% of viewers bother.
Hi Evan John from Michigan where can we go on 7 mile beach to spend the day? Coming in Feb on the carnival paradise thanks 😊
I recommend you go to public beach by the kimpton they have beach chair rentals for you! Any other questions let me know!

We will be coming in about 3 weeks . Since seven mile is mainly gone . What public beach do you suggest? The one by Kimpton?
Wonderful! Governors beach by the westin is nice!

Thanks for the information Evan. I just changed our hotel to be closer to Governors Beach in January! Thanks again!!!

Wow - we spent a lot of time at coral beach just 4 months ago. Crazy that it’s eroded so much so quickly. Thanks for showing this stretch of SMB.
Thanks for the update! It is very sad to what has happen to West Bay 7 mile beach!

Hi there, I’m not sure to be honest! Yes it is a great place! Cayman is the best!
Thank you for this video as I will be there next week.

Appreciate your walk down the beach! My girlfriend and I were looking in this general area. Your video made us reconsider. Sad to see
Glad it was helpful!
Evan, UNREAL.....Royal Palms use to be a HOTEL until it BURNED about 30 PLUS years ago....LORD, beach GONE....SAD
Very sad to witness Bob!
A few years back we enjoyed walking there from the Marriot. They had live music and the outdoor bath was open late. Sad.
I had no idea about the beach erosion. I will be arriving in 2 weeks. Thank you for sharing this information.
My pleasure 😇
Sad to see this. Thank you for sharing. How are the beaches further up by Kimpton and Governor's?
Hi, yes very much so. Hopefully the beach can get back to how it use to be back when I came to this island.

Very cool!
Thanks for showing us this part of SMB Evan. Really sad.

PS: Thank you for the brilliant video
Hi there yes I know it’s horrible! The beaches there are better primarily the erosion is on the beach by the Marriott
Sad to see all that beach erosion, still an amazing place though for sure.

Yes sir! Our pleasure!
What public beach do you suggest that is accessible from the road and the bus can take you there
The beach area by the kimpton hotel is called public beach and is nice, you can take the bus there.
@@theevanpyle thank you for your reply
Does the government ever consider replenishing the beach? They do it every so often in our area.
Well we are not sure what is going to happen! Sad 😞

Stayed at Pine Villa Sept 24. The beach is worse. Royal palms still falling into ocean. The beach is not usable. To many large rocks.
Oh yes I bet. Sadly the beach in that area is all but gone 😞
What about south of the Marriott? Any beach?
No unfortunately there is no beach south of the marriott, north yes.
Hey brother watching ffom nepal such a great flim
Thanks Bro!
I remember 7 mile Beach when there were no hotels on it. Much better it is such a shame it's been ruined with all these buildings now :(
How is RC saying it's an excursion when there is no beach?
There is a beach still there at RC!
No idea at what point you entered and where in regards to entire beach. Lost.
I entered where the old royal palms was and walked down to the Marriott
Looks like the previous RP owners got out at the right time. Very sad to see.
So sad. We have stayed at Regal Beach a few times
Very much so Chuck!
Omg I’m so sad😢
Very sad indeed Cindy!
So sad 😭
Time to move back to Canada, get a house, start a family, You can't make a living there with a wife. Time to go up.
